Stephen Jackson Article on ESPN Insider
So there's an article on Stephen Jackson explaining how to stop Kobe and Carmelo, but I don't have insider. Can someone who has insider post the article here. I really want to see what he said.
Warriors End Boston's Streak?
It looks like the Warriors will have a great chance to end Boston's huge winning streak when they play in Oakland on the 26th. Boston plays tomorrow against the 76ers at home which should push their streak to 19 games. They then play against the Lakers in LA on Christmas day. That's going to be a tough game for the Celtics, but assuming they win that game the Celtics will be coming to Oakland playing their second game of a back to back set. Playing against the Warriors is going to be a huge letdown after playing on Christmas against the Lakers. Add on the fact that the Warriors will have had 3 days of rest. The Warriors have a great chance to end Boston's streak given all of these circumstances. Anyway, I just wanted to throw that thought out there. It might be a pretty fun game to watch.
Baron wants to stay in the bay
Here's an entry Baron posted on his blog about wanting to stay in the bay area. Let's hope he does.
Warriors Offseason
Here's a good article about the Warriors offseason that I found today. It's a good read.
OT: Haters in So Cal
Hey guys. I was just looking up the Golden State Warriors on google news and I came across this article: http://www.newuniversity.org/checkDB.php?id=6685
Anyways, it lists reasons why SoCal sports are much better than Nor Cal, but thats not what upsets me. The author of the article goes on to state how much of a better place SoCal is then NorCal. Here is a little taste:
No one can argue that the weather is phenomenal in So Cal. Who doesn't enjoy sun and warmth year around? The lack of precipitation allows us to do so much more. In Nor Cal, it is always gloomy and rainy. The weather there only reflects the depressing status of the place. No one can say that they would rather have more variety in their weather than have perfect weather year-round.The article is just completely inaccurate and bases none of its statements on facts. I'm contacting this author on his piece right now. If you also want to send him an email here is the address of his department: newusports@gmail.com
Do We Make a Move?
With the proposed trade of Jason Kidd going to Dallas, I have a question to all of you. Do you think we should trade this year, and will we? Also, if we don't trade can we still compete with the elite teams of the west? I'm an optimist when it comes to Warriors basketball, but this Jason Kidd trade really makes me wonder if we could get out of the first round of the playoffs again this year. I'm really curious to see what you all think.
OFF TOPIC: Stupid ESPN article
So I was just on the ESPN homepage and I came across this article http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/hunting/news/story?id=3150157
Its about a 5 year old boy who went out with his grandfather hunting and killed a 400 pound bear. My question is, why the hell is this on the ESPN homepage. Who cares about some 5 year old shooting a bear. Why is a 5 year old hunting in the first place? I just think its absolutely ridiculous.
I am extremely confident
I know the Warriors are off to an 0-4 start. I know they've played some crappy games and lost a couple that they really should have won (Clippers, Cavaliers). However, I am really confident about this team. I just think the Warriors have so many offensive weapons, and I think they'll get their team defense together. I actually think they're a much better team this year. I mean Al has gotten much better. Azubuike is stepping up. I think Ellis is going to be a better scorer this year. I mean think about why the Warriors haven't won yet this year. Their team defense hasn't been there, they're getting handled in the paint, and Baron Davis has been making some bad decisions. However, with time I think their team defense will step up, they'll still get outrebounded, but I think they'll improve there, and I think Davis will start making better decisions with the ball. I don't even expect them to win on Thursday, but I think they'll be alright. I would still love a solid big man, but I believe this team is too explosive offensively to not put it together soon. Does anyone else share this feeling of confidence?
What's with the Panic?
Why are so many people getting so angry over these 2 games. You guys need to settle down. It's been only two games and those two games have been without our second best player in my opinion. What propelled us on that 16-5 run at the end of last season? It was the trade that brought us Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington. Stephen Jackson being the best player out of that deal. Look at the positives guys. How good has Kelenna Azubuike looked. 33 points on 12 for 17 shooting is pretty damn good. Everyone wanted an answer to how we would replace J-rich and Kelenna Azubuike is looking like a pretty good player to match and even exceed his production. Belinelli has also looked impressive. I know he had that 37 point summer league game but I thought he was way overrated. I still think he's overrated, but he's proven that he can do more than just shoot 3's. Yeah, Don Nelson's been making some dumb decisions, but he's learning about this team as we are. I mean, he can see whats going on in practice, but he's not going to learn about all these new players until they're put into real game situations. You've got to give this team and Don Nelson some time. However, you've got to realize this team isn't an elite NBA team. I think the expectations for this team are ridiculous after last seasons playoff run. Lets just see how everyone reacts after they lose tonight to the Jazz.
Birthday
Just in case you guys didn't know. Its Monta Ellis's Birthday today. So I just wanted to wish him a very happy birthday. Also... Its my birthday today!!!! Monta Ellis is turning 22 and I'm turning 20. Party at my place!!! (300 minimum filler) Go Warriors. Can't wait until the open practice and the season opener.
KG?
I just thought this excerpt from latimes.com was kind of interesting.
Garnett, sought by the Lakers and Phoenix Suns in multi-team talks that broke down this week, may still be traded ... with speculation now centering on the Golden State Warriors...The Warriors may now offer Wright with center Andris Biedrins and guard Monta Ellis and enough salary to make the deal work to Minnesota for Garnett.
Do you think getting Garnett is actually a possibility, and is trading Biedrins, Ellis, and Wright worth it?
Quick Question
Does anyone know what Baron Davis and Jason Richardson said after the game when Steinmetz told them about the fans at the Oracle Arena. When the fans in Oracle heard Steinmetz mention them they went nuts and I couldn't hear. Lol it's pretty funny. (Apparently I'm under 300 characters so I'm going to write this to reach 300 characters)
Funny stuff
I just watched a segment on ESPN about the Warriors, and it pissed me off. They talk like they know the Warriors. Why is it whenever the Lakers are talked about they always talk about their injuries and how tough their season was. One analyst said the Mavericks don't have to worry about a team that is barely .500, but you know this is a completely different team. With everyone healthy in the lineup, Warriors opponents should be scared. Lets see them shock the world by upsetting the Mavs in round 1. Don't talk about the Warriors if you know nothing about them.
Wow
The guys on TNT were just discussing who's hot and who's not in the league right now. Denver was the team shown for "Who's Hot" and the Wizards were shown for "Who's Not". Surprisingly, Barkeley said not to forget about the Warriors. Its shocking to actually hear praise from Barkeley. I'm surprised he doesn't think our winning record recently is just a fluke.
