Canes Country JR proves any idiot can draft

Oh boy. Here we are once again in the summer and ol' Paladin is pissed off. Last year the "org" didn't know what they had and thought they knew best. By the end of the year they were proven losers and the young assets I proffesed comprised damn near half the team.

Now we come into a new draft and new opportun ity. A couple years, more likely a few these drafts will prove to be what we have in the pipeline.

What in Gods name is the "org" doing in the meantime? Rod the anchor, Ray the whatever, Sami the invisible and Cole the black hole.

Nothing going on with these obvious issues. Why? They are ingrained with this org. The ol' reap what ya sew. I see 4 spots that need to be opened before any mention of making a contending team. I don't mean Cup contending, I mean division.

There ain't a reason this org can't contend for the division. Not just cause they suck less either. There are so many right things here. Only a few obsticles. The first and foremost being either get the front office on board making a winning roster or can 'em all. Even PK is selling off his 100% control, oh wait did you all miss that? Dude has more money than God, if he needed to water his dead buddies shares it would take a simple signature on a check. Alas, no, that's not the way it's going down, he's selling major interest in the team. AKA, control. So where does that end?. All I see is wishy washy mealy mouth crap. If part of the team is for sale, all of it is, if you believe otherwise you are a cretin as every person has their price and PK just started trolling for bids.. Don't forget that PK and JR have ties to Detroit, a far more succsesful org. If they are willing to take lesser shares in a losing team, what might they think about a lesser share in a winner?

I had hoped that relation may lead to a player, but it looks like this org has no idea, once again, what the heck they are doing.

Fire away with your opinions, but stick to the facts.

1. I got no issue with this draft. It was fair to mid-land. If we had some kick ass GM and owner I expect we copuld have turned that to a pretty good draft. Yet, alas, we got only what our tickets allowed and should be thanbkful we got what we did, as we had no, zero, nada control over it.

2. Once again this offseason there are serious issues with the players signed. My choices for dingleberrys are Rod, Ray, Cole and prolly Sami.

3. The actual set up. We have a glut of guys more than worthy of a try out. Last year the tools had no try our and gave us a record losing streak. Now we are faced with some lost opportunity in lines and just too damn many playerds and too few spots.

4.I don't buy this distraction BS. The org ain't done squat since they let the kids play and all I see is they want to squelch that. I don't see them learning shit from past mistakes. If you think any of these draft pukes are good, what about the last batch......that are still in limbo, yet gave the onbly victory's last year?

I wiull give up one thing. Last year, I saw this coming and had no way around it. This year, i see the same potential for good. I just see no takers. There is so much potential, but abolute zero effort.

You all hate me now? Bite me. I have been a Detroit fran since I was a chemical mix. I know all about losing and sucking and being lower than whale shit. I have also watched the Wings, Pens and Yotes and "Hawks come back to life.

I love hockey, it's as close to a religion as I will ever get. I will never be for a team around here other than the 'Canes. I just don't believe they are being served well.

I'd post a poll, but you all don't see to care otr get it. There is only one religion in hockey. It's the Cup. There is only one reason why they play the game. It's for the Cup. There is only one reason to love the sport......yea, bull shit. Hockey rules. There is no other sport.

I ask all of you, agree or disagree, we should all demand more from our t

Canes Country Oh good, 10 more years of Backstrom

The Craps just signed a 10yr extension with the kid. That means we get his ugly mug for 10 more years. While I think signing the kid was a good idea, I can't help but notice there have been some frickin' awful long term contracts being signed in the last several years.

One can hardly deny any team respect that signs a Crosby or Ovechkin. What happens if they get hurt, is that a Primeua syndrom? Was Luongo the poster child for that not being such a wise idea? 1 yr. in the NHL is tough to gauge and survive healthy. 10 yrs is a leap of faith. Is there some wiggle room under the CBA for long term signings? The trend and the CBA seem to coinside.

I do think the schedule and this trend will set up some serious rivalry's i9n the non traditional markets and introduce some prickly one to the traditional markets. The love/hate thing with Detroit is a good example.

So what do you all think? Is the long term signings a new seperate trend, is the CBA involved, is it good for hockey in general?

Canes Country A Pavlovian poll

So here I/we sit broken hearted,

our favorite team was early departed,

second best is the best we can attain

with the surviving teams that remain

A true favorite is not in the bunch

Got some I'd like to see crunched

So a question I do pose

Not a lily nor a rose

Summer NHL is coming to a close...

OK kids here it is, I pretty much detest every team left, yet feel compelled to watch. I watch with the usual feelings, but find myself restrained, or unable to be "for" a team. So since time is drawing to a close and there ain't squat going on, I figured I'd see what you all were thinking.

Canes Country What ya'll think about Rod?

Ain't secret he bunches up my BVD's. When you take into account he was the sole owner of being the second worst player in the league last year at a stellar -23. Then not to be out done he ties for second worst in the league with an improved score of -29 this year. While my charecter flaws are vast, varied and rather apparent, I really don't get all the fan hoopla over this guy.

I think Benedict Arnold is a very good comparative. Arnold was by far (like all alone) the greatest American hero of his time. If you don't know, look it up, it's an awsome read. Then one day, Arnold makes a poor choice and his fate is sealed.

Rod has crossed that line with me. He obviously has nothing left to give on the ice. Look at the +/-, it's sad but true. He lost the C. Whether it was his choice or not, he is falling off everything that he was. His on ice performance is crap and in all honesty is the biggest waste of 3 mill. in the NHL. At maybe 8 min. a night that some pretty pricey garbage play.

So like Arnold, what the hero did is thrown out the window when he focuses on himself. It ain't about the 'Canes anymore, it's about Rod. To me it's all bad and all wrong. Rod has turned from a hero warrior to a selfish old man. When does it get to the point that he sells out the chance of winning for a chance at Rod playing? All Arnold did was try and sell the blue prints to a place. My opinion anyway.

So fire away at my opinion, post your own. I'm gonna try to post a poll. Don't get your hopes up, never done it before.

Canes Country Well you non showin' sloths, how 'bout a tailgate?

Been trying to get a showing of CC folk for some tailgate action. Even bought booze last go around. I've hooked up with a few so far, but there is lot's more I'd like to meet. Come on! Let's show up for one of the last shots at doing some BBQ action and get to match some faces with names. I don't care where we set up. I will almost assuredly be first. Let's poick a time/place and commit to hanging out, pressin' some palms and breaking some bread, maybe even tip[ a few.

Who's in?

Canes Country CC Tailgate for the craps game?

OK gang! One more try. This time with more than 3 hrs before the game even! Anybody got any interest in a CC gathering with libations and grub? God willing I will be down early as usual and looking for people to drown my sorrows with. Clothes are optional (and over rated). Post up if you have any interest and/or suggestions on where. No ao is cause for celebration no matter what. Can't wait to see who get's sent back down or benched.

Canes Country CC tailgate for the Phoenix game?

Anybody up for it or already got it going on? Now I shall ramble so I can get to the 75 word minmum. Weather is great so time for CC tailgate. Beer wine and liquor, we shall pass the time quicker. Whatever happened to the cow that jumped over the moon? Ireckon this ain't even the right place for starting a tailgate request, but didn't know of a better spot. No game day preview yet and I'm gonna leave the house here soon so won't be able to check until I get down to Raleigh. Hmmm wonder if that's 75 yet...
