Miss: A Recurring Theme
Driving in to work today and thinking on the Predators ouster from the 2011-12 Stanley Cup Playoffs, I thought back upon the series against the victorious Phoenix Coyotes and all the activity surrounding the team. For no reason whatsoever, a small word began popping up in several places.
Miss.
There were several areas where this showed itself, so allow me to expound on what "misses" there were that led to the team's playoff exit.
Here is a Youtube video posted by kentrunruh of the intro to last night's playoff game, featuring the new laser light show.

2012 Fantasy Hockey Corner
With the NHL Postseason upon us once more, we once again see a proliferation of Fantasy Hockey games for us to compete in! Usually these are simpler than their season-long brethren, so that makes it easy for anyone to just jump in.
I wanted to aggregate all the fantasy hockey games out there that we OTFers can and will be participating in, as well as pay tribute to the winners of the official OTF Yahoo! league winners. Hit the jump for all the deets.
A new take on mmarti68's work. Ready for t-shirt printing!

Since it seems none of my entries were good enough for Puck Daddy's poster contest, I'll post some of them here. Above, my Radulov posterization.

Rendez-Vous 87: The NHL All-Stars, the Soviet National Team, and the Super Bowl of Hockey
This is a nice write-up about the Rendez-Vous 87 exhibition games in Quebec City. This weekend was its 25 year anniversary, and it's nice to see something from a non-sports website. (Mental Floss is an all-around great site to begin with - bookmark recommended!)
Trade Target Movie Posters
It started innocuously enough. I was reading Sam's article about making a trade for Jeff Carter and I thought to myself "Do we need to get Carter?" The 'get Carter' triggered the memory of that movie, and I thought that would be an easy photoshop job to do the movie poster. I then decided to go ahead and do one for each of the players that the good writers here wrote about.
So here is the collection of these hockey-centric, cinematic blockbusters for your amusement.

Too funny! Promoted to the front page - Dirk
Inspired by tonight's game, I went searching for the Patric Hornqvist figure from the McFarlane Toys hockey line. It's not surprising that they depicted him in this pose - I guess it is his signature move.
Nashville Predators Christmas Gift Ideas
Outstanding stuff here! This has to go on the front page. - Dirk
So this year has been tough for me from a Christmas shopping standpoint. How best to get some presents for the people in my life that they will enjoy? At last, I decided that I would make each of the gifts I get have a Predators feel to them.

Giving Thanks - Part 3

I put the first two installments on this FanPost on the front page, so the third's a cinch! - Dirk
This is the final installment of my Thanksgiving series of FanPosts. What I want to do now is to turn the attention toward those who do not determine outcomes on the ice, but still help shape the identity, perception, and gameday experience for the Predators. And while I could expand this to a large host of people who have contributed to the team since its inception, I will stick to just a small subset of these folks.

Giving Thanks - Part 2

Another fine installment here, so I'm moving it to the front page - Dirk
A few days ago I looked at several Predators players and wrote about ways in which I was thankful for them. Whether it was play on the ice, personality, characteristics that make them who they are - there is always something to give thanks for. Now, I will look at the rest of the current team as we roll toward the Thanksgiving holiday.

Giving Thanks

A well-crafted FanPost like this just has to go on center stage - Dirk
It may be somewhat cliché to create a series of posts to offer thanks for something around the (American) Thanksgiving holiday season. Remembering to be thankful is something I aspire to do all the time, but since the hockey season coincides with this thanksgiving season, it would seem appropriate to have the two intersect.

Fantasy Hockey Visitor's Center
There have been a few FanPosts out here recently concerning Fantasy Hockey. I wanted to try and consolidate some information in one central spot, so pardon if some of this post seems redundant. Inside you'll find not only information about a couple of opportunities in which OTFers have to participate, but also some reasons why you should take part, including the renewal of a certain league from last season...

Cool work here, so I've added this to the front page - Dirk.
In most cases, my family gives me a hard time for holding on to things too long. Documents, old books and magazines - anything that doesn’t immediately seem useful. This is one of the times that particular "skill" came in handy.
Using several materials from the past few years, I made a Predators-based collage as a gift for my mother a little while back. The bulk of it consisted of cutting out player outlines of the Preds Press magazine covers. (The ones from this past season were not usable due to the color overlays.) Add in some filler elements from old ticket book covers, promo materials and other logos and you have all the components. (Larger image here.)
I originally saw this concept near the main counter at Otter’s Chicken on Music Row. An employee created it and brought it in to add to the sports items on the wall there. She later left and took all her Predators items with her. Still, I remembered how nice that one looked and thought to do this for my mother who joins me at all the home games. Economical, too, since it only cost me the frame!
OtF Stanley Cup Finals Prediction Tracker
It's finally here - the Stanley Cup Finals! This round will, logically, be the last round for keeping track of our picks.
OtF Third Round Prediction Tracker
Welcome to the Conference Finals! I have once again collected everyone's picks for this round and added them to the totals from the previous two rounds of playoff series. It's a couple of days later than originally planned due to projects and sickness, but everyone's choices should be listed below. We have a few more new folks picking this round.
If Nashville can make NHL work, why can't Phoenix?
A nice look by Nicholas Cotsonika at Yahoo! Sports at how the Predators franchise has persevered and gotten to this point, and whether league support could do the same for the Coyotes
OtF Second Round Prediction Tracker
And so here we are - Round Two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Once again, we're keeping track of everyone's picks. Be sure to drop a comment if I have anything marked down in error, and feel free to discuss the picks, your reasoning behind how you think each series will go, or discuss which team's playoff beards look better.
With no further delays or hyperbole, here are the latest, greatest set of PREDictions ever!

OtF First Round Prediction Tracker
Before the playoff games kicked off, several of us offered our picks for who would win each series. I grabbed each person's selections in order to track all of our prognostications to see which of us ends up with the most correct choices.
So in the interest of historical accuracy, follow the jump to see everyone's picks in a nice, clean format.

The Trotzy Slots
Inspired by some witty banter in the Game 1 Game Day thread, this is what developed... a song about the Preds, a coach, and the line combos he concocts. (with apologies to the Digital Underground)
