Marty Lurie will no longer do the pregame A's shows - he'll be doing the Giants' pregame shows on KNBR!

I'm listening to KNBR at the moment, and Damon Bruce just announced that Marty Lurie will be doing a wrapup show on KNBR, following Mychael Urban in a show on KNBR. On Marty's website he had...

Urban: Chavez at peace

Probably one of the more interesting interviews I've seen of Chavez in recent years – although he's been known for being very direct when asked good questions...and kudos to Urban for asking good questions.

A's call up three Rivercats for 9/19 – Slusser update on who and why added

Listening to Marty Lurie's "inside baseball" show this morning, his first guest is Vince Cotroneo. The first thing he mentioned was that, witih the Rivercats' season done the A's have called up...

2010 Season ticket seating and pricing policy: clarification from the A's season ticket office

A couple of days ago I commented that the A's website for 2010 season tickets had omitted several seating areas, including the rather large Plaza Level area. This morning I called the season ticket...

Interview with Jack Cust

I don't know if this has been posted here -- at least I haven't seen it. Anyway, Baseball Prospectus interviewed Cust last weekend. Enjoy!

5/27 Nomar back on disabled list

That didn't take long. To take his spot on thr roster the A's called reliever Jeff Gray back up.

brief update on KTRB issues

Following up on an earlier post, I just wanted to let you know that I have been told by someone in the A's organization that they have been working actively with KTRB to resolve the problem of poor...

Chavez retirement a real possibility (updated 5/19/09)

Susan Slusser has an extensive article, including an interview, with Eric Chavez. He has just gotten terrible news that he has a herniated disk in his back. He is still hoping to strengthen himself...

Starting lineups for 5/18 game

It's been interesting following Marty Lurie's and Ken Korach's comments on the A's woes. Both are pointing specifically to the problem of having too many inexperienced starters at the same time....

today's A's starting lineup 5/17

In very small sample sizes here is how A's hitters have fared against the Tigers' starting pitcher: Athletics hitters vs Armando Galarraga 2004-2008 Hitter AVG AB ...

tonight's starting lineup 5/4 Suzuki leads off

according to Slusser: Suzuki C, Orlando Cabrera SS, Jason Giambi 1B, Mattt Holliday LF, Jack Cust DH, Bobby Crosby 3B, Travis Buck RF, Gregorio Petit 2B, Davis CF. Sweeney gets a rest because his legs were tired -- I think he's played every inning of every game so far.

Gio and Patterson sent back to AAA

Here is the link   It's also on the A's transactions page (I noticed someone mentioned this in the DLD but without a link, also there is so much other stuff in the DLD that I thought it was...

Copeland "reassigned" to Stockton Ports

I guess this is considered a rehab assignment, since as a Rule 5 pick he can't be dropped from the 25 man roster without being offered back to the Giants for $25,000.

Petit is the next to be called up

Chávez is likely to be (finally) put on the DL. Who will take his place tomorrow? No guarantees of course, but Pennington is not in the Rivercats starting lineup tonight. UPDATE: Chavez has been placed on the DL, and Gregorio Petit was called up. So much for Pennington's not playing last night being an indicator --- Petit did play.

Patterson and Cameron called up to replace Nomar and Ellis

From Slusser: "It's not official, and the players aren't actually even here at the stadium yet, but infielder Eric Patterson and reliever Kevin Cameron are joining the A's for tonight's game."

Starting Lineup for today's game against Texas 4/28

courtesy of Joe Stiglich: Sweeney CF; Cabrera SS; Giambi 1B; Holliday LF; Cust DH; Garciaparra 3B; Suzuki C; Buck RF; Ellis 2B; Anderson P

A's hitters vs Sonnanstine + starting lineup + Chavvy injured

Update: Chavvy has a new injury, according to Curtis Pashelka: The news today revolves around Eric Chavez, who is out of today’s starting lineup with a right elbow strain. Chavez has mainly...

Hannahan takes Gallagher's spot on A's roster

He is being recalled for his defensive abilities, certainly not for his bat.

lineup 4/22

Susan Slusser has the starting lineup for today's game against the Yankees. She explains that Nomar's calf and the weather will keep him out of the game today, but that Geren expects him to start...

Chavvy starting today, Nomar out

The latest from Slusser is that Chavvy felt well enough in batting practice yesterday, and fielding grounders and doing batting practice today, to start today's game and play third base. Nomar,...

April 8 starting lineup

As of 3:39 PM Pacific Time, here's the starting lineup according to Slusser: Ryan Sweeney RF, Orlando Cabrera SS, Jason Giambi 1B, Eric Chavez 3B, Jack Cust DH, Kurt Suzuki C, Travis Buck LF, Mark Ellis 2B, Rajai Davis CF.

Unicorn back at 2B -- and hitting third!

Slusser has the starting lineup for today's game. Besides "sore backers" Cabrera and Cust being in the lineup, Mark Ellis is playing second base -- and batting third! Quote from her post: "Today's lineup at Glendale vs. the White Sox: Rajai Davis CF; Orlando Cabrera SS, Mark Ellis 2B, Jack Cust RF, Ryan Sweeney DH, Kurt Suzuki C, Sean Doolittle 1B, Bobby Crosby 3B, Aaron Cunningham LF."

Mazzaro sent down 3-23-09

This just in from Jeff Fletcher's Bay Bridge Baseball blog. So for the moment MAC is not in big league camp, just AC

March 18 update: 43 players left in A's camp (original post updated)

UPDATE: As you all know by now Rob Bowen was released. It's all but certain that Powell will make the club as the backup to Suzuki. Bowen's release also opens up a spot on the 40 man roster. As of...

Cuba items ARE on sale for WBC

someone on a game thread commented that Cuba is the only team whose gear is not on sale, and others speculated on why. However, that's simply not true...check out the link.

Loving streaming video: watched PR vs Panama today!

I have to thank missssteryash  for putting the link to get streaming live video for baseball games on the web, in the first of today's game threads. For those of you who missed it, here it is...

First A's broadcast on 860 AM now on!!

Hooray -- KTRB 860 AM the new home of the Oakland Athletics -- has just started its first broadcast of the 2009 season.   As an extra bonus, Marty Lurie's first Right Off the Bat program is on!!...

Mariners sign Mike Sweeney

to a minor league contract. It wouldn't surprise me to see him with the major league club at some point this season. Since the A's play Seattle many times, we may be seeing a fair amount of Sweeney...

Marty Luirie's website suspended?

As I'm sure many of you are, I'm a fan of Marty Lurie's work, both on the radio and his articles. Whether or not I agree with him I always respect his love and knowledge of the game. So today I was surprised to see that his website has been suspended. I hope it's only temporary, and doesn't mean he might not have his radio shows next season.

what's new? Holliday --what's old? Chávez

Yahoo! sports' Tim Brown has a pithy summary of what's new, what's old, and what to expect for the American League clubs at the Winter Meetings.
