According to the Sports Lodge on AM 830 the angels inked Brian Fuentes to be the closer for the Halos. They signed a two year deal with an option year.

What are your thoughts and comments. Depending on the dollars I believe this is a good signing which will allow Shields to stay in the 8th inning role and Dondo to develop a bit more

i for one will be pretty pissed if the Halos don't improve this team. I sit in the Right field MVP and my seats went up $2.50 per ticket. That is $10 per game for my four seats. I had no problem paying my part for an improved offense of at least Tex and then a hope of another bat. Now that Tex is gone and Reagins implying that there might not be another bat....What am I paying more money for...

As is stands right now the payroll will be lower next year without GA, Garland, Tex and Frankie. We have replaced them with Kendry at First, Shield/Dondo at closer, Rivera in right and a AAA pitcher.

I am feeling a bit ripped off right now...

Please share your thoughts on the increase in price with a diminished product that they will be putting in front of us for 82 home games.

Howie not only cost us with his bat, I would tell you how many guys he LOB, but I cant even count that high...But they say if you suck at the plate, at least save some runs with your defense...Well jackass cost is 5 runs in the last two games, both elimination games... 3 last night and 2 tonight when he didn't turn the routined double play on Ellsbury...

All in all he sucks and is a total liability....did I mention he sucks...

Beyond that shitty squeeze play that everyone and their mother knew we were going to try I hang this series on Kendrick and his inability to do anything...give him a Red Sox jersey!

Alright folks, what a game we played yesterday. Let's face it we gave the chowda heads 4 gift runs, and we still came out on Top with the victory and the privledge to play another game.

The streaks have been broken:

1. 69 Playoff inning without a Homerun has ended

2. Vlad's lack of the extra base hit has ended

3. Howies Sucktitude and the plate came to an end

4. Aybar got a hit

5. We beat Boston finally in the postseason

6. GA finally got a hit again

7. The only thing that didn't end is GMJ still sucks, but if called upon tonight he is going to do something special whether he gets the start or he comes in late in the game. His time is now to step and make something happen

Alright I am sure all of you have superstitions for a big game. What did you do for yesteredays game that makes you superstitous. Did you alter your routine, Wear a special jersey, wear your underwear backwars.

What did you do that you think helped the team win:

I will go first:

1. I made all the beds in my house when I woke up yesterday (my daughters, my son and where the magic takes place...my bed)

2. I put out 5 Rally Monkeys all over the family room, where I watched the game

3. I wore the same red Nike Golf shirt (no Angel logo) and Red Golf Hat (no Angel Logo) that my dog ate half off back in 2002. This is the exact clothers I wore throughout the 2002 playoffs.

4. Took my dog on walk in the same route as I did before game 3

Alright there is no secret that Vladdy has been terrible in the postseason in his career:

13/64 for a .203 BA with 1 Home run and 7 RBI;s (lets not forget 4 of those RBI's came via a grand slam vs the Bo Sox). His other 12 hits have all been singles.

After his baserunning gaffe and his postseason history, I believe Vlad is going to turn the corner and become a Postseason legend for us. I believe he is now going to say "Fuck You Jobu, I do this myself" via Pedro Serrano...

While I am on the calling my shot trip, I believe Howie is going to have a huge game tomorrow night.....

I have been depressed like the rest of you since leaving the stadium last night, but I am still feeling good things and am sticking with my prediction of Angels in 4...

Alright so the word is Myspacecobar will be starting for the Quakes on monday night. I just got my tickets and the tickets were flying off the screen. Is anyone else planning on going? I was going to make it a point to go to a quake game this year as I have been in the past and really had a great time. The last time I was there, I saw AK rehabbing and Howie hit two bombs that day.... I figure this is a great time to check out the Quakes and Bourjous, Conger and Escobar all in one night

So who is going and does anyone want to get together for a tailgate. I got seats in the 5th row behind home plate to get a good view of Escobar....$28 for two tickets is a hell of  a deal, I am taking my 6 year old

Well like a lot of you, I am sick and tired of seeing these two come up with runners in scoring position and absolutely suck and not ever produce.

S-Rod in his stay in Anaheim is batting .140 (8 for 57) w/ 1 RBI and 22 K's. Not to mention the other night, when it was obvious he cant hit major league pitching, scosh asks him to sacrafice and the guy cant even get a bunt down. This is a middle infielder that cant bunt, in our system...Come on!

B Wood who is another one that is fricking killing us this year he is  batting .122 ( 5 for 41) with 14 K's. Not to mention B Woods stellar numbers from last year 5 for 33 (.152) with 12 K's....26 strikeouts in 74 at bats....Dont forget his total of 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's....Can you say SUPER PROSPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sick and tired of writing these guys off as rookies and small sample sizes etc etc etc. At some point you have got to hit, to stay around. It is pathetic, when watching the games you say oh shit wood and rodriguez are up, these two will be two out in 6 pitches....

Our depth is challenged, this I know....but the kids need to hit if they want to stick around. They have not made it hard for management to make a decision when HK and Figgy are healthy......the only decision the Halos have to make is to give them an aisle or window seat on the way back to SLC....Shit in my opinion each one should get a middle seat to remind them how much they sucked donkey Balls....

Well the bad news is in on the small sample size of B wood in the Mexico winter league...According to the Oc Register this AM,  After nine games he hit .152 with no extra base hits. He came home to attend his Grandmas funeral and when he returned to his team they released him....

Not the stellar winter league we expected from him, not neven a chance for him to work on the curve balls and off speed pitched he wanted to.... it was so bad they sent him home....

Alright folks help me understand what I am missing...

70% of the people here would not trade HK whom looks to be solid, but has only 1 year under his belt and some hand injuries. A super sub in Izzturis whom we have so much up the middle talent we dont know what to do with and a AA prospect with a history of arm problems (whom might I add, we took a gamble on and got him on the cheap due to him coming off a surgery) for probably the best hitter under the age of 25 in the game.

Sure this is a risk, but any trade is a risk and the reward of getting a third baseman that can hit for power is huge...We loose one starter at 2b (plug figgy into 2b) a utility player and a prospect.....

What are you guys willing to give up to get one of the most offensively productive third baggers in the game?  

Like the rest of you I prefer not to give up  Howie, but for the right player we should pull the trigger....Please help me in understanding the thought process....

Moved From The Diaries

Well as all of you know Bart is most likely done for the year and done as an Angel.

I wanted to give him a sincere fairwell and wish him the best of luck. He was a great Angel when he was healthy. His first two years he compiled a 39-20 record with 4.24 ERA and collected a CY Young Award. Then age and health caught up with good ol Bart and went 7-11 with a 5.91 ERA over the next two years.

Bart thanks for the good two years when you were the Ace of the staff and the guy that gave us an excellent chance to win every 5th day. You were a horse...

As all good/true Angel fans we should all wish him the best!

So as I was driving to Lake Mead on Thursday night it got me wondering why in the hell the signal on AM 710 is so bad at night. I don't recall ever seeing a thread about this on this BLOG. This is and has been for years the worst radio station ever for night games...Obviously they save money by turning the signal way down, but I cant figure out why Arte allows  the only station that carries the Angels to have such shitty coverage.

The nights I listen to the game and post game shows on the radio it seems that I have to contened with the latin music interference opposed to enjoying my favorite team on the radio... What are your thoughts on the shitty coverage and does anyone know of any solutions that the team is looking at? Also when is the broadcast contract up with ESPN radio?

On a side note....Have we made a trade or gotten anything for Hillenpoop? When is the window up?

I thought I would share with all of you the great day I had out at ST today. Pops, myself and my 5 yr old son arrive  in Phoenix at 10:45, by 11:30 we are at the ballpark rail side by the Angel dugout. My kid gets GMJ, OC, Evans, Dino Ebel and Steve Shell's autograph on his hat. He is totally pumped as he has never gotten so many autos in such a short time...  

To the seats for the game and to meet rbrianc, turns out our seats are insane first row behind the Halo dugout. Even better rbrianc is a great person and I enjoyed talking halo baseball with him for 5+ innings. Our seats are right where the players have to go in and out of the dugout. In the first inning as Kotch is heading into the dugout after the third out, he tosses the my lil one a ball. My son was stoked and now had his first ball of the day...He also got his second ball of the day, when somone else threw him a ball in the 7th inning. Needless to say it was a good game, wasn't thrilled to see Vlad get stretched to a triple, but all in all a lot of action. Also got to see Shields, and Frankie bitch and Howie and Vlad got some hits.

After the game we hopped in the car and sat in 1.5 hours worth of traffic to Surprise for the Royals vs Halos. First off this ballpark was awesome and was extremely well manicured. We get there a bit early and Alfredo recognizes my kid from earlier and says Hi and signs his ball, then Grich and molina come over says hi to the kid and sign his ball as well. He also got Scoch to sign his hat. Not bad for a split squad!

I was really looking forward to seeing the prospects in this game. Starters inluded Adenhart(great outing) , Mathis, Aybar, Izzy, Morales, Q, Willits, murph and Gourn. In case you have never been to a ST game, the coaches sit in 4 chairs on the field behind the on deck circle. We had the three seats directly behind the coaches. The only thing separating me from Scoch, Butch and Roenicke was a screen. We heard them on everything from game strategy, player assessment, encouragement and arguing balls and strikes. Scoch was even interacting with me and the kid during the game. At one point, Scoch called over Aybar for a 2 minute conversation in spanish (had no clue what they were talking about, but I think it was something about base running as Aybar made a running mistake a few minutes earlier). I was so pissed when Scosh got ejected, that meant I was no longer going to have Scosh to listen to the rest of the game. To me this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear him for 4+ innings. I couldn't believe this rookie ump threw him out of the game for nothing.

After that Alfredo threw the kid another ball (3 for the day), we watched the rest of the game sitting behind Butch, Roenicke calling the shots, Hatcher and Alfredo.

What a fucking day, who could ask for anything more. Oh and they won both games!

I'm catching both split squad games tomorrow (At tempe and Surprise), and am going to both games at Tempe Diable on Sat and Sun

***I also have one extra ticket for tomorrows game at Tempe...First row behind the Angels dugout.

Does anyone have any last minute tips on the Angels practice schedule and good locations to take it all in:

1. What time does practice start on the surrounding fields?
   
2. Are any of the fields better to see the action etc?
   
3. Where is the best spot to take a 5 year old to get some autographs?
   
4. Is there batting practice inside the stadium before the games?
   
5. Best food in the ballpark?

Alright I hate to do this, but i just bought a sweet Old School(1980's) Angel Batting practice jersey on ebay. I have been looking for a unique jersey like this for a long time.It is made by majestic and has a 1/4 zipper in the front...

This is a must for any long time Angel Fan. The only reason I am giving this jersey up is that it is a bit short on me and my big belly makes this shirt too short...

I bought it for $58 on ebay last week. I am opening it up to the true Halo fans before I relist on ebay...make me an offer...

1. Where is the best spot to sit at Tempe Diablo?
   
2. Where is a nice/reasonable place to stay that is somewhat close to the stadium
   
3. Where is a good place to buy tickets or is ticketmaster the only spot to get em?
