Old School Flyers Question
There was a book that I read about 5 years ago. It detailed a lot of the expansion of the NHL and the greedy owners. Problem is that I don't remember the name or author. The thing I do remember is that the author said he was the lawyer for the Flyers during the Broad Street Bullies era before going on to work for the Players Association. He represented players when they got into a fight with a fan after a game in NY and when a DA in Canada threatened to file assault charges on anyone who got into a fight during a game (which I think was directed towards knocking the Flyers off their game.) If anyone remembers the book or author who I'm thinking of or anywhere that would help me out would be great.
Collumn Help Needed
Dear SCH readers,
I come to you looking for help. I have started writing a column on the Hawks for Loyola's newspaper. As of the first week, it has been called Blackhawks Down Low. My editor came up with the name, and I'm looking for something a little more catchy to name it. It will run weekly through the season and will basically be my way of updating students on the state of the Hawks. Any name suggestions would be great. Also, if anyone would please read my stuff and tear it apart and criticize me, I'd appreciate it. I think my first week sucked because I was told to summarize the offseason and beginning of the season. That was way too much info to cover in 700 words. But tell me everything I can improve on so that I can inform as many people as possible. I have thick skin so don't be shy to tell me that I'm a moron and where I should shove my column (just make it constructive-ish). Here's the
link where you can tear me a new one.
I'd also take suggestions on topics I should cover. This week will be an analysis of Huet along with some forecasts. I'm not sure if this will cover the full column though. All suggestions will be considered.
Thanks a lot,
Blackhawks Alumni Softball Game
The second annual 16" softball game between the Chicago Fire / Police Departments and the Chicago Blackhawks Alumni is scheduled for Monday, September 7th (Labor Day) at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood. The entire current Hawks roster is expected to be in attendance along with Stan Mikita, Tony Esposito, Denis Savard, Jack O’Callahan, Cliff Koroll, Reggie Kerr, Dave Mackey, Steve Poapst, Brian Noonan, Troy Murray, and Grant Mulvey. All tickets are $12 and are general admission. The current roster is going to be signing autographs for fans during the game.
I worked for the Thunderbolts concessions all summer so I got an email asking me to work, otherwise I might not have heard about this. There's nothing on the Hawks site about this, but here's a link to the Thunderbolts story on it. http://www.wcthunderbolts.com/pressbox/press/index.html?article_id=555. Standard Bank Stadium is located at 14011 S. Kenton in Crestwood. Right near the corner of Cicero and Midlothian Turnpike.

Rick Dudley resigns as Blackhawks Assistant General Manager
http://ow.ly/eS2m
Rick Dudley has resigned as assistant GM effective immediately. "Rick has informed me that he has resigned from his position with the Blackhawks to pursue other opportunities," General Manager Dale Tallon said. "I would like to extend my gratitude to him for his work with our organization and certainly wish him well in the future."
Dudley served four years in the Blackhawks hockey operations, which includes each of the last three as the club’s assistant general manager.
Who achieved their "One Goal?"
As a part of the Blackhawks marketing this year, the players were featured in commercials with their goals for the season. Well now that the season has ended, I thought I'd go back and see who achieved their goals and who failed.
