A positive post
I've heard some complaints that my posts have tended to be negative. Certainly, there's some truth to that. So, I decided to try my hand at a more positive post to show I'm not above some constructive criticism.
Admit it...I was right
I don't want to brag or anything BUT...I seem to remember my post on the Mets needing some fire, dare I say, some edge was met with much disdain and ridicule.
Obviously, Omar was listenting to me because, just a few more miserable games after my post, he called out the team for not playing with what exactly? Some "edge" I believe...how interesting! You guys recall him doing that right?
And suddenly, the Mets are on a little bit of a roll. Again...how interesting! 4 straight wins I believe.
So, I'm full of positivity as you can see. The team is playing well. Johan is ridonculous, my man Wright is leaving April behind, and K-Rod is doing what we brought him here to do. And clearly, it's thanks to my timely and spot on post.
OKAY! OKAY! CALM DOWN EVERYONE!
I'm just having some fun. I know it's not just because of my post...

Our team still has NO FIRE!
I apologize for the diatribe...
Guys, I haven't posted in a long, long time to this site. Mostly because it's been hard to get back into caring for our team. Of course I care, but I'm talking about really caring...I've been too crushed the last few years by this team so, I backed off for the sake of not having an anurism because we gagged it up again.
But, inevitably, I always come back. It's the Mets for crying out loud. It's like asking a LiLo to stay away from blow, or asking Keith to shave his moustache...not gonna happen!
Anyway, the point I want to make, why I decided to finally post again, is because I'm very worried about this team. It's 13 games in, but everything just feels exactly the same doesn't it? Sure, the bullpen is vastly improved but, this team still lacks heart, guts, onions, fire, passion, heuvos, cohones, sack, confidence, the will to win at all costs. Do you get what I'm trying to say? NOBODY ON THIS TEAM HAS A BIG FRIGGIN' SET OF BALLS! Nobody is willing to exact their will to win over another team. Nobody holds anyone accountable in the locker room, or is willing to get in anyone's face and DEMAND that they do whatever it takes to win! This is New York for God's sake...we want players with a passion for playing the game!
Case in point...last night's game...8th inning...play at the plate and Beltran doesn't slide. And he has the nerve to say he didn't slide because he was "too close to home" Are you kidding me? How ri-goddamn-diculous is that?!?!?!!
I'm just going to throw a question out there. What do you guys think any of the big 4 players in Philly would have done there? Utley, Howard, Victorino, Rollins. Whatever answer you may have, slide, hook-slide, head-first slide sneaking the arm in, running over the catcher...whatever your answer is...I'm sure there would be something in common with all of them. Those guys would have made the effort...and I'm pretty sure they would've scored.
Do you see the difference? Utley vs. Wright...Howard vs. Delgado...Victorino vs. Beltran...Rollins vs. Reyes. Do you see the difference?
To me gang, I think it's pretty obvious why our team will be the same joke it has been the last few years. And I'm pretty sure I know who's going to take the NL East...the guys who bring the balls to the park every...single...day.
Our Pitching Sucks
I'm of the opinion that, even though we've been playing awful baseball, we'll manage to turn things around and hang on to the division.
Delgado's swing...Mota's deep fried...Green just sucks!
OK...that's it for me boys. After last night's loss to Peavy and the Padres (a game where Brian Lawrence pitched well enough to keep us in the game), I have lost all faith and hope in Mota, and more sadly Delgado. I just threw Green into the subject line because he's been hopless all season...and LoDuca could probably be on this list to but I just like the guy, he's blue-collar.
Is anybody else worried?
WTF is wrong with our beloved Mets this year? Just about every time you think they've had a turning point game, and going to start hitting their stride, they seem to inevitably stub their toe.
How awful is Shawn Green?
As evidenced by his attrocious "attempt" to make a diving catch, Green is just a horrible fielder.
SNY's David Lee
Ok, we are well in to SNY's inagural season and for the most part I have been pretty happy with the channel.
Kazmir keeps "sucking"
This is going to haunt us for his entire career, straight from the Elias Sports Bureau. It's very depressing.
"If you're scared, get a dog." -Willie
After an adventurous weekend series with the Yankees that should have been a sweep, Willie summed things up great.
Sign the damn Zambrano petition!!
I was enjoying the comments left on the game thread after Zambrano's latest debacle. Nothing like watching a guy get 2 outs on six pitches, have the pitcher up, and then proceed to load the bases and give up a granny!
Petition to Trade Victor Zambrano
True to my word, I have created a petition to have Victor traded.
Starting a petition for the MoJo Killer
I am sick and tired of Victor Zambrano, period. I am tired of his "potential", his pitching, his complete lack of confidence, him going 0-2 on a batter with 2 outs and serving up bombs, his 5 inning outings, and his ridiculous ears (Seriously, have you seen those flaps?).
Heilman to the pen, more than meets the eye?
So, I know most Mets fans are somewhat surprised that Heilman was sent to the bullpen, and Bannister was given a rotation spot. But is this Willie's call, or Omar's?
B-Ban or V-Zam?
I have been following Brian Bannister pretty closely over the past few years. And his numbers have been impressive throughout his minor league career, and those numbers are being bested this spring.
SportsNet NY and Cablevision
Has any one heard any news as to the new netwrork being carried by Cablevision.
CLIFF ON THE BLOCK?
There was a great article in the NY Times on Lastings Miledge, and how one NL GM was quoted (annonymously of course), as saying that if the Mets want to deal Miledge, every other team in the bigs would want him.
I have always felt that we need to keep Miledge and avoid another Kazmir debacle, even if dealing him meant bringing ManRam here. The most interesting part of the article though, was the part of it that said that Miledge has been playing LF in the Arizon Fall League. Anyone else find that to be a possible sign of things to come?
Could this mean that Floyd is on the trading block? I say we trade him while his value is at it's highest. I think we got all we are going to get out of Cliff...and we'll never have a better chance to trade him than now. He had a carreer year, played his most games, played a great LF and even led the NL in outfiled assists! With the free agent market being what it is, I think we can get max-value for Cliff right now...so let's do it O-Min!
Furcal a Met?
I heard a rumor, and I am not sure how prevalent it is, that we may pursue Rafael Furcal as a FA in the off-season.
SportsNet New York Minus Fran Healy
The Mets announced the name of their new TV network yesterday with the amamzingly boring and generic name of SportsNet New York. Name aside the more important item is who will be calling the games.
I am glad they didn't follow the narcissim of the Yankees and come up with a name like MES (although it would be an appropriate description of our team until this year). But SportsNet NY??? C'mon! Did Art Howe come up with that name? But I digress, I'll get over the name. I care about what the broadcast team will be.
That announcement has not been made but I hope and pray it is NOT Fran Healy. We've had to listen to this yokel for way too long, but my fear is that Wilpon will show loyalty to him since he's been such a goon for the corporate side of the time. But a NY Times article made an interesting point.
No mention was made yesterday about who will call Mets games on the new network.
It would be wrong to shift Gary Cohen or Howie Rose, a stellar radio team, to TV, but smart to find a true, singular voice of the Mets. One smart move would be to give Dave O'Brien, Channel 11's play-by-play announcer, that role. For analysts, one prime candidate should be Al Leiter, if he retires and can look past his stormy departure from the team; Keith Hernandez might be worth serious consideration.
SportsNet New York can take a stand for quality sportscasting by not taking on Fran Healy, whose longevity on Mets telecasts for 22 years shows him to be a survivor despite a voice that is best muted and a fanny pack full of mediocre insights. Still, the team's loyalty to him might prompt it to let him contribute to the new network, but not on games.
Calling for an exorcism...and a closer
The Mets left their house of horrors, Turner Field, with another stinker of a road series. Over the last few years, in the month of September, the Mets are 4-23 at Jane Fonda Field...I mean Turner Field.
Pitching Rotation
Trachsel is ready to come back and has pitched really well in all of his rehab starts. So, the Mets face a dilemna most teams would love to have, too much starting pitching.
Are you ready for some football?
Well Mets fans, it's that time of year again. The point in the season where the hope you have held out that there is still time, that there is a lot of baseball left, that the "Amazins" can turn it around, all but vanishes into thin air.
Oh-shii out of rotation?
Apparently the Mets have finally had enough of Kaz Os-shii. What the hell took them Seo long? (Sorry, I couldn't resist).
Sorioano and Ishii
The trade rumors have been flying over the last few days on NY sports radio shows. The hottest rumor has us talknig with the Rangers for Soriano, and they are apprently trying to hold us up.
.500 is .500, is .500
There are about two weeks until the trade deadline and everyone is wondering what the Mets will be. Will we be buyers or sellers? Evidence suggests we should be sellers and I agree.
Mets Need to Sell Now
Good article in Newsday that, I think, is right on the money about what this team is, and what it should do.
This Season is Still Progress
Many Mets fans feel that we are watching the same old Mets, not the "New" Mets. Many feel there has been progress this season, so whose right?
Mets Sign Danny Graves
Just announced by Peter Gamons on ESPN.com, we picked up Danny Graves. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2078917
Justin Huber Update
I'm starting to think Mets fans are masochists by nature.
For the love of God Mets Fans
I am asking, no, pleading with all Mets fans to be realistic

Michael Kay is nothing more than a Yankees attack-dog and Steinbrenner's lackey.
