I've heard some complaints that my posts have tended to be negative. Certainly, there's some truth to that. So, I decided to try my hand at a more positive post to show I'm not above some constructive criticism.

Admit it...I was right

I don't want to brag or anything BUT...I seem to remember my post on the Mets needing some fire, dare I say, some edge was met with much disdain and ridicule.

Obviously, Omar was listenting to me because, just a few more miserable games after my post, he called out the team for not playing with what exactly? Some "edge" I believe...how interesting! You guys recall him doing that right?

And suddenly, the Mets are on a little bit of a roll. Again...how interesting! 4 straight wins I believe.

So, I'm full of positivity as you can see. The team is playing well. Johan is ridonculous, my man Wright is leaving April behind, and K-Rod is doing what we brought him here to do. And clearly, it's thanks to my timely and spot on post.

OKAY! OKAY! CALM DOWN EVERYONE!

I'm just having some fun. I know it's not just because of my post...

I apologize for the diatribe...

Guys, I haven't posted in a long, long time to this site. Mostly because it's been hard to get back into caring for our team. Of course I care, but I'm talking about really caring...I've been too crushed the last few years by this team so, I backed off for the sake of not having an anurism because we gagged it up again.

But, inevitably, I always come back. It's the Mets for crying out loud. It's like asking a LiLo to stay away from blow, or asking Keith to shave his moustache...not gonna happen!

Anyway, the point I want to make, why I decided to finally post again, is because I'm very worried about this team. It's 13 games in, but everything just feels exactly the same doesn't it? Sure, the bullpen is vastly improved but, this team still lacks heart, guts, onions, fire, passion, heuvos, cohones, sack, confidence, the will to win at all costs. Do you get what I'm trying to say? NOBODY ON THIS TEAM HAS A BIG FRIGGIN' SET OF BALLS! Nobody is willing to exact their will to win over another team. Nobody holds anyone accountable in the locker room, or is willing to get in anyone's face and DEMAND that they do whatever it takes to win! This is New York for God's sake...we want players with a passion for playing the game!

Case in point...last night's game...8th inning...play at the plate and Beltran doesn't slide. And he has the nerve to say he didn't slide because he was "too close to home" Are you kidding me? How ri-goddamn-diculous is that?!?!?!!

I'm just going to throw a question out there. What do you guys think any of the big 4 players in Philly would have done there? Utley, Howard, Victorino, Rollins. Whatever answer you may have, slide, hook-slide, head-first slide sneaking the arm in, running over the catcher...whatever your answer is...I'm sure there would be something in common with all of them. Those guys would have made the effort...and I'm pretty sure they would've scored.

Do you see the difference? Utley vs. Wright...Howard vs. Delgado...Victorino vs. Beltran...Rollins vs. Reyes. Do you see the difference?

To me gang, I think it's pretty obvious why our team will be the same joke it has been the last few years. And I'm pretty sure I know who's going to take the NL East...the guys who bring the balls to the park every...single...day.

Our Pitching Sucks

I'm of the opinion that, even though we've been playing awful baseball, we'll manage to turn things around and hang on to the division.

But even if we do, and we make the playoffs, how far is our shit pitching going to take us? Even in the weak NL, and how the Cards somehow won it all last year with piss-poor pitching during the regular season, do you really expect our staff to hold up in the playoffs? We can't even hold a lead against the friggin' Nats!!!!

All I know is Mota better not even sniff the post-season roster, and neither should Sele. How about getting some of the call-ups into the games to see if we've got anything there? I've been a big supporter of Willie throughout...but I'm really starting to question his handling of the pitching staff. Why is Mota still getting chances to single-handedly lose games for us?

I don't know what the solution is, but even if we make the playoffs, our pitching will prevent us from winning a title.

Delgado's swing...Mota's deep fried...Green just sucks!

OK...that's it for me boys. After last night's loss to Peavy and the Padres (a game where Brian Lawrence pitched well enough to keep us in the game), I have lost all faith and hope in Mota, and more sadly Delgado. I just threw Green into the subject line because he's been hopless all season...and LoDuca could probably be on this list to but I just like the guy, he's blue-collar.

I'm not sure why, but Delgado has looked LOST at the plate all season. He rarely puts good swings or makes good contact on the ball anymore. And all you need to see to know how lost he is, was his strike out last night to end the game.

0-2 and he awkwardly swings at a bad pitch and sends his bat flying past the mound. I mean it just looked like he's giving up. Like, "F' it man! I have no idea what I'm doing up here!"

If you ask me, he's lost bad speed, and completely lost his repeatable swing. The guy needs to change his approach and mentality at the plate...and I really think he's got WAY too many parts moving before the pitch is delivered. When you lose bad speed, you don't see the ball well, and you move around that much...you're not going to be able to produce a consistent swing.

Here's what I'm proposing and I know it's drastic, but hear me out. They should give him 2 weeks off. 2 weeks to just stay away from the game, the media, and the pressure. And 2 weeks for HoJo to work with him exclusively on quieting his swing, closing his stance a bit, keeping his hands a little higher and much quieter, and concentrating on having his top-hand drive the bat through the zone. He should only try and hit the ball up the middle and to left, and NOWHERE else!

I am telling you, you watch any good hitter come back from a slump and what's the first thing they do...they go to the opposite field or up the middle. They hit the ball where it's pitched, they stay calmer and quiter and just concentrate on good contact in the zone. This is the hitter Delgado needs to become at this point, and I'd be willing to bet that once he can repeat a good swing consistently, he'd start to hit for power again in due time.

So, what do you guy's think? Am I nuts? Or do I sound like a genius? And oh yeah,...Mota needs to go!

WTF is wrong with our beloved Mets this year? Just about every time you think they've had a turning point game, and going to start hitting their stride, they seem to inevitably stub their toe.

I have not liked the way this season has progressed; injuries aside, the level of play and consistency has been worrisome.

You can talk about the bullpen, the up-and-down starting pitching, or the production fall-off for much of the line-up (oh, and that Shawn Green has cost the Mets a ton of runs. Be it from use utter futility at the plate and always stranding runners...or be it to his attrocious "defense").

For me, there is one sign that I think is clear and the cause for most concern. This team cannot help itself from playing up or down to the competition (the Braves excluded of course). We can go and play great against the Brewers and Cubs, but we can't handle the Pirates, Nats and Marlins like we should.

I don't know if it's the hang over from last year...but I certainly hope that it's one of those things where they trun it on for the stretch run and the playoffs. Otherwise, I fear that we may not be enjoying baseball in October for very long. Thoughts?

As evidenced by his attrocious "attempt" to make a diving catch, Green is just a horrible fielder.

I know he made that nice catch in Glavine's start Tuesday night, but a normal RF wouldn't have had to dive to get there...they would have been there already.

I can't stand watching him play any more. His bat is painfully slow, and his defense is nothing short of horrendous!

I'd rather see Lastings or Marlon out there instead of him. It's getting to be ridiculous that he still has the starting job.

Ok, we are well in to SNY's inagural season and for the most part I have been pretty happy with the channel.

There are things that irk me, like when they lead with Yankees coverage, but nothing irks me more than that hack David Lee. Watching him do the Sports New York highlight show is like watching Zambrano pitch. Utterly maddening, and you know that guy has no clue what he's doing.

How can we hire a chump like this and put him on the air? I feel like just about anybody could have gotten that job, you just had to show up. Does anyone else feel this way? I've watched him butcher highlights enough that I had to say something about it. He flat-out sucks!

This is going to haunt us for his entire career, straight from the Elias Sports Bureau. It's very depressing.

Scott Kazmir topped Dontrelle Willis to complete the Devil Rays' sweep of the Marlins. You could make a strong case that Kazmir, not Willis, is now the "best young left-hander" not just in Florida, but in the majors. At the time of last year's All-Star break, Willis was 13-4 with a 2.39 ERA while Kazmir was 3-7 with a 4.59 ERA. But since then, Willis is 10-11 with a 3.72 ERA and Kazmir is 14-4 with a 2.61 ERA.

Kazmir earned his seventh victory of the year in the Devil Rays' 44th game. That's the earliest in a season that a Tampa Bay pitcher has ever reached that mark; Kazmir did it in six fewer games than it took Rolando Arrojo during the Rays' inaugural season (game No. 50 in 1998).

Kazmir is tied for the major league lead in wins. Over the eight previous years of Tampa Bay's brief history (1998-2005) no Devil Rays pitcher finished a season ranked among the top 30 winners in the majors. Only two ranked among the top 50: Arrojo in 1998 (14 wins tied him for the 32nd spot among the leaders) and Tanyon Sturtze in 2001 (tied for 50th with 11 wins).

After an adventurous weekend series with the Yankees that should have been a sweep, Willie summed things up great.

I was at the Saturday debacle and I, of course, left angry and questioning Willie's handling of the situation. I don't question him for bringing Wagner in...that's a good team and you want to nail it down. Heilman was not available and you don't want Julio in there if you can avoid it. Who else would you have brought in, Bradford, Feliciano?

You cannot manage scared or worried about what the fans, and Mike and the Mad Dog are going to say. Do I think he left him in there too long? Yes! But, I'm not paid to manage and for someone with zero managerial experience until last season, he's done a pretty good job. Forget Xs and Os, what matter is results and we are in first place.

What bothered me more was Cairo being able to steal second AND third in the bottom of the 10th...WITHOUT A FRIGGIN' THROW!!! How do George July (my name for Jorge Julio) and Ramon Castro allow that to happen? HOW!?!?! But I digress...my point is that I loved Willie's quote from yesterday's game. "If you're scared, get a dog."

I was enjoying the comments left on the game thread after Zambrano's latest debacle. Nothing like watching a guy get 2 outs on six pitches, have the pitcher up, and then proceed to load the bases and give up a granny!

Great stat on Zambrano. He's given up 5 HRs in his last 9 IP...and he had two strikes on every hitter. That is why, my friends, I started the Trade Zambrano petition (http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Trade_Victor_Zambrano/) Willie and Rick are towing the company line but even they cannot defend this schlub anymore. He needs to go and we need to speak up and convince Fred to make it happen. Go sign the petition people, please! For the love of God, please sign it!
