GameDay Sign Ideas
Some of my Tech alum friends and I were discussing possible sign ideas for ESPN College Gameday. A few were heading back to Lubbock for the game and were taking suggestions. I figured I'd create a post that allowed others to share their sign ideas or, for those heading to the Engineering Key on Saturday, steal a few creative ones. Below are a few that we came up with, and feel free to add some more in the comments section:
Red Raiders Burn Orange
Tech Serving Bevo BBQ for Dinner
Mike Leach Stayed at a Holiday Inn Express Last Night
4th and 24? We're Going For It
Harrell and Crabtree for Co-Heisman
5 + 6 = 7 (Crabtree and Harrell's numbers, just in case you didn't catch that one)
Texas Tech: The Leading Cause of Punter Extinction
Texas Tech: Defense Suggested But Not Required
Crabtree is an ATM: Automatic Touchdown Machine
Matt Williams for Heisman

Anyone know when Tech-A&M tix go on sale?
The wife and I are heading down to College Station for the game this year, and I hadn't seen anything on when the tickets will be released to the public, besides the one's being sold on stubhub.com.
And in order to make this post 75 words long, I guess I will give my prediction for the game. I think it's going to be another close one. I will say Tech comes out on top, 31-27. Anyone else planning on heading down to College Station? I went two years ago and from the nosebleeds, I saw Robert Johnson make one of the most memorable catches I'd ever seen. I was also there in 2002 when the Red Raiders pulled off a comeback win in OT. It's a great place to see a football game if you've never been.

ESPN.com gives the Masked Rider tradition some love
On ESPN.com's College Football page, the current Masked Rider Ashley Hartzog is the main story. In all my years, I've never seen the Masked Rider get any praise on a national level (anything positive anyway). This was a great article about the Texas Tech tradition and what it takes to become the Masked Rider.
This was one of my favorite lines from Tim Griffin's article:
You can have Bevo (Texas), Reveille (Texas A&M), the Sooner Schooner (Oklahoma) or Willie the Wildcat (Kansas State) on his motorcycle. But there's something about the charge of the Masked Rider before the Red Raiders take the field for each home game that sets this tradition apart.
Here's the link for the story: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/index

'Sharp' Dresser Representing Raiderland at U.S. Open
Texas Tech has some representation this weekend at San Diego's Torrey Pines South Course, as Tech alum Andrew Dresser held a spot on the leaderboard for a short while before getting eaten alive by the treacherous course. Dresser got to 2-under on the Front Nine before slipping at the end to finish at 5-over. Not a bad showing for his first of hopefully many majors.
One Highlight: ESPN's Chris Berman called him a "A Sharp Dresser" as he holed his second birdie to put him two shots off the leader.
[Note by Seth C, 06/14/08 6:18 AM CDT ] Dresser's made the cut . Congrats!
