Ireland defends Gibril
Unless they think Clemons is the guy I hope we address the safety position. I really like LSU"s Chad Jones

Rey Maualuga Possible
Hey guys I'm fairly new to the site here, which I think is awesome by the way. Anyway I read something which I found intrigueing, I believe I read it here at this site. It was about an unnamed "source" close to Parcells, who claimed that he knew who our FO was going to pick and that it was a certain USC LB who they were prepared to trade up for in order to do so.
This got me thinking, assuming that the "source" is talking about Rey Maualuga who I believe is the perhaps the best linebacker in the draft period, what would it take to get him? In order to determine this I looked at the draft order to figure out possible landing spots for him or in Matty's words "pressure points" in the draft. It did'nt take long to figure out being that just about every mock draft I looked at had him going 16th over all to the chargers. I am inclined to agree with this except i believe it's also very likely he gets drafted by the broncos at 12th over all.
Lets take a look at what it would take us to move up from pck 25 to 12 the Broncos pick. This can be determined by taking a look at the Draft Value Chart. The 12th pick is worth 1200 points , our 25 pick is worth 720 the difference is 480 points or in this case we would have to give the Broncos the 42 pic over all or the equivlent of 480 points to get up to their spot, although i believe that they would accept our 44th over all i believe this is to steep a price to pay and would rather just stay at 25 and keep our 44th pick.
On the other hand lets say we go off what most of the "experts" are saying which is that San Diego will take him at 16. That means we would have to move up to Houston at 15.This pick is worth 1050 points now in order to move up we would have to make up the difference which would be 330 points while i don't want to give up our 56th pick overall either, I would be willing to give them our 3rd or 4th round pick (87 or 108) along with John Beck (keep in mind they traded their back up QB Sage Rosfels to the Vikings) in order to move up and grab a LB who some people compare to Jr. Seau. I just want to say I would'nt really want to give them our 3rd or 4th either I'm just going off the value chart. Personnally I would gauge what it would take to move up by offering John Beck by himself to see what value they place on him then I would start to offer draft picks starting with the 7th round.
I know alot of people here want us to draft a WR or CB with our first pick , but after reading Matty's recent post about our WR's as much as I would love Nicks in a phins jersey I would be content with grabbing one later, And as far as corners go I think we could still get Sean smith with the 44th pick or any of the Don Careys or Greg Toller's of the world later.
I just wanted to know what you guys think.. on a side note Jamie Dukes's mock has Michael Johnson going 15 to the Texans and does'nt even have Maualuga going in the first round, I have a few questions for him, what is he smoking?, and where can I find some?...also Finsx I have'nt been here long enough to know if you really like Mr. Beck or if your being sarcastic....
New to Phinsider
Hey guys, I'm a die hard phins fan. I hail from Washington D.C ( home of Dan Steinbrenner I mean Schneider) I've been checking the site out dailey for the past month and decided to join. I love the site , I think you guys are awesome. I want to give my two cents on the draft I think the damn pats have the same needs we do and that worries me.I really want Larry English with our 25th pick but since I think He'll be taken I'm officially joining the Sean Smith bandwagon ( hopefully Ron brace and Robiskie follow). I also like Cushing, Nicks, and Britt. Thanks for having me GO PHIIIINNNSSS!!!
