I attended Texas A&M, Texas A&M Corpus Christi & Texas A&M Kingsville.
(I just wanted to be thorough!)

I left school, without a degree, for health reasons...and then life got in the way, and I've yet to go back - though that's not a huge regret, nor is it something that can't be corrected when the opportunity presents itself!

I studied sports medicine; and I have over 4,000 hours experience as an athletic trainer; and more than 2600 hours as a physical therapy aide. When I do get to go finish that degree (only a year to go!); it's to this field I'll return. I absolutely love it - I get to work with my hands, be outdoors, watch sports, help people...My little joke is that I get paid to watch sports, and only have to work when someone gets injured!

I'm married and have 2 wonderful (though sometimes irritating!) children - Aidan and Cordelia. My husband is an officer with the California Highway Patrol; he's been on the job since '98.

I am an aboslute Disney fanatic. We go to Disneyland several times a year (and by several, I mean 5 or 6) - and Wall-e is my favorite movie.

bad news folks...

My son fell off the bed while playing around and broke both bones in his right arm. We'll talk to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to learn if he needs surgery or not. Either way it's 6-8 weeks in a cast. I've seen nastier breaks on the field, but when its your child...Well, I did the best I could, and that's all I can do.

I'll do my best to check in early next week - but I ask your forgiveness if I'm not able to log in for a little while...Feel free to ask whatever questions you have, that'll keep my brain distracted, and I'll answer them ASAP.

Take care folks, and have a wonderful weekend!

Howdy!

I just wanted to take a moment to say "Howdy Y'all!" and briefly introduce myself.

I'm a 5th generation native Californian...and I currently live in San Jose, CA. I am a stay-at-home mom --  my son Aidan will be 5 in October, and my daughter, Cordelia turned 2 in August. My husband, Tom, is a peace officer, he's spent the last 11 years with the California Highway Patrol.

I am a former student of our beloved Texas A&M - I was there in 1996; before transferring to TAMU Corpus Christi & Kingsville. My major was phyical education - with an emphasis in sports medicine/athletic training. I left school without my degree due to medical reasons...then got married and had kids! But, I plan to return to college this spring and should finish as a member of the class of 2010!

I spent 8 years working as an assistant athletic trainer at a local community college; as well as 4 high schools (both in Texas & California). I also spent 11 years working as a physical therapy aide at 2 local clinics; and as a geriatric exercise specialist at Los Gatos Hospital.

I will do my best to log in at least once a week and offer my perspective & insights on recent injuries and other matters of personal interest.

Thank you kindly & have a stellar week!
Penny
