Emerald Bowl Site Visit
The bowl game site visit is one of my favorite things. There is a lot of inside scoop info... some of which I will share with you. :)
In no particular order...
- The Miami Marching Band is bringing their full band and performing both a pregame and halftime show.
- The Emerald Bowl halftime show will feature both bands only - there will be no (literally) breath-taking fireworks crapfest extravaganza. (Holiday Bowl anyone?)
- I know what uniform combination they are leaning towards, but I can't tell you what it is. I accept bribes.
- Cal's will call will be at the Lefty O'Doul entrance near the Juan Marichal statue.
- Cal's students will be in sections A & B of the sideline bleachers (500 seats), right behind the Cal Team Bench. The Miami students will similarly be in sections D & E of the sideline bleachers, right behind the Miami Team Bench.
- Cal has only sold about 400 student tickets (disappointing), so section 135 will no longer be student seats but general admission seats.
- At this point, the Oakland Alameda Ferry will NOT be running its AT&T Park service for the bowl game. Something about the weather and the docks being privately owned.
- Parking in all the regular Giants lots is $20 per car. Yes, even for Parking Lot A.
- In the second iteration of the manual, one of the gift's title was updated to "Armor Gear Rolling Sherpa Luggage Bag." They joked that just having "Armor Gear Rolling Sherpa" was misleading. :)
Below the fold, some fun pictures of the site and more information for fans.

Maryland Athletics E-Newsletter
I subscribed to the Maryland Athletics E-Newsletter back in February and this is the first post I've gotten. Enjoy!
Dear Erin,
Fans are invited to join Maryland head football coach Ralph Friedgen as we kickoff the 2008 edition of the Ralph Friedgen radio show, hosted by Johnny Holliday, live from the Outback Steakhouse in Aspen Hill on Wednesday, August 27th at 8pm! Coach Friedgen will discuss training camp, the season opener against Delaware as well as answer questions from the fans.
Students, Alumni, and all Terrapin fans are invited to join Coach Friedgen to ask questions on-location or by calling in toll free (888) 372-9535.
Visit UMTerps.com and click on the "Ask Ralph" button to submit your questions for the coach. One question will be answered live on the show each week. UMTerps.com is also the place to find additional scheduling information.

Women's Huddle!
Best. Event. Ever. If you are a woman. :)
What: Cal Women's Huddle
Date: Friday, August 1st
Time: 4:30-6:00pm registration, event begins at 6:00pm, social to follow event. (The fun part is from 4:30-6 with the eating and drinking!)
Time: Memorial Stadium
Why: Do you need a reason to hang out with football players and coaches?
Registration is available:
http://calbears.cstv.com/camps/footballwomenshuddle.html
Like last year, the online form totally sucks. Not only do you have to create an account, you have to list what school you attend, your height, weight, high school gradation year, your roommate preference, and more useless information! All lame fields required!
If you don't want to go through this, there is a nice printable form that you can mail or fax in from the above link. That would be my suggestion. :)
The price is $35 per person (no discounts for signing up together) before Monday, July 28. Otherwise, it's $40 at the door.
Description:
Every year, the football coaches and staff put on this "Women's Huddle" to teach basic drills to women interested in Cal football. That's the official tagline - besides doing this, we get to meet the players, coaches, and staff while enjoying hearty food and booze! It's tons of fun for only $35 per person.
GO BEARS!
erin :)
