Petition for the Nets to Reform Their Use of the Social Media Accounts
The Nets are moving ahead to a new stage in the history of their franchise, making numerous changes as they prepare for a new home under the rich label of "Brooklyn." Overall, the fanbase is thrilled to see these changes. However, one change that we as a whole were hoping to see made was a removal of the pointless use of the team's social media accounts.
As Facebook and Twitter users, we would like to follow these pages in order to keep up with news, receive special offers, see recent highlights, etc. For the most part, the team's marketing has done a solid job in that respect. The problem arrives when the content steps away from this field and takes a step down to a rather immature level. This is occasionally seen in original tweets and posts, but it never fails to appear when it comes to interacting with fans. Nearly every tweet directed at the Twitter account and every wall post on the team Facebook page receives a reply from the account administrator. It is one thing to interact with fans for the purpose of addressing inquiries and providing information. That is a reasonable purpose for a page's existence. But what benefit could there possibly be in responding to post after post with insincere optimism? We can all agree that no fan will be drawn closer to the team because they receive a reply that, for all we know, could be coming from a robot, especially when they see other posts receiving nearly identical responses. This approach is both pointless and embarrassing.
The Nets have made a number of wonderful reforms, but this is near the top of the list of changes that absolutely need to be made. We as a fanbase wish to see the social media accounts used in a proper manner.
I kindly ask that you guys do not enter fake names as your signatures for the sake of humor.

D-Will Appreciation Night: 4/23/2012 (Fill up section 12!)

Participant List Document (please enter your information if you're attending)

UPDATE: If you have not yet bought a ticket, try your best to get a seat in section 12. I have seen a great amount of solid deals for seats there, and it would be ideal for us to be sitting in close proximity to one another.
If you have already bought your ticket and are not in section 12, that's not a problem. It's actually a good thing to have a couple fans scattered among the rest of the bowl, just so we have members in this that can assist in getting the rest of the crowd involved in the chants.
SECOND UPDATE: If you plan to participate and have bought your tickets, please enter your information in the participant list document (link above).

Officials Dick Bavetta, Mark Ayotte, and Scott Twardoski cost the Nets at least 8-10 points with their erroneous officiating, highlighted by two missed goaltends and an incorrect call after using instant replay video review.
Dallas' 3D Blueprint: Attempt at Dirk, Deron, Dwight
It's a long read, but I guess it answers the questions as to how Cuban could combine the three forces.
The main question I have is how Dallas could build a supporting cast around those three guys without them taking paycuts. If they have to take less money to be Mavs, then the tax-friendly situation is somewhat negated, no?
Random Thoughts on Knicks-Nets (12/17/11)
The PA Announcer
Nets Starting Lineup Introduced (Video)
David Diamante did a solid job for his first day at work as the Nets PA announcer. He was a little shaky with minor things here and there; he wasn't able to cover all of the substitutions at a given time, he called Brook Lopez's name on what he thought was an and-one when it was a charge, and he didn't know Jerry Smith's first time ("Enter, Smith"). But I'm sure he'll be fine after some time. The guy's voice is great for Brooklyn basketball. Not to mention, his hair seems to get a lot of approval.
Marco G's Replacements
The Nets have also chosen two, in-game arena hosts, whose duties include announcing halftime acts and interacting with fans. They are Gassem Miles of Jamaica, Queens NY and Gina Antoniello from Monroe, NJ.
One of the people he’ll be up against is Gassem Miles, a 37-year-old party MC from Queens with a voice reminiscent of rapper Busta Rhymes. Miles took a more natural approach.
"Other people were trying to sound like announcers on WFAN, ESPN and they weren’t sounding natural," he said. "I was sounding like I sound now — just louder.
Being that the job is shared by two people, I didn't really hear much of either of them, but I think Gassem Miles is pretty good for the on-court job. What do you guys think? Also, was Marco G our first in-game arena host, or did we have someone before him?
Loud and Proud
I'm a bit concerned about Loud and Proud continuing to be a success without NetsDaily members. I was right next to Section 14, anticipating the chants and noise, but there was nothing, so I assumed L&P wasn't in effect for preseason. But after hearing a shoutout to Loud and Proud from one of the arena hosts, I looked at the section and saw a couple of people standing up and making noise. So it was in effect, but the people sitting there weren't making themselves heard. I hope people are aware that they are buying L&P seats when purchasing tickets for that section, and I hope fans don't just view it as a way to get free caps, face posters, and noise-makers.

Despite the loss, it was great going back to the Pru and seeing basketball back in action. Let's go Nets!
Ten Years Ago Today: 2001 World Series Game 4
Ten years ago today was 2001 World Series Game 4. For Yankee fans, this is the most memorable game of what is generally considered the greatest World Series ever.
Due to the tragic events on 9/11, the 2001 season was put on hold for a week. The whole schedule was pushed back, and baseball entered November for the first time ever.

Jack Hiller vs. Ian Eagle, shown during the final home game of the season.
Videos from Second Loud and Proud Gathering
Video 1: Chanting Farmar's Name; Alley-Oop from Farmar to Wright
Video 2: Chanting for Sly Fox, Lopez, and Iannazzone
Video 3: Sasha hits the go-ahead 3 just outside two minutes, Loud and Proud gets on their feet
I have a couple other videos, but they're mainly defense chants and the video of the final possession, which I didn't put up for obvious reasons.
eLone, you did an awesome job putting this together. It was an incredible experience going to the last home game of the season (possibly the last ever in Jersey), sitting alongside the NetsDaily bunch. Thanks for the fun time, guys.
I plan on re-watching the game some time soon to see where our section was heard/mentioned, and I'll try to extract all of those segments to post.

Through the Video Archives
Frequently, I find myself replaying memorable moments in Yankee baseball history through my head. Consequently, as I most often happen to be sitting in front of my computer while these memories come alive in my mind, I have bookmarked the link to the Yankees video archive on their website. It is a handy tool, allowing me to view plays and enjoy significant points over the last several years.
The video archives for all MLB team websites go as far back as April of 2005. I began watching baseball a season before, but being that it was my first year of watching in 2004, I can only remember so much: reading the newspaper on the morning of July 2 to see a picture of Jeter diving into the stands (a game which I saw over and over again for years to come), an Alex Rodriguez walk-off HR to beat Oakland in extra innings in August, and some fictional movie on the postseason of 2004 (I laugh at how they aired an ESPN 30 for 30 last week to recap a movie... can you believe that?). So the majority of the plays I remember remain available to view in the archives online. I look to share links below as the days go by, bringing back plays that are likely sitting in the back of many of your minds as well.
I have not planned out how I will organize the links. I will probably arrange them by months, putting each significant date alongside comments of my own, sharing what I remember from those moments. I hope you all share your thoughts on each of the plays as I put them up. Do let me know if I skip any dates that you wish for me to stick in the collection below.
I do not believe this post will bump back up every time I edit it, so if this does interest you, you may want to bookmark the link and check back every once in a while to see if I have added anything.
For Those of You Who Follow Baseball
I wrote this on another forum, and I thought I'd share it with you guys:
Tony Dungy Addresses the Yankees
Joe Girardi invited Tony Dungy to talk to the Yankees before today's game. Girardi says he admires Dungy for many aspects of his life and career.
Jeter's Struggles Simply Due to Contract Year?
Back in February when Derek Jeter addressed the media regarding being a free agent for the first time after this season, he said the following:
"I've never been in that situation," Jeter said. "I've never been a free agent; I've never wanted to be a free agent. That's why I signed such a long deal. I felt, the longer the better, because I didn't want to have to answer these questions."
Now Jeter has been known as an incredibly clutch player over the years, and even through the team's offensive struggles in past years, he would still be an effective hitter with RISP. Despite that, it seems like there have been instances where the pressure has certainly gotten to him. Closing in on Lou Gehrig's record for hits in a Yankee uniform, Derek went on the longest hitless slump of his career. In addition, he has not had a walkoff hit since August of 2007, despite all of those pies last year. I will note that this is not the best way to judge how well a player handles pressure, but searching for potential causes of Jeter's struggles, I am simply noting the possible rare examples of when tense situations may play a role for the worse in his at-bats.
So this season, this contract year, may be another setting that is affecting Jeter's performance. Of course, it is a much lengthier period of time than the few games in which Jeter was after 2,722 hits. But as the season has entered its final months, it seems as if the unusual rocky road for El Capitan is only getting rougher. Who's to say that in Jeter's mind, it isn't the free agency picture becoming bigger and bigger everyday that has caused us to see less Jeterian hits? Sure, you can expect Derek's mindset to primarily be success in October baseball. But how much can you ignore having to discuss a new contract just weeks after?
"I've never wanted to be a free agent."
"I didn't want to have to answer these questions."
There are not many other possibilities that come to mind as to why Jeter, of all players, could have gone from having the season he had in 2009 to struggling to get behind pitches and drive them to right field at a crucial time in the following season.
The Yankees established the policy of not negotiating expiring contracts during the season to eliminate distractions. That may have come back to bite them this season. They might want to remember that before bringing the captain's 2010 struggles into deciding what they want to offer him.
