SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Darius Miller has never played a game at Notre Dame, but he's been here plenty of times.

"I have tons of family in South Bend," the Kentucky freshman said. "My dad has a lot of family there. We used to go there at least once a year. I've never been there to play a game, but I have certainly been to South Bend."

The search for a new head basketball coach at the University may be coming to an end as Virginia Commonwealth University’s Anthony Grant has emerged as the top candidate.

Grant, who according to multiple sources is expected to travel to Tuscaloosa Wednesday, could receive a formal offer during his visit, the Tuscaloosa News reports.

OMAHA, Neb. - Patrick Patterson believes that Billy Gillispie will be coaching at Kentucky again next year.

However, even UK's talented sophomore center admitted after Monday's dramatic 65-63 win over Creighton here in the National Invitation Tournament that there was no way to know for sure what might happen.

Larry Orton spent a few days in Virginia last week visiting his mother. When he returned home and went to work, he was hit with numerous questions about UK’s basketball coaching situation.

"People are trying to get Daniel to change his mind about Kentucky. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State want him bad. His cousin is coach at OU. If Gillispie is not there (next year), I guarantee he will call. There will be a lot of people calling. I bet Florida will call," Larry Orton said.

Because he played with five of Kentucky's current players, Bobby Perry readily admits that he wants to see the UK basketball team do well.

However, the former Wildcat also doesn't think that means he should not be entitled to an opinion that is less than flattering about the UK program.

Even thought UK is 20-13 and did not make the NCAA Tournament, the Madisonville-North Hopkins product remains firm in his commitment to UK and in his belief that Gillispie will be back for another season.

But by the end of the game Sanford had worn out Bowling Green with his sensational play at crunch time and sparked Lexington Catholic to a 70-62 overtime victory in the first round of the National City Boys' Sweet Sixteen Thursday afternoon.

Sanford, who was being watched from press row by Kentucky Coach Billy Gillispie, was at his best down the stretch.
