I'm Stephanie,I'm 24,I live in Tampa, which makes me a Lightning fan by default, but I'm a Penguins fan by choice, which draws a lot of "abuse" from my friends, all of whom can't stand Sid,and are all about Ovechkin. Personally,I can't stand Ovechkin, but I keep my Ovie-bashing to myself, for the most part, because that's a debate I know I'll never win. ANYWAY.....I've been into hockey since 2004,when the Lightning made it to,and won the Cup finals. I got hard-core into it in the 07-08 season, and I got into the Penguins during the playoffs. But before that,I had only seen the Penguins twice before the playoff--the Winter Classic, and when they were in Tampa, and that was only out of curiosity about Sid,because up until then,I had only heard about him,and then I heard all the negative things people said and thought,so I decided to make up my own mind about him. But yeah......yes,that's Coach Bylsma with me in my profile picture....my friend and I had the chance to meet him,and talk to him for a minute, when the Pens were in Tampa then end of the season. He was super-nice. My favorite players on P-burgh are Max,Sid,Geno,Jordan,Marc-Andre Fleury,Kris Letang,Chris Kunitz,......actually,there's no one on the team I DON'T like. On my home-town team,my favorite players is,first and foremost,Vinny Lecavalier, then Paul Ranger,Paul Szczechura,Andrej Meszaros, and Evgeny Artyukhin.

Am I a hypocrite?
I recently posted a blog on my NHL Connect page about the Crosby/Ovechkin debate, and, being a fan of Sid,naturally,I was saying what I liked about him,and not criticizing OV,per se,but using a variation of his last name that I came up with, and referred to him as "Alex the not-so-great". I also included a chewing-out I gave 2 of my friends via Facebook during I believe, game 5 or 6....I don't remeber...anyway,these friends had started in on the Crosby bashing, and at one point,I finally told them to shut the f*** up,and that "all you little Red Wings fans need to come down off your f***ing pedestals, back down to Earth, and get over the diving, whining, and homophobia"---it's like, yes,Sid's a good looking guy,but just because you never hear of him going out every night, passing himself around to every girl in town, and having a piece of ass in every town he goes to,does not make him gay. People who have commented have pretty much called me a hypocrite for praising Sid,and bashing Alex Ovechkin....The way I see it,everyone else does it,so why can't I? I personally know people who practically worship AO,and detest Sid(the aforementioned friends, and some of their friends who have been brought into the group),and they have,on more than one occasion,in my presence, said something awful about Sid in one breath, and then said something praising OV in the next. So I have to ask.....does this make me a hypocrite?

Congratulations to Sid and the boys!
Well, the playoffs are officially over, and a new Stanley Cup champion has been crowned--the Penguins. It's really weird--the final score was 2-1.....the same final score when Tampa won the Cup in 2004--when Ruslan Fedotenko was there; the same guy scored those 2 goals, only this time around,Feds was present, but it was Max who scored both times. And it was a game 7.....creepy,right? Well anyway, the fact that the Penguins forced a game 7 proved how much they wanted it. And I seeeeeriously have to laugh at the fact the Marion Hossa got to the Penguins at the 07-08 trade deadline, went to the Cup finals, lost in game 6 with Pittsburgh--to Detroit, mind you--then LEFT for Detroit on free agency probably thinking "well,Detroit's a good, winning team...maybe I'll have a chance to win a Cup there..." WRONG! He went to Detroit, made it to game 7of the Cup finals, only to have the Cup pretty much yanked out from under him by the team he left in the dust last summer. All I can say is ROFLMAO!!!!!!
And call me weird or crazy or whatever, but for the last week and a half,I had been having this image of non-specific people in non-specific white jerseys raising the Cup. Last night, that image proved to be who I was hoping it would be.
And now that Sid has won the Stanley Cup,his haters are beside themselves with annoyance. Especially my group of friends. My sister,my friend Vickie, and I are the only 3 of our group that likes Pittsburgh, and Sidney Crosby, and everyone else in our circle loathe and detest him, while at the same time worshipping Alex Ovechkin (or O-bitch-kin,as we who like Sid like to refer to "Alex the not-so-Great"). I actually went off on a couple of my friends via Facebook a few nights ago. One friend had posted a status saying something to the effect of Go Detroit, and one of her friends commented saying Go Pens....naturally I agreed with the other friend, and this huge argument insued---I told the 2 people I'm friends with to shut the f*** up,and that all the Detroit fans need to come down off their G.D.-pedestals,and come back down to Earth, and to get the f*** over the whole "Crosby's a whiner" and "Crosby's a diver",and "Crosby's a wuss"--that that was his rookie season, and the only reason he says anything to the refs is to keep the opposing team from trying to KILL him (seriously, from where I sit, that's what it looks like is happening 99% of the time--especially if it's Philadelphia, but don't get me started on that) ,and after all was said and done,I was angrier than I think I had been in a really long time--at least where hockey's concerned. As I said in my "About Me" section of my profile, being a Sidney Crosby fan in my group draws a lot of "abuse",either directed to me,or just something nasty said in my presence. You would think I would be used to all of the disdain that seems to follow Sid,but it still irritates me to no end. Please tell me I'm not alone on that........But with that being said,I can gloat for awhile to my Sid-hating friends and remind them that on the unofficialy tally sheet, that's one for Sid,and wait....how many for Alex Ovechkin? NONE! HA! And when's the last time Philly won the Stanley Cup? 1975? HA HA...And in all honesty,I'm really happy for Sid and the boys. Yeah,I live in Florida, and I'm a Lightning fan by default, but I'm a Penguins fan by choice. So that's all I've got for now...Later...
PS--I also have a promise to keep----when the playoffs got started,I told my friend Vickie, and my sister, that if the Pens win the Stanley Cup,I WILL get the Penguins logo tattooed on my ankle. And whenever I go get it done,I'm going to have them work a #25 into it somehow---for Max,because he's my favorite guy on the team. And I'll be sure to post pictures........It'll probably be closer to Christmas, but ya know.......
