The Dolphin looks a little bit... fiercer, I guess? The color scheme is also changed around a little bit: there's now navy blue in the sun, and an orange underline under the dolphin. Just a thought. If this is indeed the new logo, I like it a lot, in my opinion it looks a lot cooler than the one we've had for the last fifteen years or so.

Howdy folks. For my English 103 class I have to do a research paper, and I need to do primary research. Naturally, I chose to write about the MMA in New York battle, and I decided to come on down to the good fellas at Bloody Elbow to do said primary research. I just have a couple questions for you guys, if you would be kind enough to answer. It would be extremely appreciated.

1. How do you think the legalization of MMA in New York would benefit the sport?

2. How do you think it would benefit the state?

3. What do you think is the biggest obstacle standing in the way?

You guys might remember Blagoi Ivanov, the talented young Bulgarian fighter who was in the Bellator heavyweight tournament last year, submitting Zak Jensen before withdrawing from the tourney due to injury. Before that, he was known for defeating Fedor Emelianenko in the 2008 World Sambo Championships, winning the gold. Well, in February he was stabbed in a fight at a restaurant and has been fighting for his life for the last few months. Thankfully, Ivanov has recovered enough to be released from the hospital. Although it was uncertain whether he would survive, he apparently made a miraculous recovery. It's unclear whether he will ever return to competition, but no doubt he will try his hardest. Congratulations to Ivanov, and hopefully we'll see him once again in the cage.

So, the Kings waived JJ Hickson. What do you guys think of potentially picking him up? I think he'd be a perfect signing. Big, athletic, can run the floor, and is a good rebounder. Only 23 years old. Stock's dropped somewhat, so he won't cost as much. I say buy out Cook and make this move. Hickson will provide some more size to our frontcourt, and with Nene, Seraphin and Booker we can get some real nastiness going down low. No-brainer, Ernie.

Matt Moore deserves some credit

I am not claiming that Matt Moore is a perfect quarterback. He has his faults, plenty of them (fumbling, holding the ball too long, can be inaccurate in the short and intermediate passing game). All I'm saying is that Moore really deserves credit for the way he's played down the stretch this year, and the way he has led this team's turnaround. First of all, the man throws the deep ball and runs play-action as well as anyone. He's had some absolutely lights-out games this year. Most of all, he has STONES. Unlike Checkdown Chad, Moore has shown that he has the courage to throw the ball downfield and make the throws you need to make to win football games. Some people say he doesn't have what it takes to lead this team from behind; I say he answered those questions against the Jets, when he led the team on a 95 yard drive, completing something like 13 of 14 passes, and throwing what was essentially the game-winning touchdown pass in the 4th quarter. It seems that whenever the Dolphins win, Moore gets none of the credit, and all of the blame when they lose. This simply isn't fair to a guy that helped turn around a dead-to-rights 0-7 team to a team that won 6 of 9 down the stretch.

So how should we proceed with Moore? With Barkley out of the draft, our options for top-tier QBs in the draft is somewhat limited, pretty much down to Luck and Griffin (I'm really not sold on Landry Jones, if he comes out). Since we'll likely be picking at around 8th or 9th, we probably don't have a shot at those guys. We could trade up, but I don't think that's the right strategy. We has some real pressing holes (Tackle, safety, WR depth, pass rush) and giving up picks to get higher in the top ten. Rather, we should trade down, stockpile more picks, and address some of the other issues. At the very least, Moore has shown that he's an extremely capable backup, who should at least have a decent shot at the starting job next year. I would suggest taking someone we could get later on, perhaps Ryan Tannehill, and start Moore. Moore can get the job done, and if he's not the QB of the future, he can at least be a damn good stopgap for a while.

Through a combination of having too much time on my hands and wanting something to distract me from the Dolphins getting beat by the Jets, I have concocted the greatest MMAth equation of all time.

Perhaps you have heard of 1-30 MMA fighter Kenneth Allen. Well, according to this equation he is the greatest fighter to ever put on 4 ounce gloves.

Kenneth Allen > Cory Simpson > Jake Burriola > Shawn Nolan > Matt Albright > Rory Prazak > Matt Bauler > Kirk Nielsen > Joe Germain > Brad Floyd > Zak Laird > Bill Kamery > Will Shutt > Steven Saito > Albert Manners > Ed Newalu > Dan Swift > Billy Vaughan > James Jones > Ian Loveland > Tyler Toner > Brandon Visher > Courtney Buck > Mike Lambrecht > Ryan Stock > James Mead > Pete Vandervort > Joey Welch > Erik Alegria > Travis Henderson > Patrick Reeves > Isaac Vallie-Flagg > Brian Melancon > Felipe Portela > Jack Montgomery > Mike Crisman > John Wood > Jay Grimsley > Gabriel Miranda > Ray Perales > Brad Blackburn > Ryo Chonan > Anderson Silva.
