Chuck Hayes has been cleared to play after the Kings voided his four-year, $21 million contract because of concerns about his heart, according to his agents.

The Sacramento Bee reported on Thursday that Hayes had been diagnosed with Pericarditis, inflammation of the sac that surrounds the heart. But Hayes sought further testing at the renowned Cleveland Clinic and underwent "a full day of exhaustive testing and exams" on Wednesday, according to a statement released by BDA Sports.

On Thursday morning, a group of specialists headed by Dr. Steven E. Nissen determined that Hayes "does not have a heart problem."

"Their recommendation is that he can continue to play professional basketball without any concerns," the statement read.

"I have to see what teams are interested still. It’s back to the drawing board, block one, lets go on this merry-go-round," said Hayes to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

He'd probably be too expensive for us though...

Kris Humphries has agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets, worth between $7 million and $8 million.

Humphries envisioned getting $10 million annually on a long-term contract, but that market clearly wasn’t available.

The Nets have been reluctant to offer multi-year deals because of their pursuit of Dwight Howard.

The NBA and players have reached an agreement on a deal, source says. The season will start on Dec. 25.

Flynn sucks and Me-asley is a headcase and chucker, so I'm glad that didn't go through, if the rumor is true.

League sources said the Warriors have inquired about big men Chris Kaman, Nene, LaMarcus Aldridge and JaVale McGee, but they have come up empty.

Lin-Watch 2010 is over. Rawrgh. I really, really wanted this kid on our team. At least he didn't go to the Fakers... :/

Jeremy Lin: 18 mins, 12 pts (5-8 FG, 0-0 3PT, 2-4 FT), 2 asts, 2 rbds, 5 TOs, 1 stl, 1 blk

Looked good overall, especially looked good at splitting the pick and roll trap, at making the right (and even spectacular) pass, and played surprisingly good on the ball defense. I think this kid has a shot to get himself a contract.

Lin-watch 2010. I really wanted the Clips to pick up this kid, but looks like with Warren, Bledsoe, and Foye (yuck), this won't be possible.

ESPN.com sources: Miami has agree to a trade with Minnesota that will send Michael Beasley to the Wolves. Link forthcoming

Ugh, I'd almost rather have this headcase than Gomes and Foye.

Al-Farouq Aminu reportedly canceled his workout in Detroit. He much prefers going to the Clippers. Has a promise from them. Pencil him in.

Eh... at least it's not Hayward...

Harvard's Jeremy Lin Highlights (via HarvardAthletics)

Time to promote who I want as our 2nd rounder. I like what I see.

"Evan Turner has the highest PER, which comes as no surprising considering all the things that he does well. Aubrey Coleman and Jeremy Lin were highly productive scorers, and it’s interesting how Lin’s defensive ability and offensive efficiency allows him to keep pace with Coleman’s incredible scoring ability. Dominique Jones and Manny Harris round out the top-5 as two of the more prolific offensive players in our rankings. "

Going by this analysis, Jeremy Lin looks to be a pretty good prospect. I'd love to take him with our 54th pick.

... yeah.

Edit: Since they edited their link...

KING: OK. Now there's not a good team, though, where offers continue -- where the speculation is.

How about the Clippers, which would put you in the same city as Kobe, in the same arena as Kobe, with a team with some nice young players?

JAMES: With some really good players. And I think everyone in Clipperland is looking forward to Blade Griffin coming back...

KING: Right.

JAMES: -- and being healthy. I mean, Chris Kaman, they've got some really good players, Baron Davis. Some really nice, solid pieces that, you know, if they add a free agent here or a free agent there, it could be a really good team.

KING: And if one of these free agents was you and one was Bosh, would L.A. appeal to you?

JAMES: It's a great city. It's a great city. But at the same time, like I said, it's not always about the city. It's about winning. And I mean if you put me and Bosh on the same team, if you put me and Dwayne Wade on the same team or a lot of these -- me and Joe Johnson or -- or a lot of these guys, a lot of teams would be much better. You know, the Cavs would be much better. You know, all (INAUDIBLE)...

KING: (INAUDIBLE) your own team?

SOFOKLIS SCHORTSIANITIS SHOW @ GREEK ALL STAR GAME 2010

about 2 years ago Tiny PaperClip 12 comments

Olympiacos Piareus big man Sofoklis Schortsanitis was the clear star and MVP of the 18th Greek League all-star game after recording 42 points on near-perfect shooting to lead Team Greece to an impressive 147-114 victory over the Rest of the World in Heraklion, Crete. Both the winners and Schortsanitis set records for the most points scored in the history of the event. Schortsanitis bagged 42 points on 16-for-16 two-point shooting, 3-of-5 three-point shooting and 1 of 2 free throws to earn the MVP trophy.

Clips Nation EuroBasket Semi-Final: Greece vs. Spain

I guess Steve isn't around to make an open thread, so I hope this paltry one will suffice for now, unless Steve miraculously shows while I'm writing this up. It's being aired on ESPN 360 and in various other locales on the interwebs and has just got underway. Is anyone watching? Personally for me, I'm only watching it to see Big Sofo in action. And I'm typing inanely just to reach the 75 word count.

"When you think of 3-point specialists, Jason Kapono and Kyle Korver are among the first pure shooters to come to mind. But even those two attempted more two-point shots than treys last season. Novak, on the other hand, plays like there's a communicable disease near the rim. Despite standing 6-foot-10, the Clippers' backup forward launched 286 shots from behind the arc last season, compared to 110 from two-point range. (That 2.6-1 ratio was the highest in the league.) He made 41.6 percent of them, well above the league average, which is good because Novak sure didn't rebound (1.8 rpg), pass (0.6 apg) or defend well enough to hold a roster spot."
