Benson said he is also trying to change the name of the NBA team to better fit the ambience, culture and charm of New Orleans.

"We need to find a name like (Jazz)," Benson said, referring to New Orleans first NBA team that relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979. "Whether we can get that or let us use that, you've got to know we're working on it. We'd like to change it tomorrow. We have not gotten that approved, but we're not letting up on it, either. Because we've got a good relationship with the commissioner and his people and we're going to be on them daily to do something."

[Bumped -R]So the talks are centered around Jordan Hill (craps pants) and Hasheem Thabeet. The teams have also talked about Patrick Patterson (Rohan craps pants) Jonny Flynn, and another dude who I won't mention because I'm to lazy to go back to the page. Also, the Knicks 1st MIGHT be in play, and I'd really like that. Oh yeah, the other dude was Terrence Williams.

Mexico's Gustavo Ayon has signed with the New Orleans Hornets for three years, two of them uninsured, and five million dollars, say several sources and its representative, Emilio Duran. "With the Hornets is confirmed, the deal is complete," Duran said by telephone.

The representative of Mexico said that only tune missing some details with the Spanish club Fuenlabrada, where he played Ayón team. "You have to define a clause in the contract for the output of 1.5 million dollars," said Duran. The Fuenlabrada did everything possible for the player to stay in Madrid Aztec, but Ayon wants to play in the NBA. "For him (Gustavo) has always been a dream to play in the NBA and represent your country," said Duran.

The interest of Ayon Hornets came in the summer camps and once lifted the stoppage of the NBA team contacted his representative. "There was always interest of the team, then came to see him in Madrid," said the representative, who also said there were two other teams, Indiana and Denver, interested in the Mexican.

The center played 33 Mexican games last season with the team Fuenlabrada Madrid with an average of 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Ayon, 26 years old, has been selected by Mexico since 2007.

Hornets talking to Jamal Crawford. Don't think they have the $ to sign him, but it's nice to hear that they're talking to lots of players. Jamal told me on Twitter that he's thought about coming to NOLA.

At The Hive The Heartless GM's CP3 Trade Destinations

  • Detroit Pistons -- What landing place is better than Detroit? Chris could play for a team that was the 3rd most popular team in the city. Detroit, Michigan -- Where the weather is bleak and the economy is bleaker.
  • Toronto Raptors -- Every NBA player dreams of playing in Toronto, and CP3 can live the dream. Who wouldn't want to play in front of 16 thousand cheering Canadians?
  • Sacramento Kings -- Most big ticket basketball players weigh the nightlife in a city before they commit to playing there. And boy, is Sacramento hopping at 3 in the afternoon.
  • Utah Jazz -- Chris seems to be a pretty religious guy, I'm sure he'd love to hang with his Mormon fans; i.e. all of his Utah fans.
  • Indiana Pacers -- He could possibly follow his "brother" David West to Indiana. IS ANYWHERE MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN INDIANA?!?!

disclaimer: OnPointLikeCP3 does not advocate trading Chris Paul to any of these teams. EXCEPT INDIANA!!! IS ANYWHERE MORE AWESOME THAN INDIANA!!!

From the FanShots:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

• The New Orleans Hornets had no regrets about trading their first-round pick for Jerryd Bayless. They moved him for guard Jarrett Jack(notes), who helped them make the playoffs this season. The Hornets have a second-round pick (No. 45), and have had talks on deals which would get them back into the first round.

At The Hive Are The Hornets The NBA's Least Tattooed Team?

The other day I was thinking of tattoos in the NBA, that lead to which team has the most tattoos, which I coucluded as either the Warriors or the Nuggets, but probably the Nuggs.  With the Hornets being my favorite team, I wondered if the had the least amount of tats, and so I decided to do some picture analysis to find out.

Chris Paul: None visible.  CP3 doesn't strike me as the type to have a hidden tat, but I've been wrong about that before...

Chris_paul3bg_medium

Marco Belinelli:  None visible.  Really, are there any white guys in the NBA with tattoos, I can only think of White Chocolate (Now Retired Jason Williams)and Chris "Birdman" Anderson, and both of them are drug-addled anyhow.

Hornets-consider-to-keep-marco-belinelli_medium

Trevor Ariza:  Yes. Trevor wins the Most Tattoed Player on the Hornets Award, a much envied trophy, that made him the talk of the locker room.  Of course, Trevor did nothing to stir his teammates up, all he did was sit in front of his locker, smirking and carressing the ribbon.  Finally, Willie Green stole it, and DJ Mbenga used said ribbon as TP.

Trevor_ariza_shows_his_arm_tattoos_medium

David West:  Yes.  David is the only other Hornet with tattoos, that I can think of off the top of my head.

David-west_medium

Emeka Okafor:  No.  Emeka seems to look more like a Chemistry Professor than a starting NBA Center.  I have never met a 7 foot tall guy who teaches Chemistry 101, but I'm sure he'd look like Emeka.

Fantasy_g_okafor_200_medium

Jarrett Jack: No.  J-Jack has no visible tats, arms, neck, legs, anywhere, which leads me to believe that he has no tattoos.

Act_jarrett_jack_medium

Willie Green: No. Willie reminds me of your local pediatrician, and there is an unspoken rule among pediatricians that you can't have any ink for that might scare the seven year old you are tending to.  Since Willie is a pediatrician, he doesn't have tattoos.

Act_willie_green_medium

Carl Landry:  He doesn't have any tattoos.  Or teeth for that matter.

Landry_inside2_080924_medium

Quincy Pondexter:  No.  Quincy Pondexter is another guy that looks like he would fit in just as well at your local elementary school as he would as an NBA player.  Q-Pon looks like a 3rd Grade teacher, and 3rd grade teachers have the same rules for tattoos as pediatricians do.  No. Ink.

Act_quincy_pondexter_medium

Aaron Gray:  Aaron Gray is an unathletic white guy.  He has no tattoos.  (I just demolished ppellico's street cred in two sentences)

Gray6_071011_medium

Patrick Ewing Jr:  No tattoos.  He's also as chill a bro as you can find, without tats.  A truly impossible feat.

East_men_basketball_tournament_day_4_4fy1arb0pkkl_medium

Jason Smith:  The same terms as apply to Aaron Gray, except with a slightly better jump shot.  And spiky hair.  And the middle name Victor.

Deh-hornets-jason-smith-098_jpg_medium

David Anderson (Or Andersen, I'm not quite sure):  No tattoos.  The same terms as apply to Jason Smith and Aaron Gray, except even weaker and unathletic-er than those two.  And with an earring.  Wowzers.

C2bce203fb5699c6d43f7cc6_medium

DJ Mbenga:  No visible ink.  Even though he's a DJ.  Don't all DJ's have tattoos and headphones???  My secure little world has been shaken...

Mbengafreethrow-199x300_medium

So, the Hornets only have two players with tattoos, which I think makes them the least tatted team in hoops.  Congrats, boys.  Hope you enjoyed the ride @TH'ers.

At The Hive Hornets Offseason in NBA 2K11

I've decided to put on my GM hat and guide the Hornets through the offseason.  As I started Hornets Association on my Xbox 360, I had two plans.  To save money and to make the team deeper.  I think I did both.

Player Re-Signing:  I re-signed Patrick Ewing Jr.  I also had a pleasant suprise as David West picked up his player option.  Landry decided not to re-sign with us and I opted to let Willie, Marcus Banks, David Anderson, Mbenga, Jason Smith, and Aaron Gray walk.  Marco left as a restricted free agent.

The Draft:  The Hornets ended up with the 20th pick in the 1st round.  I forgot that we traded it for Bayless, and up popped a trade from the Pistons.  They were offering the 3rd pick and Rip Hamilton for Quincy, Emeka and the 20th pick.  It sheds Okafor's hefty salary, we get a starting caliber Shooting Guard, and I remembered Enes Kanter was still on the board.  I picked up the big man from Turkey.  Next, I sent Ariza to Phoenix for the 21st pick and Josh Childress.  Tyler Honeycutt from UCLA was still there, so I drafted him to groom as a future starting small forward, while Childress could start right away.  My dealing wasn't done yet.  I traded J-Jack and our 2nd round pick to Toronto for the 1st pick of the 2nd round and Sonny Weems.  The newest Hornet was Lucas Nogueira, the center from Brazil.  That was the end of the draft for me, with money saved and young players picked.

Free Agency:  In free agency I signed Arron Afflalo, Leon Powe, and Delonte West to fill up Jarret Jack's old backup slot.  Afflalo was signed for defense off the bench, Powe was another big body at power forward.

That's the end of my offseason, here's the roster:

PG: Chris Paul, Delonte West

SG: Richard Hamilton, Arron Afflalo

SF: Josh Childress, Tyler Honeycutt, Sonny Weems, Patrick Ewing

PF: David West, Leon Powe

C:  Enes Kanter, Lucas Nogueira

The season went terriblely.  The Hornets finished 24-58.  CP3 declined his player option, but luckily I was able to bring him back with a 6 year deal.  David West also re-signed, so happier times must be on their way to New Orleans.

At The Hive Hornets Caption Contest ft. Awkward Smirks

Ike Diogu know he's supposed to smile, but he doesn't know what he's smiling about.  Does Byron Scott have his fly open?  Did he notice there's no Gatorade next to him for his press conference?  You tell me.

  • A hearty "good one!" from me.
  • A rec, +1, or something like that from other commenters.
  • Awkward pictures of Darius Songaila appearing in their dreams for the next month or so.
  • A chance to have a first person tour of Willie Green's raccoon kennel.

Well, have fun captioning/rec'ing/+1'ing!

Why are you so stupid Knicks? Gallo, Felton, Mozgof, and Chandler to Denver. You lose most of your core! Melo would've just signed in NY at the end of the year, and you would've kept your core starters. Depth Decimation.
