DHB has a change of heart....I mean number
To #85. Doug Gabriel Respresent!
Wow. Not really breaking News Huh? Personally this amuses me. Why? For some reason I can't help but feel that Al made(forced) him do it. I can just picture the old man asking him to relinquish the glorious #12 for the Silver & Black. After all, this was the same number donned by the great Kenny Stabler, followed by Rich Gannon. I'll admit that I was absolutely pissed when he chose to rock #12 last year. I hate WR's with QB numbers!! Anyway just thought it would be funny to get some responses on this. Let the jokes begin !!!
With the #8 pick the Oakland Raiders select ..........??
Jimmy Clausen ???

Seems like a headscratcher doesn't it? Maybe not so much. Forget the fact that I am a Notre Dame homer. Forget all about what you think you know about Clausen already. Here is the real deal. Like most of you we are completely oblivious as to what is really brewing in the mind of the evil genious Mr Davis. This is a man who loves to base his decisions on deception. With all of the McNabb hooplah is it possible that we could be sending an even deeper message? Consider the facts. It is obvious that this team has a desire to move past Russell in the Quarterback position. The Browns have said bye bye to Quinn who was also a mega dissappointment coming out of the same draft as fatboy. As much as it makes sense to draft a lineman here, Tackle to be specific, we just know that it is not an Al type move. He has gotten lineman before obviously, but I think it is a move he is hesistant to make. Its just not sexy enough for him.
Now lets look at the potential target. Here is Jimmy Clausen. The 2nd best talent, but most developed and pro-ready style QB. If somehow this position is the answer to all of our problems is it not wiser to go after Clausen rather than McNabb. Keep in mind that McNabb will be a huge risk that might stick around for say two yrs or maybe less. Look what the Jets did with Sanchez. To me he kinds sucks, but they had a decent coach, great defense and RAN THE BALL. This made it easy for Sanchize to manage the game. Clausens record at ND might not impress anyone, but with that teams poorous defense and NO running attack whatsoever who do you think helped put up their almost 30 point average a game? He also has an advantage on not ever being on a winning team. Consider the drive and desire to win he will have in the NFL. Golden Tate has already vouched for his leadership ability and we all know that Todd McShay has about as much credibilty as O.J. To Clausens credit, whether you like him or not. The guy can really take a beating.
Bruins extend Ference through 2014
This is mighty fine copy and paste job I did all by myself. Maybe he( Ference ) is injury plagued, and maybe his stats don't show it, but I feel the defense is better when this guy is on the ice. Here is the article. Go B's.
BOSTON (AP)—The Boston Bruins have signed defenseman Andrew Ference(notes) to a $6.75-million, three-year contract extension that would run through the 2013-14 season.
The 31-year-old Ference has 24 goals and 117 assists and 141 points in 10 NHL seasons. He has eight assists this season, his fourth with the Bruins.
The Bruins picked up Ference from Calgary in February 2007 along with Chuck Kobasew(notes) in a trade from Brad Stuart(notes), Wayne Primeau(notes) and a fourth-round draft pick.
Ference has also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Russell skips out on voluntary workouts
