What's Next for UFC 134 Winners?
Saturday night we saw 3 of the greatest Brazilian mixed martial artists of all time come out victorious in the same night on their home turf.
Minotauro Nogueira revived his career with a KO victory over Ultimate Fighter Season 10 runner up and rising prospect Brendan Schaub. Schaub had Big Nog rocked a couple times early in the fight, but it was the youngster that couldn't make it out of the first round as Nogueira sent the fans home happy with a comeback KO.
Shogun Rua, in the co main event, exacted some revenge on the man who ruined his UFC debut, Forrest Griffin. Shogun proved to be significantly faster than the original Ultimate Fighter winner en route to a TKO of his own. This undoubtedly puts Rua "in the mix" in the 205 pound division.
In the main event of the evening, more revenge was possible as reigning 185 pound Champion and pound for pound greatest in the world Anderson Silva defended his title against the last man to defeat him (by DQ) Yushin Okami. Yushin had nothing to offer as he was dominated before being mercifully TKO'd in the 2nd round.
So these results beg the question: What's next for these Brazilian superstars? My ideas...
2009 Playoffs: Red Wings at Blue Jackets Game 4
As we all know, this was the last playoff game for the CBJ. I was at this game, as I am sure many of you were. It was an incredible back and forth battle that ended in an unfortunate way.
MMAmania Lightweight Tournament (Fight #6)
A quick recap before we move on... the second round fights that are set so far:
#1 Frankie Edgar vs #8 Anthony Pettis
#4 Eddie Alvarez vs #5 BJ Penn
The winner of this matchup will face off against our most recent winner, #6 Jose Aldo. Aldo moved on to the quarterfinals with 80% of the vote over former UFC LW Champion Sean Sherk. Personally, I thought it was gonna be closer than that.
MMAmania Lightweight Tournament Fight #5
Sorry for the delay in the progression of this tourney, but here we go with the next installment. So far, in case you forgot or are just joining us, here are the results as of now:
#1 Edgar defeats #16 Siver with 71% of the vote
#8 Pettis defeats #9 Florian with 54% of the vote
#4 Alvarez defeats #13 Aoki with 67% of the vote
#5 Penn defeats #12 Soriropoulos with 82% of the vote
So Edgar vs Pettis and Penn vs Alvarez in the second round... WOW! No upsets so far and some great second round fights as a result.

MMAmania Lightweight Tournament (Match #4)
Well, we here at MMAmania think very highly of Eddie Alvarez. In what I thought would be a very close fight, Eddie took the rematch vs Shinya Aoki with an astounding 67% of the vote. This amazed me considering Aoki won the first fight. Eddie is certainly going to be tough to beat in this tournament, but will see how he does in his second round fight against one of the following men.
MMAmania Lightweight Tournament (Match #3)
In a very close Match #2, Anthony Pettis defeated the former #1 contender Kenny Florian. "Showtime" received 54% of the vote edging out KenFlo. Pettis will move on to fight Frankie Edgar in the quarterfinals. Should be a good one, but there is plenty more first round actioin to sort out before that.
MMAmania Lightweight Tournament (Match #2)
Well, as I excpected, Frankie Edgar has moved on to the second round after defeating Dennis Siver, but it may have been a little closer than you would think. "The Answer" advanced with 71% of the vote, but it was very close for a while before Franie eventually pulled away. Edgar will now face the winner of the following fight:
MMAmania Lightweight Tournament
Alright... I come on this site several times a day, in fact it is my homepage. It seems, as of late, all the talk has been about who is the best lightweight in the world. This is undoubtedly due to the fact that the top 3 Lightweights outside the UFC have fought in the last month and the UFC Lightweight Title is up for grabs in the near future as well.
Obviously we can't figure this out in the cage because Alvarez, Aoki, Melendez, etc are not in the UFC, so no such tournament could ever take place... except on MMAmania.com!!!!!
Ideas for Strikeforce/UFC Merger
We all know how MMA has grown leaps and bounds ever since Forrest and Bonnar put on the show of a lifetime live on SpikeTV several years back. That epic battle opened the flood gates for what is quickly becoming more and more of a mainstream sport. The UFC has purchased several companies to grow their brand and squash competition. Pride FC, WEC, etc fell by the waistside... then came Strikeforce...
Zuffa plans to not renew Fedor's contract

Chael Sonnen said WHAT?!?!
Recently, I have noticed that Sonnen is gaining in popularity and I'm not sure why. Maybe its because a lot of people are mad at Anderson Silva, and Sonnen gets the next shot at him, so they want him to win. Ever since I saw the following video, Sonnen has been my most hated fighter in all of MMA!
MMA Mania's P4P Rankings!!
These were calculated by taking the percentage of the total points possible since not every weight class received the same amount of entries.

Results!! MMAMANIA's Consensus MMA Rankings (LHW - LW)
First of all, this was an extremely interesting little project. I was surprised at how different everyone sees the world of MMA. That is why I love the sport so much though!
Anyway, let's get going...
LHW: Here we had 18 different fighters receive votes, 3 of which received first place votes! Below is the lost with the number is parentheses being the highest and lowest ranking. Those that received points, but fell short of the top 10 were:
Jon Jones... 48 (4 - NR)
Rich Franklin... 26 (7 - NR)
Ryan Bader... 16 (7 - NR)
Chuck Liddell... 9 (6 - NR)
Wanderlei Silva... 9 (3 - NR)
Dan Henderson... 7 (8 - NR)
King Mo Lawal... 5 (7 - NR)
Tito Ortiz... 2 (10 - NR)
Not a bad list... 5 Hall of Famers! But none are in the top 10!!
10. Randy Couture... 51 (6 - NR)
9. Forrest Griffin... 60 (3 - NR)
8. Thiago Silva... 79 (8 - NR)
7. Rogerio Noguiera... 171 (3 - 10)
6. Gegard Mousasi... 185 (2 - 9)
5. Anderson Silva... 193 (1 - NR)
4. Rampage Jackson... 199 (3 - NR)
3. Rashad Evans... 218 (3 - 8)
2. Shogun Rua... 308 (1 - 9)
1. Lyoto Machida... 334 (1 - 2)

Mania's Consensus MMA Rankings (LHW - LW)
Due to popular demand, we will do the rest of the weight classes at once, so we can speed this thing along a little bit, which means not having to wait so long before we do it again to update them (maybe every month or so).
Here we go... we all see Top 10 lists and different rankings all over the internet, even in USA Today. We also always disagree for the most part with said rankings. So, I thought let us maniacs come up with our own consnesus rankings.
In the comment section, put your top 10 in each weight class other than heavyweight and I will add up the totals with the following point system: 1. 10 points, 2. 9 points, 3. 8 points, etc. all the way down to 10. 1 point. Write your top 10 in each weight class below and I will supply the results after a week or so to give everyone sufficient time to participate.
You can use any criteria you want: Who would beat who... compare resumes... anything. Let's get started.

Fantasy Light Heavyweight Tournament Quarterfinal #1
Now we are gonna start getting into some very interesting matchups... first up is the current UFC LHW Champion Lyoto Machida vs the former UFC LHW Champion Forrest Griffin. Neither is really known for finishing their opponents, but both have had great success nonetheless. Machida has recently shown he has knockout power, just ask Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva. Forrest has shown his leg kicks are as lethal as any in MMA, just ask Rampage or Shogun. Both fighters have very underrated ground games as well. So will Machida explode with a flurry of strikes like he did on Rashad and knock Forrest out? Will Forrest be able to kick and knee his way to victory like he did vs Rampage and Shogun did vs Machida (arguably)? Or would someone show an advantage on the ground? You tell me!
