What I saw.

Seeing as this was my first Bronco game that I have seen in person I feel somewhat obligated to write a small report of what I saw.

1. Spencer Larson and Wesley Woodyard are the future at linebacker. Those guys were flying around making plays all night. I can't say enough about Spencer's heart.

2. Peyton Hillis has what it takes to be a running back in Denver's system. Other then one goalline stuff Hillis ran hard all night and definitely had a nose for the end zone.

3. Royal is fast supplanting Marshall as Cutler's go-to guy. Cutler looks very comfortable throwing to Fast Eddie.

4. From what I saw of them, I must say that Atlanta fans are a great group of people. No complaints on that front. The two guys sitting next to me were nice the whole game, asked me some questions about Bronco starters, and filled in some information for me abour Falcons players.

5. There were alot of Denver fans at the game. I expected to be nearly alone in Atlanta, but the Denver faithful turned out in droves.

6. Cutler didn't take any unneccessary risks with the football. His decision making was very smooth and although he didn't have flashy stats he showed quite a bit of maturity.

7. Jamie Winborn has lead hands. Well, perhaps that is too harsh, but my heart skipped a beat when he dropped what would have been the game clinching interception.

8. Overall our defense is improving noticeably. I felt so much more secure when the defense came out onto the field then in previous games. They had Turner's number for most of the game. Take away that 25 yard TD and he had mabye a 2 yard per carry average.

Well that's all. An exciting game that gave Cutler his sixth 4th quarter comeback for a win, and I was there to see it all.

Fight breaks out out Raiders press conference.

Just about what I would expect at a Raiders conference.

The old man doing the threatening is John Herrera the PR guy for the Raiders and the Asian guy is Tim Kawakami a writer for the Mercury News.

Raider Fight Club - Reporter vs. PR Rep.

And people wonder why Lane wants out. This is just sad. How does an NFL franchise allow one of their employees to do this. Of course the reporter gets a little cocky and may have instigated it by accusing Herrera of spreading bad PR about Kiffin, but still this is a little extreme.

Your thoughts?

Three Chargers don't practice.

The Chargers have just announced that Antonio Cromartie, Marcus McNeill, and LaDainian Tomlinson did not practice today. If Cromartie is out we may be looking at another monster night from Royal who would be matched up against a rookie cornerback, and if the Chargers respond by giving the rookie safety help that would leave Marshall alone against Jammer.

The biggest question though has to be, "What if LT does not play?" This turn of events would free up Denver's safeties to support the LB covering Gates or to help over the top against Chambers and Jackson.

Here is B. Williamson's take on the news.

Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson

The Chargers injury situation for Sunday's game didn't improve Thursday.

Cornerback Antonio Cromartie (hip), left tackle Marcus McNeill (neck) and running back LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) all did not practice for the second straight day today.

While it is still three days until San Diego plays at Denver on Sunday, it is not a good sign that the three standouts did not practice. Usually in the NFL, when players miss an entire week of practice they do not play on the weekend. Tomlinson, however, said Wednesday he would for sure play against Denver.

Left tackle Marcus McNeill didn't play against Carolina on Sunday and he was replaced by L. J. Shelton will likely play for McNeill again, if he can't go against Denver.

There are indications Cromartie may not play against Denver. He finished the game against Carolina, but he has not healed very well this week. That could open the door for first-round pick Antoine Cason to start a cornerback in place of the Pro Bowler Cromartie.

If Cason plays, he'd likely face Denver rookie Eddie Royal, who burnt Oakland quarterback DeAngelo Hall routinely Monday night. If that is the case, Quentin Jammer will likely be on Denver star Brandon Marshall, who will be making his 2008 debut after serving a one-game NFL suspension last week.

Meanwhile, for San Diego, tight end Antonio Gates practiced on a limited basis again today. He is dealing with a hip problem and his nagging left toe injury. Also, center Nick Hardwick practiced on a limited basis for the second day in a row. He's not expected to play for another couple weeks as he heals from a foot injury.

Denver did not report any injury status changes today.

A warning for Merriman

This article details the problems that former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Reggie Williams had from playing on a torn PCL and ACL. While it did not affect him during his playing career it had a terrible toll on his knees after.

A quick picture of his knee now.

Dont look if you're squeamish

Like Williams, Merriman is gambling his future health and security in order to get more of what he wants now. A dangerous attitude that may have terrible ramifications.
