Lol, they expect JT to carry the team on his back with little help. That's funny.
Commented on Let's Make a Deal: Trade Josh Bailey or Trade Michael Grabner? on Jul 23 2014, 4:25p
Aside from last season, where Bailey scored at a much higher rate than his usual on the PP, they are about equal in pts scored/PPtoi.

Yeah, but I think trading Bailey for Franson is a dream. I mean, I know the Leafs aren't in love with him, but he's still a gigantic puckmoving d-man who's shown real 40-50pts potential.

Green's contract is rough, but when healthy, he's still a top 30 offensive d-man with good possession abilities and great on the PK.

I understand, but Bailey really shouldn't have many fans. Aside from another late season offensive surge and a bit of chemistry with Nielsen, Bailey has shown no reason at all to be kept long term.

You mean, his first 30 assist and + possession season of his career?

Me too, but I fear the above is the actual situation, in which I'd probably rather keep both for the time being, and if there are no injuries in training camp, dump bailey for something.

So would you prefer we dump bailey for near nothing or trade a Grabner for 1yr of Franson/Green? If that was the scenario?

Just given the goalsagainst/20 rate dropping, I'd assume part of it.

Even in Bailey's best offensive year, his shot rate went up ~33% and his SH% was 3% higher than his career average. It was obviously an anomaly, and his possession numbers weren't even that good either(at 49.5%).

Also, on the charts above, Bailey without Frans and Grabner without Frans are missing. (Corsi percentage also doesn't take role into account(IE: heavy d-zone starts/top competition).

Gotcha.

Yeah, we can still trade for him. Oilers signed a lot of people and he's the most expendable one now(given term/cost/etc)

Yeah, I don't even want to get into union and such, there are a lot of intricacies if you want to further into that.

Yeah, my grandpa did similar, but he worked 2 jobs to do so. No idea what he made though.

Yeah. I only knew about that because a friend went into plumbing. Apprenticed and made solid money, became a head/main plumber and is taking in over $100k without overtime.

Age is a big decider for gov't jobs too when applying. Post office only takes certain ages, and my NYPD friend said it takes years for a call after you take the tests, and once hit a certain age(late 20's), your chances are next to zero for getting the

Massage therapy could be a trade, but beware the social aspect. I've gone to a number of massage therapists and the massage therapist either loves to talk or the people getting the massage love to talk.

It's not too sad. I wouldn't mind being a stay at home dad if I met the right person(or 2nd salary job) :-).

Yeah. I can see that with the transition thing, still an interesting comparison imo.

Green had 1 of the best offensive seasons from a d-man ever. Iafrate has not. Iafrate was no slouch, but Green at peak was insane. Every offensive skill you could want from a d-man.

When was the last time we had an A on a 4th liner though? :-)

Oh yeah. And you're not alone by the way. My dad owns a business and one of his workers is 45yrs and married to(what we call) a "sugar mama".

Maybe a trade school and eventually start as an apprentice plumber or electrician or mechanic or carpenter, if money is what you're looking for.

He's 26 now, so I'm not sure about that.

Kulemin's production was a lot better with Grabo though. And that's all I really worry about.

I don't think so. What are the odds an already vastly slowing down Iginla is even servicab;e at 40yrs old, plus that $5mil/yr cap hit would be hideous, Rolstonesque if you would.

Buyouts aren't possible with 35+ contracts right?

Cool. People love debating Jones vs Ekblad. I consistently hear Jones is safer, but Ekblad has higher potential. Interesting to see them age.

On a team where Taylor Hall manages 44.4% CF, I'll give him a pass and so should you. Hall is no question a top 30 player, so that gives us an idea of how much team(and role too) affects things in this context.

So what do you think it would cost to pry him as a 1yr rental(ufa)?

Imo, he's an older injury prone Petry. He's still servicable, but his health and age(40 in Sept) makes him a big gamble. Probably pass.

Yeah, he's one of those instances of being a decent relcorsi player in a tough top pair shutdown role.

I was gonna say, where is Seth Jones, than realized this was for last year only. How does Ekblad compare to Jones in this respect when against Jones's last junior year?
