Offensive rebounding and transition defense

Zack Lowe, who is incredible basketball writer, discusses the myth that emphasizing offensive rebounding leads to giving up more transition opportunities, featuring a large dose of Nate McMillan.

Sometimes things happen . . .

and I think about those things. We all like to think of college and other amateur sports in idyllic terms (or maybe I'm just projecting): coaches are ethical and upstanding citizens with their...

Aw man, BC again?

We have a game tonight, wooooooo! Unfortunately the game is against BC who, while inferior, will almost undoubtedly provide a frustrating match-up for NC State. I'm going to ask you to rummage...

More trouble on the hill

Michael McAdoo (the football McAdoo) told the New York Times that he was steered to AFAM studies and that athletes got special treatment. YOU DON'T SAY!?!?!?

A giant walks among us

It looks like the man who brought us the legendary Jim Bridge thread and numerous other photoshop creations only to fade into the ether has decided do make a brief reappearance in our comment section. Welcome back Nonsequitur (hopefully for awhile)!

Grantland preview of NC State

Grantland's college basketball writer Shane Ryan, a Duke grad, has NC State as a top 5 team. Here is his preview.

David Thompson Story on Grantland

I found this story about David Thompson on the Grantland website.

Rivers being Rivers

I ran across this article on speculating that Rivers needs to bring the swagger back so he can start performing like everyone expects him to. As a disappointed Rivers owner in my $ FF league, I agree.

Jeff Goodman Discusses NC State Job

I heard Jeff Goodman (FoxSports) on the Dave Glenn show today.  Jeff (who is an Arizona alum btw) brought up that if Sean Miller manages to somehow take down Duke tonight, that Debbie Yow should...

NCSU academic programs on the chopping block

On pages 6-7 of this report there is a list of undergraduate and graduate programs at NCSU that will undergo further review and are at risk of being eliminated. There are some interesting programs on the list, including some of the CALS programs which you would think would be near and dear to Chancellor Woodson's heart. For the graduate programs, I would think that they could consider cutting almost all Master's programs. Make enrollees apply to the PhD program, but allow an out for a Master's degree for those that decide they don't want to continue with the program (this is how most Engineering graduate programs are run). Does anyone have any thoughts on the criteria they used to identify these programs? It should be noted that administrative cuts and adjustments are listed earlier in the memo.

Triangle Walk MS

I am participating in the Triangle Walk MS event in Raleigh this year. I was diagnosed with MS last year. If you know anyone affected by multiple sclerosis you know that it is an unpredictable disease with no known cause and no cure. If you would like to donate to help fund MS research please click on the link, or better yet join my team and get involved!
