Habs Eyes On The Prize Retour sur le mois d'octobre

My name is Olivier Bouchard; I've been operating what I think is one of the few (haven't found another, in fact...) french-speaking stats-oriented hockey blogs out there, En attendant les Nordiques.

Kevin van Steendelaar offered me to contribute some french material to this excellent blog. I happily accepted and so here is the first of a monthly series about the Habs performances. I hope you all enjoy this!

Du spectre des blessures, en passant par une série de défaites ayant causé bien des interrogations sur le statut du coach, jusqu'à la nomination de Carey Price comme joueur du mois dans la LNH (rien de moins!), le hockey est de retour à Montréal.

Arctic Ice Hockey Montreal - Boston


The Habs started the season on a strong swing, bolting atop the division, before fading in the standings. The Bruins overtook them and (almost) never looked back.


There is padding on the phone booth's stanchion, so let's get this thing rolling, shall we?

Arctic Ice Hockey Playoff preview: Boston vs Buffalo


Boston takes on Buffalo tonight. Both teams, at season's end, boasted a mighty fine PK, rather suspect PP with the Sabres holding a nice advantage in ES goal differential. All in all this translated into a 9 points differential in the standings. So the Sabres are the clear favourites, right?

Arctic Ice Hockey Washington Capitals vs. MontrĂ©al Canadiens preview

So. the reviews are pouring in and the chips are being thrown around: it's playoffs time! As the habs designated bean-counter for the scoring chances project, I was offered the Washington-Montréal preview by Gabriel. That it is probably the most lop-sided matchup around the league should make my job easier, no?
