Started at 1:00 CST, lets get the discussion going!

I'll post the buzz about NL Central picks

INFO IS IN THE ENTRY BODY. ENTER TO READ!

Cubs selected (19) Andrew Cashner, RHP, Texas Christian University
Cubs selected (41) Ryan Flaherty, Shortstop, Vanderbilt
Cubs selected (65) Aaron Shafer, RHP, Wichita State
Cubs selected (97) Chris Carpenter, RHP, Kent State
Cubs selected (131), Matthew Cerda, Shortstop, Oceanside (CA)

(Name, Position, School)

PIRATES (2)
The Pick: Pedro Alvarez, 3B, Vanderbilt
The buzz: Alvarez suffered a broken hamate bone this season, but clearly the injury didn't affect his draft stock. He has an MLB-ready bat but an average arm. With former first-round pick Neil Walker working at 3B in the minors, a move to 1B is not out of the question for Alvarez.

REDS (7)
The Pick: Yonder Alonso, 1B, Miami
The buzz: His awareness at the plate is a bonus to his great swing and mechanics. A well rounded player that could hit 25 home runs in the bigs

ASTROS (10)
The Pick: Jason Castro, C, Stanford
The buzz: The left-handed hitting catcher continued to improve his draft stock all season and moved up to the Top 10. He has a little better speed than most catchers in the draft but has had arm issues in his past.

CARDINALS (13)
The Pick: Brett Wallace, 1B, Arizona State
The buzz: Wallace is one of the best pure hitters in this class and his advanced approach at the plate could lead to gaudy Minor League numbers before a very productive Major League career.

BREWERS (16)
The Pick: Brett Lawrie, C, Langley, British Columbia
The buzz: Lawrie plays for the Canadian National team and scouts have already seen him hit with a wood bat which upped his stock from 2nd-4th round pick to a solid 1st rounder. He was ranked No. 8 in the RivalsHIGH 100.

CUBS (19)
The Pick: Andrew Cashner, RHP, TCU
The buzz: A 6 foot 5 power pitcher Cashner moved to the TCU closers role and has been unhittable. He may move into a starters role in the future.

BREWERS (32)
Jake Odorizzi, HRP, Highland (IL)

Brewers (35)
Evan Frederickson, LHP, Univ. of San Fransisco.

ASTROS (38)
Jordan Lyles, RHP, Hartsville (SC)

CARDINALS (39), RHP, Ole Miss
Michael Lynn

CUBS (41)
Ryan Flaherty, Short Stop, Vanderbilt

PIRATES (48)
Taylor Scheppers, RHP, Fresno State

BREWERS (53)
Seth Lintz, RHP, Marshall County (TN)

BREWERS (54)
Cutter Dykstra, LF, Westlake (CA)

ASTROS (56)
Joseph Austin, CF, North Atlanta (GA)

CARDINALS (59)
Shane Peterson, OF, Long Beach State

BREWERS (62)
Thomas Adams, RHP, Southern Illinois

CUBS (65)
Aaron Shafer, RHP, Wichita State

PIRATES (79)
Jordy Mercer, SS, Oklahoma State

REDS (84)
Zach Stewart, RHP, Texas Tech

ASTROS (88)
Charles Davidson, OF, Milton (GA)

CARDINALS (91)
Ernest Vasquez, Shortstop, Durango (NV)

BREWERS (94)
Logan Shafer, CF, Cal Poly- San Luis

CUBS (97)
Chris Carpenter, RHP, Kent State

ASTROS (109)
Ross Seaton, RHP, Second Baptist (TX)

PIRATES (114)
Chase D'Arnaud, Shortstop, Pepperdine

REDS (119)
Tyler Cline, RHP, Cass (GA)

ASTROS (122)
Thomas Steele, CF, University of Arizona

CARDINALS (125)
Scott Gorgen, RHP, UC Irvine

BREWERS (128)
Jonathan Romanski, LHP, Univ. of San Diego

CUBS (131)
Matthew Cerda, Shortstop, Oceanside (CA)

I'm gonna take a break and get some work done. I'll try to stay up with the Cubs picks, though.

I know it's not Cubs, but it was fun. I had never been to a game in a dome before, I've been to Houston and ARZ with the roof closed, but thats different

Baseball is a game of numbers. At least, that's what I was always coached and with the Cubs recent offensive surge and so many players swinging a hot bat, the query becomes "who does Lou start in Denver?" You make the call!

So lets break things down!

*Note: All stats listed below are versus current Rockies pitchers/batters. Also, Franklin Morales has never faced any current member of the Cubs active roster on the Major League level.

Rockies batters are hitting .343 against Rich Hill. Hill has only given up 3 extra base hits (1 HR, 2 doubles) against the Rockies.

Ronny Cedeno:

2008 Offensive Stats:

BA: .345
RBI: 13
HR: 1
Runs: 10

Career vs. Colorado:

BA: .238 (5/21, 3 K)
RBI: 1
3B: 1

Ryan Theriot:

2008 Offensive Stats:

BA: .338
RBI: 5
HR: 1

Career vs. Colorado:

BA: .345 (10/29, 3K)
RBI: 5
2B: 2

Mark DeRosa:

2008 Offensive Stats:

BA: .313
RBI: 13
HR: 3

Career vs. Colorado:

BA: .265 (13/49, 7 K)
RBI: 10
HR: 1
2B: 5

Mike Fontenot:

2008 Offensive Stats:

BA: .206
RBI: 3
HR: 1

Career vs. Rockies:

BA: .412 (7/17, 2 K)
RBI: 3
HR: 1
3B: 1
2B: 1

Aramis Ramirez:

Geovany Soto:

I'm trying to figure out how much I should blame Lilly

I know Ted Lilly has not been pitching well by any means and even when we think he's off to a good start, he gives up a 5-spot in the bottom of the 4th in Pittsburgh. But to his credit, other than that 12 inning win (no decision for Lilly), Ted has not gotten hardly any run support.

Just some stuff to think about...

Ted Lilly (0-3)
4 Appearances, 18.2 innings
9.16 ERA
7 BB -
14 K's
19 runs allowed (all earned)

Cubs runs scored when Lilly is on the mound (4 games):
12

Cubs runs scored in all 3 of Lilly's decisions:
5

I know Lilly has not been pitching great, but other than the ND in Pitt, he hasn't had much help either.

Also, here are the starting pitchers Lilly has faced and their current records:

Jeff Suppan (1-0)
Tom Gorzelanny (1-2)
Cole Hamels (2-2)
Edinson Volquez (2-0)

Take all of this for what you will.
