Hey Apers. We are having a contest over at AA to decide on a nickname for Charles and the Charles/Jones tandem. My cheap plug aside, I posted this video over there to create a mood for the final vote and I thought a lot of you guys over here would get a kick out of it. Enjoy.
Arrowhead Pride's "Put Up or Shut Up" 2009 Predictions Review
Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
Hi Ap'ers
Just wanted to drop by, say hi and conclude some unfinished business. You may remember all year we had group of guys bringing you weekly AP Power Rankings. along with that, just before the season, the same group of folks made their 2009 NFL predictions. We affectionitly dubbed these predictions Arrowhead Pride's "Put Up or Shut Up" 2009 Predictions.
Well, we put up and now it is time to shut up. (For most of us anyway)
I was historically bad in my predictions, picking the Titans to win the Super Bowl and Kerry Collins to be the MVP. Some folks, however, did much better. The time for ridicule and congratulations is here.Take a look and see how we did!
Enjoy!

Week 15 AP Power Rankings
Welcome to week 15 of our AP Power Rankings. This will be my last week handling the bulk of this project as I will be passing it off to one of our other panelists to see it through to the end. It's been a pleasure to bring you these each week.I want to thank all the Rankers for all their help throughout the year!
The Saints were able to keep their strangle hold on the top spot with the Colts right behind them. I don't know how you really decide between these two teams. Both are playing fantastic football and are a mere 3 victories away from making NFL history. If that happens they will forever be linked. Yes, the odds are still long but can you imagine a Super Bowl with the 18-0 Colts and the 18-0 Saints? Two prolific offenses and two of the games best QB's? Talk about drama...but we get ahead of ourselves.
There are a couple of other teams that may have a thing or two to say about a Saints vs. Colts Super Bowl and they would be the Minnesota Vikings and the San Diego Chargers. They are numbers 3 and 4 in our rankings and are both playing great football. Rounding out the top 5 is a scrappy Bengals squad who will be playing with a heavy heart this Sunday following the death of wide receiver Chris Henry who passed away this morning. The Bengals will face a red hot Charger team in a game with big time seeding implications.
The Chiefs sit at a lowly 28 in the rankings and hope to jump up a slot or two with a convincing win over the Browns this Sunday at Arrowhead.
Go Chiefs and on to the Ranks.
Thank You AP!
Hey Arrowhead Priders,
I just wanted to write to everyone at AP to say thank you. I stumbled upon Arrowhead Pride last December and I officially joined on February 27th. 136 Fan Posts and 4721 comments later I have been offered the Lead Blogger position over at Arrowhead Addict and I have accepted.
I just wanted to throw up a quick post thanking you all for reading my stuff and encouraging me to keep writing. Many of the posters here have said a lot of nice things about my writing and it was those comments that encouraged me to keep at it. It was because of AP that I had a number of different articles to choose from when selecting samples to apply with over at AA.
I have also been influenced by the incredible work of all the bloggers here and I have certainly learned a lot from you all. It is a little bittersweet for me, as my new responsibility to Arrowhead Addict will most certainly limit my activity on Arrowhead Pride. AP is one of the best Chiefs sites on the planet, along with Arrowhead Addict (hey, I’m a company man now). I hope you all will stop over to AA to check out the changes that will be happening in the coming months and to check out my work.
I’d also like to extend a special thank you to Chris and Joel who have really been great friends and who have set a great example of how an excellent, professional blog should be managed.
Cheers and Go Chiefs!
Paddy

Well here we are. Another Monday morning. Another Chiefs loss. Mondays are usually pretty slow for news. This is the time to reflect on what we saw and what, if anything the Chiefs can hang their hard hat on. Cue the Cassel and Haley doubters. The Pendergast lynch mob. The Koolaid salesman will start setting up shop. The Silver Miners start looking for lining. And at least a couple of Scouts are preparing mock drafts. Yes, the inhabitants of the Chiefs Kingdom are getting restless in the spin cycle that is yet another losing season. The jesters are running out of balls to juggle.

Here are your rankings. I had an intro all written out but the file somehow got corrupted and I am grumpy and don't feel like doing it over.
Sorry about that!
Chief Upgrades; A Scouting Report
As many of you know I fancy myself something of a football scout. Given the many problems the Chiefs have had on offense and defense this year I have been scouring the country trying to find upgrades at certain positions. It hasn't been easy but I have found a few candidates. Below I will list the players name and some info about him/her and the current Chiefs player they will be replacing. Most of these players should come pretty cheap for Pioli and as the Chiefs have a ton of cap space I see no reason why the team can't at least bring in half of these players.
These moves should greatly improve next years roster.

As Far As They Can Go
via blog.northstarmanifesto.com
We were excited. I don't lame us. Things had been going south for a while and change, any change, was welcomed like as big bucket of money. The Chiefs were bringing in Super Bowl pedigree in Scott Pioli. They brought in more with Todd Haley. The Chiefs were going to turn into Patriots West, Matt Cassel was going to be a combination of Tom Brady, Kurt Warner and Trent Green. Dwayne Bowe would morph into a combination of Boldin and Fitgerald. The Broncos were sinking fast, the Chargers were getting old and the Raiders were still owned by Al Davis. The Chiefs were on the rise. Life was good and we were blind.

AP Power Rankings Week: DT Week Edition!
I usually do a lengthy write up to introduce the Power Rankings. My being busier at work as really cut into the hours and hours of free time I used to be able to devote to AP so I am going to keep it short and sweet this week.
I despise the Donkey’s more than any of our rivals. I grew up in the late 80’s and 90’s and had to suffer the indignities of the Hellway Era. The day after the Chiefs lost to the Donkey’s 14-10 in the playoffs I didn’t go to school the next day.
God as my witness I will do everything I can to use my brain waves to single handily ensure a Chiefs victory this Sunday. There are some scientists who believe that the power of group thought, some might call it prayer, can actually have a physical impact on the world we live in. I don’t know if I buy this type of talk but for this weekend I am going to try. Thus I am going to ask you all a favor this week. From this moment forward I want you to start believing the Chiefs are going to win this weekend. I went into the Pittsburgh game with absolutely no hope and I am ashamed of it but I am not asking you to hope the Chiefs win. I am asking you to believe the Chiefs will win. Start right now. "Just two days till the Chiefs stomp the Broncos." "The Chiefs WILL win this weekend." Keep all the negatives out of your mind. Don’t think about the past two seasons. Don’t even think about last week’s loss. Think only about how Charles is going to blow into the secondary, how Cassel and Chambers are going to burn Denver’s DB’s. Think about Succupp blasting 50 yard FG’s and Haley calling brilliant, timely plays. Let’s all focus all our energy and all out positive thoughts on OUR Kansas City Chiefs and on Arrowhead Stadium.
This is it. Teams aren’t going to walk on the Chiefs anymore. I’ve had enough, I am willing to bet you’ve had enough and I know damn well the boys in the locker room have had enough.
Scream louder, cheer harder, drink one more beer and for the love of God, BEAT THE DONKEY’S!
AP's Greatest Hits
Hello all. Posting a lot on AP I am constantly shifting through the internet looking for funny or clever pictures to help make my point. Thank God for Google image search right? I'm not the only one who has posted funny content for a laugh. Recently I decided to do a search for images related to Arrowhead Pride. We have posted a lot of ridiculous crap on here over the years so I thought I would share with you some of AP's greatest hits.
Remember, all of these can be found by doing an AP image search on google!
Enjoy!

The Chiefs Offense is Less Offensive
via cdn.picapp.com
I was inspired by the comparison posted this morning about how the Chiefs and the Broncos match up statistically. I believe, despite the blowout loss in Cali that the Chiefs are playing better football with the addition of Chris Chambers and Jamaal Charles and the subtraction of "He Who Must Not Be Named" aka, 2.7.. I decided to look into the Chiefs numbers before and after the BYE and then compare those numbers to the Donkeys over their last 4 games. The results were pretty encouraging.

Blame Haley
You may remember my "Damn Haley" post from earlier in the season. I had much fun with it and decided to do a post about things I'd like to blame Haley for. Hopefully whether you are a full fledged "Haley Homer" or a "Haley Hater" you will be able to enjoy this post.
Thus I present to you....

The Long Road Back
via cdn.picapp.com
I woke up this morning with a hang over not from drinking but from watching Chiefs football. I am discovering that at times it is six of one, half dozen of the other. This Chiefs football hangover, and lets face it, part beer induced hangover, felt a little different than my previous football related ailments from this season. I didn't feel this way after the Eagles game. Certainly not after the Giants game. I felt a little bit like this after the Cowboys game but definitely not this bad. What is going on?
I think what is happening is the Chiefs brand of football is no longer light beer to me but is once again becoming the hard stuff. Ok, the Chief's play isn't quite spirit level yet but it is certainly a higher percentage alcohol content than it has been in previous weeks or even the last couple of seasons. No I haven't felt this bad since the last time the Colts spanked the Chiefs in the playoffs. The last time I had expectations of winning.

Welcome to the Week 12 Edition of the AP Power Rankings; Sunday Edition
Sorry for the ludicrously late rankings this week. The holidays slowed us down a bit but we managed to get the in under the wire...er...three games into the next week. Ah well. Here they are. Enjoy them because they are about to change in a few hours. =)

It was the best move Kansas City made all season. In Chambers, the Chiefs instantly filled their need for a starting receiver. The Chiefs have brought in several veteran wideouts since the offseason. None have worked out -- until Chambers came along.
The No Friends Or Family Losers Thanksgiving Day Football Open Thread
Well it is Thanksgiving and while my girlfriend and I are cooking it up here in our apartment she surly won't be joinging me in all day football viewing. That's where AP comes in. So if you need to get away from the family or out of the kitchen, join us here on the "The No Friends Or Family Losers Thanksgiving Day Football Open Thread." I thought all of these games were going to be terrible but this Lions/Packers brawl has been pretty packed with excitement
So happy Turkey Day everyone. 3 Football games today! Hope to see you all here tonight to root against the Donkeys.
The Defense May Be About To Turn The Corner
via media.kansas.com
I have been doing some thinking and I believe the Chiefs D may be farther along than we think. Due to a little bit of luck and perhaps some smart drafting by Pioli the Chiefs may be ready to trot a respectable, if not above average D onto the field next season. The numbers may not reflect this yet but there have been some tell tale signs recently, especially in the Steeler game have brought me to this conclusion. Allow me to explain.

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall says he's not sorry for berating Knowshon Moreno after the rookie running back fumbled at the goal line during the Broncos' 32-3 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
Moreno finally gave Marshall a two-handed shove to get away.
AP Power Rankings Week 11; You Could Make It At Receiver For The Chiefs Edition
Welcome to week 11 of our AP NFL Power Rankings. Can it be week 11 already? There has certainly been no shortage of drama in Chiefs Nation the last couple of weeks with the jettisoning of Larry Johnson and suspension of Dwayne Bowe for using a diuretic during the preseason. If things weren’t bad enough the defending NFL Champion Pittsburgh Steelers are coming to town this Sunday. What a way to celebrate a win, eh? Seriously. You have to think that if any of us went to Arrowhead and asked for a tryout at WR they would have to at least give us a look, wouldn't they? Heck, I look more like a receiver than Lance Long.
There are good teams in the NFL and they sit atop our Power Rankings. The Saints hold on to the top spot though the #2 Colts gained some momentum after their comeback win against the Patriots. The Vikings hold steady at #3 and the Begals got some major street cred when they straight up smacked the Steelers for the second time this season. The once hapless Bungles are now in total control over the AFC North and a win over the Browns later this season will ensure Cinci’s first sweep of the division since…well, ever.
Biggest jump this week was the Cardinals moving up 4 spots from #11 to #7. Epic Fail Award goes to the NY Jets who fell 4 spots from #16 to #20.
Be sure to check out our "Pittsburgh Pirates Division" which features the 10 worst teams in football. Consider it a sort of mini goal for the Chiefs to climb their way our of the Pirates Division by the seasons end. Last week they were ranked #6 in the Pirates division.
Enjoy week 11, try to enjoy the Chiefs game and see you next week.
AP Power Rankings Week 10; Halfway Home Edition
Hello Apers and welcome to Week 10 of our Arrowhead Pride Power Rankings; Halfway Home Edition. In our very first year of doing these weekly rankings we have made it to the halfway point without too much trouble. I just want to quickly thank the guys who make this possible and remind you of just who your panelists are.
Me (AFC North)
J-Man (AFC South)
Bansky (AFC West)
Chiefsfan85 (AFC East)
Craig in Calgary (NFC North)
Mushin (NFC West)
Woodman212 (NFC East)
Generic Brand (NFC South)
Chris (Rankings Czar)
Joel (Rankings Czar)
At the halfway point the Saints have staked their claim as the top dogs in our rankings. The Colts are lingering just behind and one slipup from the Saints and we know who the new #1 will be. The Vikings were a unanimous #3 amongst are rankers and the Pats and Steelers are rounding out the top 5.
Still searching for the respect of our panelists are the Bengals hanging around at #6 despite defeating the defending champs earlier in the year. If they can pull off a win in Pittsburgh this weekend they will be one win over the Browns away from sweeping the AFC North. This is a must win game for both teams.
The biggest leap of the week goes to the San Diego Charges who moved up 4 spots from #16 to #12 with their last second win over the Giants. Speaking of the Giants they share this week’s Epic Fail Award with the Packers and the Donkeys all of whom tumbled 4 slots.
We hope you enjoyed the 1st half of the season. we look forward to hearing about some of your favorite 1st half moments in the comments!
On to the Rankings!
The Bonus Value of Chris Chambers?
Chris Chambers could include potential extra value for the Chiefs. What he can tell the Chiefs coaches about the Chargers aside, Chambers has played many of the Chiefs upcoming opponents already this season. He should be able to give the Chiefs coaching staff a lot of information about how the Chargers offense game planned for certain opponents. He can also tell them what worked well and what didn't and what they saw on the tape following the games.
Listen to this.
Chambers has already played the Raiders TWICE. This Sunday will be his 3rd time.
He has already played the Steelers and will play them again with the Chiefs.
He has already played Denver once and will get 2 more cracks at them as a Chief.
He will get a shot at the team that cut him when the Chiefs go to Cali to play the Chargers.
Of the Chiefs remaining 8 games there are only 3 teams that Chambers has not already played this season or played for. They are the Browns, Bills and Bengals.
It brings up an interesting idea. Do you think the experience Chambers has this year will help the Chiefs?
MNF Open Thread: Donkeys and Steelers
It's Steelers at Broncos tonight AP readers. Can we please see a Broncos' loss tonight? The Chargers are sitting at 5-3 and within striking distance of the Broncos, who are currently 6-1.
Check out the Steelers on SBN at Behind the Steel Curtain.
And you can find the Broncos on SBN at Mile High Report.
Thank you to Patrick Allen for getting this post together. I hope tonight is a fun game to watch. -Chris
Larry's Resume and AP Goodbye
Dear Potential Employer/ Recruiting Manager/ Mr. Davis/ Mr. Snyder,
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to look over my resume and qualifications. I am an accomplished professional in my field and I was recently laid off due to my stupid ass conduct on and off the football field. I am looking to reinvent myself, by which I mean I would like to get paid a butt load of money to potentially assist in destroying your football organization. Mr. Davis and Mr. Snyder, I do not presume to be nearly as adept at ruining a football franchise as yourselves, however I do feel that I bring a remarkable skill set that you and your front office would greatly value.
I am consistently in trouble with the law. This is an excellent opportunity for you to take your troubles on the field and expand them with a lot of off field issues and poor national media coverage of your organization. I am a PR nightmare and would surly lower the public opinion of your football club. Those who still think highly of me I will personally visit and spit a cocktail in their face to ensure their devotion does not last long.
I am not just valuable off the field but on the field as well. I learned early on that by being successful I was helping my team to win so I very quickly began to suck. Before being fired from my last employer I was currently on pace to have the worse season for a starting running back in the history of football. As long as you have an offensive line I promise you I will run straight into the back of them and then promptly fall down. If a hole does open up, not to worry I am a team player. I will be sure to be caught from behind and maybe, if I can manage it, I will cough up the football before I go down. I will also ensure that your QB only lasts a couple of games because I will be sure not to pick up any blockers ones I get paid.
In closing I hope that you can see I will be a great asset to destroying your organization. Please see my enclosed resume.
I look forward to working with you,

AP Power Rankings Week 9: Better Late Than Never Edition
Welcome to Week 9 of your AP Power Rankings. We are a little late in the posting this week due to the fact that my boss demanded I actually do a little work. Sorry for the delay but what better to spice up your Friday afternoon than a subjective, collective opinion of 10 guys you’ve never met about the NFL? We have a lot to talk about this week but first we would like you to read the following;
AP Power Rankings
Winners have girlfriends.

Losers get together in little groups
with folks they met on the internet
and make arbitrary rankings of
professional football teams.
"Fantasy-wise, I need Antonio Gates to step up. I need Philip Rivers to throw the ball to Antonio Gates more. We play two quarterbacks, I have Matt Cassel but I hope he does bad [in Jacksonville Sunday]. I might just play one quarterback."
