McDonald wants to go "full-bore fast... Like an Oregon, Texas A&M style of offense"

1

Looks like McDonald wants to get full use out of all his shiny new WR recruits. Quote from the SI article: Syracuse has lacked a definitive offensive identity since Donovan McNabb left in 1998. Greg Robinson failed miserably at installing a pro-style offense, and Doug Marrone tinkered with a bit of everything to varying degrees of success. In Scott Shafer's second season as head coach, offensive coordinator George McDonald plans to solve the identity crisis. "We're going to open it up on offense and go full-bore fast," McDonald said. "Like an Oregon, Texas A&M style of offense."

QB Transfer from Oklahoma

1

According to this tweet from Bruce Feldman (https://twitter.com/bfeldmancbs/status/312230084310347776) it seems like we are getting a visit from a transfer from Oklahoma. It's nice to see that we got a shot with someone who has played with the big boys, but will it end up being another Greg Paulus situation since he only has one year of eligibility left?

Coach Marrone Talks About How Being In A Bowl Helps With Evaluation

+

"It gives you a better feel for where you're at with younger kids," Syracuse coach Doug Marrone said. "You can put the younger kids in more intense situations and see how they react and how far you can take them. As you're evaluating them, you're asking yourself if you can rely on him or do you need to find someone else at that position. If a kid emerges, you're set at that position so you can go recruit a kid for another position." Follow the link for more from HCDM...

Nike's EYBL

+

An interesting overview on Nike's EYBL tournament. It has an interview with Anthony Davis (who has SU in his top 3) and also says the SU recruits MCW and Trevor Cooney can light it up from the college 3 pt. line.
