Eric Byrnes, now a Softball superstar.
The Legend or Eric Byrnes continues. He went 2-3 last night with two home runs for the Dutch Goose softball team in Menlo Park, CA. Quotes from him and his mother.
And the price for Leroy Hill just went up...
Baltimore Ravens LB Bart Scott just signed with the New York Jets for six years and 48 million dollars, a full 12 million over Leroy's reported 6 year, 36 million dollar offer.
Bart Scott is a full 2 years older than Leroy, was undrafted, and played alongside some great linebackers over the years. Both players are about 6-2, 240 lb linebackers who are heavy on the tackling ability, light on the sacks.
The key difference between the two players is that while Leroy Hill has continually missed games in his shorter career, Bart Scott has been healthy during his tenure with the Ravens.
Still though, with Scott a full two years older than Leroy, the market has been set higher for LBs in the mold of Leroy Hill / Bart Scott. You have to think Leroy's agent is holding out for a much larger contract than the one reportedly offered earlier.
Don't give it to him.
If Ruskell and Leroy can't get a contract done, this severely limits the Seahawks ability to make moves this offseason, with the Franchise Tag eating up so much of the cap.
If that is the case, then you have to question whether tagging Leroy was the right thing to do.
What is everyones thoughts on this?
Free Agent Reggie Williams busted with Pot
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&hl=140307&id=2652
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Reggie Williams, now a free agent, arrested with a DWI and possession .97 grams of Marijuana. He apparently got busted 2 hours after Free Agency started. Yikes.
While Ruskell seems to be fine with Leroy Hill getting busted with Pot, I can't help but think this puts a large dent in Seattle's interest in Williams. Leroy Hill is a known quantity, The coaches know what they get from him, both on and off the field. I would expect Ruskell to now pass on Williams. I haven't read anywhere that he was being scheduled for a visit to the Hawks.
