William's "The Science of Hitting" advocates a slight upswing on the ball
In a fairly recent discussion we kicked around the approach that Ted Williams advocated in his book, "The Science of Hitting". There was some discussion regarding whether The Splendid Splinter advocated a slight upswing or slight downswing on the ball. We had a couple of opposing views on the subject and I offered to look for my copy of the book.
I didn't find my copy of the book as I had loaned it to my brother and he still has it and it has taken me this long to get him to research it for me (we live in two different states). My apologies for the extended time it has taken. On page 62, paragraph 2.”I advocate a slight upswing (from level to about 10 degrees)” Then he goes on to explain his reasoning and so on. GO CARDS!
