Inside-ish info from Bibby's Mix 'N' Bowl last night

various pieces of info:

Webber was there (he was MC-ing the charity auction) and gave my dad a gift card to his restaurant.

Miller, Garcia, and Beno weren't there. But everyone else was.

Kenny Thomas bowled a 196, the top score of the players. Artest was not good and he told everyone he was not going to be good.

It seemed like Hawes didn't really have any friends on the time. He was a little awkward. The highlight being when he was introduced to a girl who works for my dad named Kara, who is 19. They had a really awkward hug, during which her head entered his armpit a little bit. Awesome.

Reggie Theus interview

I would like to hear everyone's thoughts about Reggie Theus' interview with Cheryl Miller on TNT last night. I thought it was good. He was impressive. It seems like he know what he's doing and definitely the players respect him more than they did the last coach (thats from Bibby). I especially enjoyed the clips of Hang Time, which is perhaps the greatest TV show of all time. But please everyone, let me know what you thought.

What happened?! I don't know. Inexperience? Not enough gel? Play calling? 34% shooting sure didn't help. I thought we had this one. I have nothing to say. Just tears.

I copied and pasted below what I wrote above so the 300 character minimum requirement would be met. I think that the amount of characters accurately conveys my feelings.

What happened?! I don't know. Inexperience? Not enough gel? Play calling? 34% shooting sure didn't help.
Ailene Voisin

Ailene Voisin is the worst sports writer I have ever come across. I was talking with Mike Bibby the other day and I told him about something she quoted him on in the paper and he said that everyone on the team as well as the organization tries to avoid her because she always twists everyone's words and quotes them as saying things that they've never even said. Bibby said she is even known to make up interviews based on information that she heard from someone else. Wow. So I have stopped reading her articles. They are garbage.

I couldn't reply to anymore of the posts so I had to extend the original diary. Here is what Bibby and other players have said about Voisin: They said that what happens is that she will overhear conversations between a player and another reporter or Petrie and another reporter or between a player and another player and then she will report them as if she had been interviewing them. And I'm sure that the other reporters are aware of this. The players obviously are. They said they all avoid her as much as possible. So, I'm just reporting what they tell me/my father. I'm not here to say why she does it. I have no idea.

(From the diaries with some editing. - TZ)

Mike Bibby is running a basketball camp and I told him about this site (props TZ, he knows about you now) and he asked me to post the information about it on here. So, here I go:

Its July 23 to July 27 from 9 am to 2 pm. Open to all ages, both male and female.

Register at mikebibby.com, which also has more details about the camp. The confirmed NBA players that will be present, coaching and playing are listed on the flyer above. Mike says most Kings players, Jameel Pugh and maybe Coach Theus will also be there.

Check it out!

Last thoughts on Musselman

My father makes the jerseys as well as many custom clothing orders for the Kings' players and personnel. I thought that you all would like to know his take on Muss. He said that he had to make a plethora of jerseys for the coach. Basketball jerseys, baseball, football, etc. And that the coach would get these jerseys autographed and then had my dad frame them for him. This, in addition to his socializing with the players, makes me think that Muss was 'just happy to be there'. It sounds like he cared more about autographs than winning. Also, my dad has a constant dialogue with Bibby (he's helping Bibby put on the summer camp), who has mentioned multiple times that the players had no respect for their coach last season due to the things I just mentioned.

Danny Ainge/First Draft Pick

Durant or Oden?

I am from Sacramento, but I'm currently a student at BYU. I attended BYU's last regular season home game in which they won the regular season title (don't worry, I'm not a Cougars fan). Anyway, Danny Ainge and Mrs. Ainge were there watching their son Austin Ainge, who is on BYU's team. After the game, I approached Danny to discuss the draft. My conversation with him proceeded as follows (oh and this was before the Durant's mom incident):

OB: "Hey Danny."

DA: "Hi."

OB: "You're kind of in charge of the draft for the Celtics right?"

DA: "Right."

OB: "If you get the first pick in the draft who are you going to pick?"

DA: "I don't know. I can't say."

OB: "You don't know or you can't say?"

DA: "I dunno."

OB: "Well let's just discuss then."

DA: "Okay."

OB: "I think Oden is really good. His footwork is decent, he can make free throws with his left hand, he's got a developed body, and he looks very mature. I think that in a few years he can be a very good big man. But Durant is the man. He's skinny but he's got time. He's like a McGarnett (McGrady and Garnett mix). I say you pick him if you can."

DA: "Okay, I'll think about it. They are both incredible kids. If we get the first pick, I honestly don't know who I would choose, but I love 'em both. I think they could both contribute to our organization."

OB: "Yeah well I think you should take Durant."

DA: "We'll see."

Okay, so this inside information wasn't too inside, but he obviously like my insights on Durant since he's been hanging out with his mom lately.
