Knowshon up for Rookie of the Week again!!!!

I think last week, Percy Harvin from the Vikings had a 'better' game, in other words, earned the award a bit more than Knowshon, considering the position differences and total accomplishments for those games... BUT, he's not a Bronco, now is he? And I can't tell you how many times I voted the previous three times he's (Moreno) been up. ( =

If we vote enough, this will be Knowshon's fourth and the most for any rookie this season so far.

From DB.com's blog about it:
"Moreno leads all rookies with 182 rushing attempts and 774 rushing yards. For four straight weeks, Moreno has eclipsed 80 yards rushing. His six games with 80 or more rushing yards ties for second among all NFL rookies since 2000."

This idea was mentioned prior - I personally read somewhere about someone planning one the day of the game, in the parking lot of Mile High (which I didn't think needed to be pointed out is ridiculous). However as you can see, this one is the day before the game and obviously authorized by the appropriate authorities. I still can't see just throwing your physical momento of Bronco memories away in this fashion. To each their own, not too big a deal, but fun for some I'm sure. ( =

Philip Rivers... A Comforting Blurb

Cracked me up a little, even though it didn't really seem like much for a competition. Still enjoyable to trash talk Rivers a little. It will certainly be different, without the rivalry like Jay and he had, and with the creaming they handed us most recently, seems Philip kinda had the last laugh of that chapter of it. Of course, their rivalry will continue for the remainder of at least one of their careers, but won't matter nearly as much to either team/player/team's fans....

Wanted to share that and basically sort of portray an overall outcome/comparison in stats of the rivalry.

Jay obviously had the upper hand in passing yards this season with a total of 4,526 - to Rivers' 4,009, since Rivers has been in the league longer and last season we were pretty pass-heavy, let's take a look at a cumulative total of '07 and '08 stats for some perspective.

And good call NYC - here are some crucial stats that I missed

Those added stats do supplement the evidence that Philip is the lesson giver....

Looking at the numbers that really count, TD's and Int's, Rivers is on top, but we all know how many elements come into play in this sport and this is why stats can belie so much. If I had to pick a QB only having these stats as criteria to select from (obviously excluding names), I might just pick (Jay), especially considering only throwing 145 more attempts, but still completing 92 more passes, this is why I highlighted rushing yards as well, I personally like a QB who CAN produce rushing yards, not necessarily has to, or does. IMHO Jay was always was a little run happy (especially his rookie year, in preseason LOL!!!).....

Also noteworthy, Cutler had 8 fumbles and lost 2 in his rookie season, only playing in five games - Rivers had the exact same number of fumbles and played in 16 games

I like to try and look at performance and of course, point out how "Our guy" was better, but this was more of just pointing it out for a little more Cutler closure, if you will. Like I said, I might just pick the QB with a couple more turnovers, and less TD's if I had a gut feeling, but seeing that we can actually watch players play and gauge their potential more accurately than stats can, with my Broncos bias, I still would have picked Cutler. Now, as far as who came out as the 'top dawg' and removing bias/ looking at it objectively..... What do you all think, did this rivalry end with Cutler being the better performer? I personally have to say that Rivers seems to have had the upper hand, but I also believe that Cutler's last game as a Bronco has a huge part in my feeling that way.

David Letterman's Top Ten: Ways To piss Jay Cutler off

(disclaimer: This is purely intended for entertainment, I do not represent and am not David Letterman, I didn't really know if I should spell his name wrong on purpose to avoid any issue, or use the phrase 'piss off' for that matter... but there I went... And I respect Jay Cutler as a player, and would have loved to have seen what him and Our new coach could have accomplished together)

That being said and assuming that we all have a sense of humor (which is the emphasis for this, in case you aren't familiar with Letterman's top ten) and know a little history of Jay, Dave and recent ongoings.....

David Letterman's Top Ten: Ways To piss Jay Cutler off

10. - Have a referee make a bad call.

9. - Push him into the pool at the Pro-Bowl.

8. - After pushing him into the pool at the Pro-Bowl, have him come into the game, trying to make up for a defecit.

7. - Have him and John Elway actually have a strong-arm competition.

6. - Watch his reaction when he throws an interception.

5. - Throw Bus Cook in jail.

I had thought of number one, debating on what they would hire Mike to do, and what he would realistically be cool with... Then realized, it doesn't really matter, and of all things, how ironic.... Then #2 came to mind, and naturally, # 6 and #10.... But then when I thought of #7 I had to post it. I really bare no ill-will toward Jay just because of the situation, but this certainly seems to show a lot of what my subconcious, presumably, has gone through....

Anyway, I hope I wasn't the only one who got a kick out of it, and was excited to find out that the Bears and the Broncos don't have the same Bye-week, so at least we'll be able to have a game we can all fully enjoy and relate to in some degree during Our Bye.

I will be posting a hypothetical 53 man roster, this week and one thing I keep coming back to is only keeping two QB's, in order to allow another position's depth... Thoughts on that, and of course any cleverness you might amend/ add to the aforementioned list here?

Ran across this on YouTube and thought it was well worth sharing.

It also provoked me to further consider the fact that the Quarterback spot is still a 'competitive' spot on the roster, which was my understanding of what Mr. McDaniels likely told Jay, that EVERY spot will be a competition, EVERY year.... That could very well be part of that whole deal, I'm not goin' there, just pointing out.....

I could not find Part One of the series, but if someone can and posts it in a comment that would be cool.

So, basically I like Kyle and have a bit more confidence in him becoming the starter, but I wanted to start a discussion on what it would be like having a Quarterback by committee type a deal....

In my rating of pros and cons in a scenario like Our team's....

The first ranked pro is - less physical strain on your preferred quarterback, the con comes down to stats... Most people dig stats, I don't really, because I don't have any NFL stats LoL! - but really, I can see how it may be hard for a qb's mindset to be really passionate about sharing the position, not only that but moreso that it messes with the mindset of both qb's as far as - "I just threw an interception and the coach put the other dude in... Last time I threw one he didn't..wtf?".... The other thing I constantly wonder (and I'm sure McD keeps in mind, as well since Chris was originally hired as a backup) is Mr. Simms has no spleen and I'm not sure can take too many particular types of hits.

Just to make clear, I am hoping KO is our starter and actually knowing more about his personality has increased my confidence in him as a good character person, as well (many-a-time, it can decrease it to know more about a person's general speech patterns, whether or not they seem to have any actual opinions of their own, not just regurgitated ones in which they themselves have never actually thought through, behavioral tendencies, etc.). The fact that he is Mother Earth-considerate and a Beatles fan just tips the scales for me!!

I'm sure (as would be the case if we still had that other dude) that our coach sees the benefit of telling your QB's that it will ALWAYS be a competition to get the starting position and I'm still spitballin' here really, just trying to start a cool discussion about the QB by committee, especially considering Our two (three? Brandstater?) current talents. Look forward to the thoughts and discussion. First post, let me know!
