I am a white, Appalachian, male (WAM for short). I played college baseball at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC where I received a BA in Political Science (1999). I graduated from West Virginia University with a MS in Phyiscal Education with an emphasis in Athletic Coaching Education (2001). I graduated from Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education with a MDiv (2007). I am a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). I am married to Beloved (who is also a Teaching Elder). I work at Presbyterian Church in Nebraska. I am ADHD and extroverted. I am a type one diabetic and prefer stream of consciousness as opposed to well formed thoughts.

I am a DIE HARD West Virginia Mountaineer fan! Let’s Go…

I was in school for 21 years of my life, which means that I know for sure that I don’t know a lot.

What they hell are they doing at UVA?

You know hip-hop's mainstream when...this video happens. I once met a female alumnus from the University of Virginia that was pissed that the students were no longer "dressing up" for football...

A closer look at Dana Holgorsen - Big East Blog - ESPN

What I like is he has an eye for the pass and what the defense is giving him. 29th in rushing this year at OSU suggests that if he has the personnel to run he'll run. Based on what we've got I'm having a hard time not getting excited.

Ranking the bowls, from best to worst - ESPN

Our game is ranked 15 out of 35. I hope our secondary can stop Wilson, I'd put Irvin in on every play he might have 10 sacks

WVU headed to Champs Sports Bowl - Sports - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports -

So much for going to a game this year for me. Plus I'll be traveling this day so I won't even get to see it. Damn that sucks! I was actually hoping for the Car Care Bowl

WVU football: Nine victories puts Mountaineers in big-time company - Jack Bogaczyk - Charleston Daily Mail - West Virginia News and Sports -

This is what I'm talking about. Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at the big picture and remember that it is not always as bad as it seems.

Who would a thunk it?

Who would have ever thought that we would have a better record than Texas (4-5) and think, "Damn this season is terrible!"? I mean seriously? Texas was in the National Championship Game last year...

Thoughts about Art Briles (Baylor) as a possible replacement to StewBeef

Looking at his record his has been successful at schools with less of a reputation than WVU and I've been thinking about it for the last week or so. Neither Baylor or Houston were known for their defense this might be a "good" hire that could result in us keeping Casteel. Thoughts?

West Virginia looks to rev up stalled offense - Big East Blog - ESPN

I like Geno's quote at the end. We'll see if more than my blood pressure gets revved up this Friday.

Share Your Fuzzy Memories of the Now Dead "PIT"

Check out the story from 2000. I'm sure some of you drank at my truck!

NOTES — Wide receivers Logan Heastie and Deon Long were not with the team for the first practice and apparently are not going to play. Coach Bill Stewart said he would welcome them back but they better be ready to push a 45-pound weight and run the stadium steps all spring … Three players — fullback Ryan Clark, cornerback Brandon Hogan and defensive back Brantwon Bowser — spent the entire two-hour practice running the stadium steps, Stewart saying they had not met his physical conditioning requirements. Hogan and Clarke are starters … Starting defensive tackle Scooter Berry is not practicing as he recovers from surgery while wide receiver Brad Starks is practicing but slowed by an ankle sprain while playing basketball.

The Herald-Sun - Bonfire heats up Duke campus as students celebrate

I guess since it's "school sanctioned" and they "got a permit" having a roaring fire in the Quad is OK, could you imagine if they did this at the MountainLair or Boreman South or even the Towers. This is my favorite quote: Duke junior Victor Chou, en route to the stadium, was confident. "I think we're going to do it tonight," said Chou, who, like almost everybody on campus, it appeared, was wearing a Duke T-shirt. "We've been waiting a long time for this and it's going to happen tonight." You're right "Duke junior Victor Chou" it has been a long time. A whole 9 years...I mean you were in like, what, 6th grade? Finally the curse has been broken...Hallelujah! Assholes!

How can you not love this guy?

Love that the lady didn't want to go to the hospital until after the game.

NCAA Changes (My Two Cents)

Today I sit at home watching the ACC tournament as we start to close the books on the college basketball season and get ready for March Madness. Today is Selection Sunday! Over the last few weeks...

NCAA Changes (My Two Cents)

Here's what I think about the possible changes in the NCAA Tournament. Would love your feedback.

Student Section Conduct Conducive to Epic Blow-Up

IMHO I thought this was a fairly reasoned article that lays out where we're headed.

Thanks Guys!

While sometimes I think the verbiage on this particular site is a little NSFW (esp since I work for a church) it does give me a wonderful outlet to talk WVU sports and a little trash, both things I...

Listen to the Captain!

"It's annoying, it really is, honestly. It shows people watching the game from home or from out of state that we have no class. It gives our team and our state a bad name in general and that's not...
