Here you go, guys. Now you can have Beach(ie) ice girls, too! Bikinis for women to show team love all summer long.
Have you seen these???? How fucking cool!!! Well, if you imagine it without that stupid D and with a fantastic A and all...
Lemieux and McCarty Together Again: Interview on TSN's Off the Record
Pretty cool interview, worth checking out. It's cut into multiple segments. Props to AD for posting it on his blog.
Ooops, I trolled...
I stumbled over to M&G...I know, I know! They had this post up and it had this chart from the Sharks site and it actually seemed like a decent chart and it put the Avs right about where we all say they'd really be Andy aside (7th) and they still say we're a bunch of lucky bastards and that chart proved it and and and....I couldn't help commenting that 7th...well...how is that luck?
Is Radar THAT bad on the PK?
Okay, this doesn't make any sense to me. I know you seemed baffled by it too, Jibs. Can anyone sort it out?
Blood Feud Revisited....
"There were players on the Colorado team I had played with before and I just grew to hate them and they felt the same way, I’m sure." Brendan Shanahan
(I suspect there are some quotes you won't quite agree with in this article, however...)
But CORSI is GOD!!!
Actually, this time, it pretty much makes sense and sums up the Avs pretty well. An article from Behind the Net features:
1. Corsi #s when down by one goal, even and up by one goal - hide your eyes if you're squeamish.
2. Corsis based on shooting percentage figures
and provides a decent theory on why the Avs are doing so well.
Scott Burnside @ ESPN on Salei, Andy
In his weekly Power Play column, Burnside offers thoughts on the Coyotes, Chelios and Samuelsson. He also has a few things to say about a couple of Avs that you might find interesting...
Dutchy center stage on ESPN.com/NHL for their new Power Rankings. This isn't the first time ESPN has featured him...I wonder if this will help spark some Calder love?
Dominic Moore has been a pre-trade deadline steal for the Habs...
I still wish he was with the Avs but I'm glad he's doing so well!
UPDATED: Ovechkin to get TWO games suspension
Well, according the rule book, anyway. It's supposed to be automatic and there should be no way around it.
23.5 Fines and Suspensions - Stick Infractions, Boarding and Checking from Behind Category - In regular League games, any player or goalkeeper who incurs a total of two (2) game misconduct penalties for stick-related infractions, Boarding - Rule 42, or Checking from Behind - Rule 44, shall be suspended automatically for the next League game of his team. For each subsequent game misconduct penalty, the automatic suspension shall be increased by one game.
Don Cherry goes off on Matt Cooke on Coach's Corner 3/13/10
Among other things, this segment has a video compilation of numerous Cooke hits. It really puts things into perspective of just how bad this guy really is. Puck Daddy, as much as we sometimes dislike his take on things, also has a good article about it.
Ryan "Mack Truck" Wilson hitting homers instead of douchebags?
Looks like we lucked out on another one as Wilson almost chose baseball over hockey...
Q & A with Hendricks from the Post
Hmmmm, I'm wondering if that Dario from Highlands Ranch is our Dario??
I really have to stop reading Dater's blog
Okay, so specific players' names aside, this is such a Dater thing to do and typlifies why he bugs me so much...
SoS still leads the pack in FOs taken
38.2 percent
The percentage of the Colorado Avalanche's total team faceoffs taken by center Paul Stastny(notes) (50.5 faceoff winning percentage), the highest in the League. Sidney Crosby is next at 37.5 percent. For comparison's sake, Shawn Horcoff(notes) of the Edmonton Oilers led the NHL with 37.8 percent of his teams draws last season, while Mats Sundin(notes) was the 2007-08 leader with 40.8 percent while playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Another awesome commercial from the Bruins
Don't you just love those commercials the Bruins are making with the big ass bear? They're classic hilarity. I, for one, am glad that the Avs are making commercials that are this good. I mean, the Bruins and Avs should have a commercial face-off! That would be...oh wait. Never mind. I don't know if these commercials would actually bring in new folks to hockey games, but they are damn funny. Here's a new one to feast your eyes upon. Enjoy my little MHHers!
National Anthem antics: disrespect or not?

Calder Race: Puck Daddy thinks it's down to Howard the Duck or Meyers
I'm not sure how you can lump Duchene in with Tavares as being so far out of the race, but Wysh does. As we've all said, Meyers has a seriously strong case. I don't think Howard really does, though. We'll see how the season plays out. If the Avs continue to have games like last night, I'm afraid Dutchy won't have a chance.
Dater chats with Super Joe
Nice little article catching up with Joe, what he's up to these days, what he thinks of the team, his trip to the Olympics, and his future with the Avs.
Interesting story on faceoffs from a linesman's perspective
The worst thing that can happen is you drop the puck and the damn thing stays in your feet, because they're just like wild animals coming for that piece of meat." -- Veteran NHL linesman Brad Lazarowich
With his hit on Marc Savard, Matt Cooke takes this month's prize for biggest douche. Talk about a flagrant, totally intentional elbow to the head. What a fucking prick.
Once again, I scoop Dater on the whole Mueller asked to be traded months ago story
How early was it today that I wrote about this? Dater just posted his story at, what...9 pm PST? Jesus, Dater, start doing your job, man. I'm starting to think he reads MHH and gets half his story ideas from here.
Stastny reflects on the Olympics and the rest of NHL season
"The speed was something I've never been a part of. It's like that first shift of a playoff game, everyone's going 120 per cent but it was like that the whole game. The intensity of the game was pretty high and so much quality it made it tough to play."
Monday is only a day away (give or take)
All this talk about the Red Wings SuckFest and how much fun we'll have heckling the shit out of Detroit fans made me forget that the race for the playoffs starts back up that night. It's still a tight one and this quick look at the standings and points and points per game stats makes it all too clear that our boys in burgandy and blue have a battle on their hands. I think it's a mistake to trust in that road trip of Vancouver to help them out; the rest of the pack is just way too close.
I don't know about you, but my tummy is feeling a little tight with excitement and anxiety as Monday draws nearer. I sure hope our boys are ready for this and continue to prove the critics wrong!
Duchene's FB profile pic might look familiar...
Last night, the Altiboobs used "Young Guns" to describe the rookies during their broadcast. Now Dutchy's jumping on the MHH Marketing Inc bandwagon. I think we're making some friends out there, folks. = )
Coach Dutchy
I mentioned this before, but Duchene will be acting as an assistant coach for his high school hockey team during the Olympic break. I don't know about you, but if I were one of those kids, I'm not sure I'd be able to focus on my skating drills with him watching me! Here's a link to Dater's blog that has a video of Duchene talking about it.
CALLING ALL SO CAL AVS FANS!!!!!!!!!
Okay, there has to be more of us than just Pinchy and me on here. Right??? If not, then I guess this is directed solely at you, oh Crustaceous one.
My friend works for the Kings and she has a last minute group deal available for the Kings/Avs game this Saturday. What is the deal? I've no idea as I was driving and couldn't get into details. I don't like blue tooth and didn't think writing things down would be a great idea either. ANYWAY, minimum 15 folks and I guarantee you'll get cheaper seats in the upper decks than you will at Pepsi Center; how much cheaper? Again, I don't know cuz I generally sit in the 200s. They're $60ish there.
Hillary's a cool chick and cuz you're my friend (I'll give her my MHH secret spy code name) she'll hook you up. Even if you fall short of that number (or it ends up there are just two, three, or just the one of you), call her up; I'm sure she can get you some kind of deal, even if it's not quite as much. Her # is 310-535-4462. She got me a sweet deal on my seats on the glass exactly where I wanted them. It helps to have friends in the right places, eh?
ESPN gives hockey some love...with our very own Dutchy! This is one of their top "Sports Photos of the Week."
Name that column! *UPDATED*
A while ago, I thought of doing a regular piece about what the players do off the ice just to get to know them a little better. After thinking about it, I've decided to go with something a bit broader in perspective, including both on and ice stuff, since the MSM dips into their "outside lives" as well. Of course, knowing me as you all do, I plan to go for more of the nitty gritty: what did you say when you asked that first girl out and how long did you practice for it, why is it that you accept so many friend requests from complete strangers on FB anyway, or how bad does it hurt really when Clutterbuck plows into you against the boards?
