Chelsea FC: Select a Song and Build Bridge Atmosphere

Here's the club's pretty cool idea to provide every musically-inclined Chelsea fan with an opportunity to democratically participate in creating a festive, adrenaline-pumping, and simply fantastic ambience at the Bridge prior to every home match kick-off. As a minor added bonus of the future, Chelsea FC and its fans might even qualify one day for getting featured in an episode of the HBO Sports Series "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel", just like the Seattle Sounders had earlier last month.

Thibaut Courtois lauds Diego Costa as striker fires Atletico to a perfect start

Before we signed Eto'o, when our striker situation was hotly debated here, I'd repeatedly suggest Costa's candidacy. The 25 year-old's development in the last couple of seasons has been transparently exponential. And so far this season, Costa's run of 10 goals in just 7 games has been simply sensational, propelling him to the top scorer accolades in Europe right now. Costa's astonishing start to the season means he has done what even Radamel Falcao could not do in his two campaigns at the Madrid club: score in 5 consecutive games in La Liga. Costa should be worth some consideration from us, especially since it's not entirely unreasonable that we might only have Torres and Lukaku up front after this season.

Sports Illustrated: Why's Chelsea's star Juan Mata stuck on the bench?

A hint of yet another perspective, albeit questionable, that goes both beyond Mourinho's formal explanation for dropping Mata, as well as those media's conspiracy theories on Mou's alleged aversion towards Spanish players.

Mourinho: No January recall option clause in Lukaku's Everton loan deal

This confirmation of virtually a preemptive strike against our own, still vulnerable, striker corps might be perplexing at best, if not arguably short-sighted. Mou is playing a high stakes game by placing his apparent BET (Ba, Eto'o, Torres) squarely on the shoulders of that trident up front. If things don't work out as planned, we could be forced to shell out more money for a center forward come January.

Forbes: UCL - The 4 Rules To Follow To Hit The Financial Jackpot

We already know from earlier WAGNH's articles that we did relatively OK financially across England in the UCL last season despite our premature, yet character building, detour to the EL pastures. This brief Bobby McMahon's article, nonetheless, contains some other notable comparative stats, in addition to the holy grail of UCL's prosperity.

The English Football Invasion of America

A pretty humorous piece on the English football revolution rapidly sweeping the TVs, hearts and minds of the ordinary American sports fans. It was written by the chief sports reporter of the Times of London exclusively for the Wall Street Journal.

Fernando Torres is transparently a team player

Torres, in a 180 degrees turnaround from the Drogba days, emphasizes that Eto'o is his friend, not enemy, while also singing all around praises to the Cameroonian striker .

Mourinho: This is my club

When the man speaks, we listen. This is an edited version of an in-depth interview that appears in the new edition of Champions Matchday magazine

Number-crunched: Premier League summer transfers by club, country, age and position

The article graphically summarizes some fun stats about this past transfer window, and also includes the summer transfer spending spreadsheet to run any additional analysis and comparisons, one can think of.

Ramires firmly samba-dances back into Scolari's good graces

Following an overwhelmingly dominant victory in Brazil's friendly over Australia, Scolari made some positive and insightful comments about Ramires.

Forbes: Why The Premier League Spent Close To A Billion Dollars And Will Likely Spend More A Year From Now

Bobby McMahon (who's recently predicted, in a visionary manner, that Chelsea will win this season's PL title largely due to JM's ''Cult of Personality" alive and well at the Bridge, surrounded by the atmosphere of eternal love) outlines each PL club's transfer surplus/deficit during this past transfer window, then factors in the injection of broadcasting rights/revenues in 2014, and illustrates its cumulative knock on effect on each of those teams.

Laser Sharkovic reveals the mystery behind his move to Benfica

According to the young Serbian striker, it was Chelsea who had fumbled his signing for whatever reason...but in an apparent act of gaffe, as opposed to Benfica hijacking his services at the last minute of his 'very long engagement' saga. It's probably unfortunate he isn't listed as an AM player.

Mourinho on the Super Cup: "The best team lost..."

Post Eden Arena's match interview highlights. Mourinho also draws some historic parallels, and comes to a dramatic conclusion that lady luck has just not been by his side in some notably significant matches. It's pretty awesome to see his ostensibly eternal passion to win.

Mourinho reinforces the club's position on Mata, and explains his rationale behind the Spaniard's benching against United

At this point, common sense is mandatory, Valium is optional, Ayahuasca is only for the last of the skeptics remaining standing.

Perhaps a good Chelsea omen from the world of boxing?

As the new EPL season unfolded yesterday, a tremendously entertaining and hard fought, down to the wire, boxing title clash took place last night in Atlantic City. Though HBO's boxing analysts had never mentioned football per se, it became quite obvious during the broadcast that the challenger, a Londoner, Darren Barker, was an ardent Chelsea fan. The bout pitted Barker (in the royal blue trunks) against his opponent, Daniel Geale, a titleholder (in the red trunks). Despite getting brutally knocked down in the 6th round ('a la' our trivial mid-season slump) and being badly lacerated, Barker had ultimately prevailed with the belt after 12 rounds, against all odds. Yet, while Barker technically outpointed his nemesis in the ring, this epic battle's triumph was predominantly achieved due to his sheer heart, will, and determination to win. Sounds familiar? Fight coverage/details:

A Premier League of Nations: EPL's global game hits landmark 100th different foreign nationality

The article includes a graphical representation of the breakdown of nationalities per club. Chelsea, of course, is featuring its own distinctively cosmopolitan flavor, while having it ideally paired up with England's "The Magnificent Seven".

From £200m Messi to £20m Lukaku: Europe’s 60 most valuable players this summer

This is an insightful snapshot of the recently published 2013 Annual Review by CIES Football Observatory (Switzerland) that provides comparative analysis and market valuations of the clubs and players in the 'Big 5' leagues.

Roman Abramovich's senior adviser, Grigori Rasputin (presently reincarnated as Marina Granovskaia), joins Chelsea hierarchy

Apparently the position would render her one of the most powerful women operating in English football. Also is there perhaps a new culprit behind the acquisition of Torres (if anyone still cares)?
