Not would I would have done but with his deep ties to Feaster he was always the likely choice. Welcome aboard Bob, may your tenure be filled with success.

For AHL Defenseman Brian Connelly...

... I'm not displeased. I thought resigning BMo was a mistake getting a youngish D-man who has had success at the AHL level seems like a fair return.

Most interesting bit is that they (as expected I would think) have him working out at Third Base.

Breaking Now. Jay Feaster has been appointed Acting General Manager and will assume full and complete responsibilities for day to day hockey operations.

I really hope that Feaster isn't the long-term solution. While I'm happy to see Daz gone Feaster is no less yesterdays man then Darryl was. So I hope he being acting GM is just a short-term deal while they begin the search and interview process.

No dollar terms yet.

Edit: Lebrun says 4.02M/5 Years

I'm gonna be honest, I would have hoped for a bit more value given the length of the term.

Like the title says. Nice to get a player in the last round of the draft that you deem worthy of a professional contract.

The Flames have agreed to terms with overage centre Bryan Cameron, of the Barrie Colts. Cameron, 21, led the Ontario Hockey League in goals this season with 53. The five-foot-10, 175-pounder also chipped in 25 assists for 78 points in 62 games.

This is the kind of move I really like. At worst you have organizational depth for the farm team and at best you find yourself a diamond in the rough ala Giordano. If he makes it he'll have a long road to the NHL to be sure but it's a low risk move for now.

Matchsticks and Gasoline Flames Recall Brett Sutter

As Per the Calgary Flames Official Site. Gee, sure would have been nice to have not traded Dustin Boyd for magic beans or lost Jaime Lundmark on waivers... guess it was more important to pay McG to eat popcorn. I'm mostly annoyed that D. Sutter is probably patting himself on the back for keeping Backlund up and saving himself a recall.

That being said if I were to pick one Sutter to survive a hypothetical Sutter purge it'd be Brett.

Press Release after The Jump.

Interesting piece on NHL.com (Well... interesting to me since I don't follow NCAA hockey). Far be it for me to recommend copying Brian Burke but considering the lack of Top 60 picks the Flames have over the next few yeas (and overall weakness in the prospect pool at forward) I think Sutter would be a fool to not try and Woo guys like these ala Bozak and Hanson.

Hope Curtis isn't gone too long. I really like what he brings on the PK and how much he improves the lower half of the forward roster.

Backlund in for Conroy, Conroy down to the 4th would be my guess on the immediate impact to the line-up but my thoughts and Sutter thoughts don't synch very often so we'll see.

Clearly more injuries is the secret to their success...?

Heard on CP he was called up to the big squad. Better hope the plaque/trophy doesn't get broken in the mail.

Since Kent is being uncharacteristically non-toot-my-own-hornish I guess I'll be the one to throw up his article at HF.

So sayith Bob McKenzie. Also up on waivers Cheechoo (That's a hefty AHL price tag) and May.

As per Boomer.

Beats playing Sjostrom in a scoring role I guess.
