I'm a thirty-something father, husband, and K-State fan (in that order). I have a limited knowledge of information that most people would find useful, however, I have an inordinate amount of useless trivia and sports-related factoids at my disposal, and I love to write stories that make people laugh (which is ultimately what lead me here).

My role at "Bring on the Cats" is to provide levity, satire, and hopefully a few laughs here and there. I am no journalist, nor do I pretend or care to be. I leave that to much more capable bloggers than myself.

Also, from time to time, I like to challenge the status quo and common thinking because at Kansas State, we love the status quo and group think. Love it.

Conference Realignment: I Call My Shot

BOTC takes it's stab at conference realignment

Sources said members of the Legislature are or will be reaching out to Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin to tell him the Aggies may no longer have the blessing of lawmakers to leave the Big 12, especially if it looks like the Big 12 will collapse. According to sources close to Texas A&M, there is expected to be more movement involving the Aggies and the Southeastern Conference Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Sources say statewide office holders such as lieutenant governor David Dewhurst and Texas House Speaker Joe Straus haven't been active on realignment up to this point but now are getting involved. A source in the Big 12 says there is also an increasing likelihood of litigation against the Southeastern Conference as well as the Pac-12 if the Big 12 comes apart. In other words, it's about to get messy.

So sayeth the infamous Chip Brown.

"First of all, I'll tell you that it has always been a priority of the Board, and I think KU and K-State, for them to be together," Tompkins said. "So, the feeling that they had before, that hasn't changed from the Board's standpoint. Holy Mother of God: Big 12 TV Deal

"The 13-to-15-year deal is expected to approach $90 million annually. It would be worth more than $1 billion in total. ESPN/ABC still hold primary basketball and football rights through 2015-16. " "The new number is expected to a be 350 percent increase in the current rights fees paid by Fox despite the loss of Nebraska and Colorado." People, this is just for second tier rights. I can't believe how awesome this is. Thank you Colorado and Nebraska!

Lincoln, NE QB Commits to KSU

Yeah, it's early, but hey, when the first commitment of the year is a quarterback, it's probably something worth putting on the front page.

KSU/KU Statistical Breakdown

2

According to the statistical breakdown provided by the good folks at Kstateupdate.com (a site that I have bookmarked, BTW), KSU had the game locked up with 4:02 to play in the second half. Yeah, Frank showed a lot of class by not running Juevol Myles and Alex Potuzak out there for four minutes just to rub it in. I'm proud to be a K-State fan, but not because of the win. I'm proud because they showed class in defeating an over-matched foe.

ATTENTION: Matt Tait (LJW) Says Turner Gill Won't Explore Other Jobs

15

Matt Tait, who I assume is on loan from Lawrence Free State High School, outlines why Turner Gill won't leave KU for greener pastures this off-season. I could have probably said, "Took worst team in Big 12 and made them even worse," but that probably wasn't enough to go to press, so it would appear that he copied these talking points from The Phog.net.
