348 days since a Phins arrest!
Can they go a whole year?
If there is no season in 2011, what happens to players existing contracts? Are they pushed out a year, or do they run as if there had been a season? I assume that they run as if there had been a season, although they don't get paid.
Where is Ingram in this mock?
I had to read through it 6 times to find him!
CBA
Just saw on CNN that NFL & NFLPA have agreed to an extension of the NFL year. Don't have any details yet.
And with the 17th pick, the Raiders choose . . .
Oh, wait, Patsies have that pick . . .
No new speed demons for old Al.
At least The U have the fastest 40 this year. Something good for them!
2011 draft QB's - Who has the "it" factor
According to this, none of the 4 projected 1st rounders. Basically says all 4 are hit or bust prospects.
(I don't want the Phins to pick any of them)
Should we draft Ponder?
I dunno. The more I read about him the more I like him. I kinda see him as a blend of Brees & CP10. We passed on Brees, much to our chagrin today. Everyone loves CP10, specially as a QB coach. Ponder seems to me to be the Brady pick of this year's draft. Ponder was projected as a first rounder if he had come out last year and is now projected in late 2 to 4 from what I have seen so far. Who cares if he can not throw it 150 yds in the air? How many times in the season, much less any one game does ANY QB throw it 50 to 70 yds in the air? Most of the truly big yard plays are the result of the receiver efforts after the catch. CP10 heaved it some 50 yds in the air to Ginn who was well in front of Revis Island. If CP10 can do it, anyone can. The difference is accuracy. 70 yds in the air is worthless if it can not be caught, because of poor accuracy, overthrow, underthrow, hitting Jerry Jones monster TV screen or whatever. I think I might want to be the driver of the Draft Ponder bandwagon. I don't really like any of the other QBs in this draft except maybe Colin K.
What does the greatest nation on earth - Phins Nation - think?

7 people taking snaps from center in 1 game - a NFL record?
Everyone seems to forget that Cobbs also took 1 snap from the center in the game today - even if it was a forgettable fake punt on 4th & 3 which gained maybe 1 yd.
Soooooooo over Steelers & Moss, part 2
Now to compare the O!
Ravens stats are better than Phins in only two areas!

I am soooooooo over Steelers and Moss & looking at Ravens
Now I know stats do not tell the whole story, but they can give you some indications. I have read a lot of comments about how bad-arse the Ravens defense is. The stats will surprise you, if not open your eyes a little.
The Ravens defense out ranks the Phins in two, count 'em, TWO areas! And not by much in either.

I am a die-hard Dolphins fan. I meet Leroy the WHISTLE MONSTER and his wife at the San Francisco airport on Tuesday night after the 49ers game. We were both headed home (me to south FL, Leroy obviously you know where).
All your fans here that commented over at The Phinsider last year before our game were great and we (Phins fans) enjoyed having them over.
I truly enjoyed meeting Leroy and his wife - both very knowledgeable fans as well as very nice people indeed.
Next time any of you see Leroy, tell him that I said Hi, and Who Dat? Good luck to the Saints and I hope we meet again in Dallas!
My only and final comment on the Ireland-Dez mess
The one thing I have not seen addressed in all this mess is, that in blunt truth the media is responsible for causing questions of this type to be asked in the first place.
Say, for example, that Dez’s answer to the question was yes, and the info was discovered by the media after he was drafted, does anyone think that the media would have taken kindly to the FO drafting Dez in the first place? IMHO, the media would have been screaming from the rooftops that the FO has to go, cause they draft players with this background and are tacitly approving of the behavior. And it would NOT make any difference if the player acted like a saint off the field or not! It would also reign destruction on any charitable efforts the player attempted to do in the city where he plays.
Would that happen to anyone in ANY other industry? Hell no. The media pokes their nose into stuff that is NOT their business (for a recent high profile example see Tiger Woods. I do not like him, but not for what happened, that is between he and his wife).

J Peezy n/k/a J Pissy or J Princess
Anyone think that the FO is trying to screw with JP? Release, unrelease , , , (what's next?)
I wonder if Pissy didn't play as hard for the rest of the season after the Tampa game. Please post your thoughts on this, 'cause if he did slack off on porpoise, then I wonder what the 7-9 would have been if he played all out all year.
Personally, if I was PP, the first time J Princess refused to come out for a substitution, I would have called a time-out, pulled J Pissy off to the side and warned him (Remember Porter, you ARE an employee). The second time I would have sent him straight to the showers in the middle of the game. The third time I would have let him ride wood for the rest of the season. (or put him on IR - for psychological reasons!) What do you think?
Does anyone else think that this situation with the Princess was one of the big reasons PP was fired? I know that I would get rid of an employee who couldn't handle or manage their subordinates and allowed this kind of insubordination to continue and fester.
Wilfork questions
I have been reading the articles about Vince Wilfork. You can tell that the man got a real education at the U, as well as playing football for them. He eloquently and succinctly states his case, which is backed up with his play on the field this year.
He states that he did not want a rookie 6-year contract. Others state that Patsies hardballed him (and others) as a 6-yr contract or no contract. I understand his position, clearly a 4 or 5-year contract is better for a player, especially of his caliber. Now he says he wants a long term contract, obviously one that pays according to his ability and past production. I certainly have no problem with that! He is a proven quantity, and I believe with the right contract, also a team leader!
Now for my questions.
1- If Patsies franchise him, it is limited to a 1-year contract. What are the pay limitations thereunder? Is it the 30% raise under the no-CBA rules? Could they franchise him again next year, and so on?
2- If Patsies franchise him and then trade him, is his new team required to honor the franchise contract, or can they give him a long-term equitable contract?
3- If, under 2 above, the new team is required to honor the franchise contract, can they give him a long-term contract that starts the next year while ignoring the 30% raise cap?
4- If the Patsies franchise him, is he REQUIRED to sign the contract? If so, does he actually have to show up and dress out for games, but not play? Or can he simply sit out the year? (I do not think he hurts his contract value elsewhere doing this, and there is no danger of an injury!)
5- Since he is a UFA, isn't the franchise tag the only way the Patsies get any trade value out of him?
6- Are the Patsies really that frigging egotistical and moronic to think that players will play for them for lower pay? Are they really egotistical and moronic to let Wilfork walk away, (to Miami, of course!)?
Obviously some of this info will apply to other available talent in FA market. Wilfork simply seems to be first into this game, and he fills one of Phins big needs with a proven quantity.
Matty . . .
Thank you for being the class act that you are.
John B at GGN is a douche just like the blimp, I mean coach, that he loves and praises.
John edited your comment here about posting over at GGN so it would say what HE wanted it to say and then proceeded to call you out over it.
You took the high road.
I called out John B in his own thread for editing your comment and calling you something akin to a used condom.
John B did NOT respond. (Imagine THAT!)
I also called John B out for blasting and banning some of the Phins fans that posted on GGN, while encouraging Jest fans to post the same over here. I called him out for NOT coming down on one specific Jest fan who posted wanting addresses of Phins fans who live in Fla, cause he was gonna go to our houses "and kick our asses" as he so politely put it.
Matty has jumped feet first on posters who talk about seeing players getting hurt on opposing teams (before such happens), yet John B did nothing about the asshole Jest fan who said he wished that the Phins and Pats airplanes would crash into each other, that nothing would make him happier.
Which has come first? Douchebag fans or douchebag coaches and players? With the Jest, probably simultaniously!
Anyway, thank you again Matty for being the editor of Phinsider, and showing your class!
Saints are coming to town - let's dig a little
This post is NOT to dis the Saints - they ARE a good team. But are they really as good as the hype says they are?
Saints have beaten the Lions - a gimme here! They are 1-5
Saints beat the Bills - and so have we - and we KNOW the Bills who are 2-4 (who would be 1-5 but for their glorious win over the Jest
Saints beat the Jest - again and so have we. At 3-3, who have the Jest beat? 0-6 Titans, 3-3 Houston (with wins over 0-6 Titans & 2-4 Raiders!) and the 4-2 Brady which proves the "on any given Sunday . . . statement
Saints beat the 3-2 Eagles - who have beaten the 0-6 Bucs, 1-5 Chiefs and 2-3 Panthers
Saints beat the vaunted 5-1 Giants.
Three gimmes here - 0-6 Bucs, 1-5 Chiefs and 2-4 Redskins (whose 2 wins are against 0-6 Rams & 0-6 Bucs)
Then you have the Raiders at 2-4, who beat 1-5 Chiefs and were handed a win by 3-2 Eagles; prolly another gimme
Giants beat 3-2 Dallas, whose wins are over 0-6 Bucs, 1-5 Chiefs & 2-3 Panthers
So, neither the Saints nor the Giants have been tested yet this season, at least not until they played each other.
Never to underestimate the Saints, just looking at the facts here, but combined 10 wins (Saints & Giants) with only 2 of the 10 coming against teams over .500 (so far) and those 2 teams over .500 with zero wins against over .500 teams!
Just saying that I believe that this game IS winnable Sunday. We should have lost to Atlanta, cause no one showed up to play. We could have beat the Colts, but the D stayed home. Chargers is a toss-up cause CP10 was hurt and Henne was thrown in without preparation. Could Phins have beaten SD if CP10 had not gotten hurt? Yes, no, maybe.

Refs, bad calls & challenges
Personally I believe that coaches should be able to challenge ref calls like that asinine total bullshiest PI call Monday night.
Refs should not be able to get away with bad calls that can change the outcome of the game! That one Monday night had the potential to do so. (Or the bad roughing the passer on B'more against the Brady, which may well HAVE changed that game's outcome)
My only relief is that the Phins had the time left in the game to respond and that they did in a BIG way and won in spite of the BAD CALL! Like someone else said in another post or comment - Phins beat the vaunted Jests D AND the refs Monday!
Tell me if you agree, disagree, have no opinion, are a Jest fan, a Brady fan, whatever!
Blog v blog
I took a few minutes to check out all the AFCE blogs. Boy was I shocked! Phinsider is the biggest & best by far!
Gang green nation is soooooooooooo bad they need to amputate before it infects all the others! The FP stories for the most part were no where near as well written as Matty's. Then you look and they have like 2 comments per story. At most! There are about 800 total fan posts. look at the all time favorites in fan posts - #1 has 1 rec and about 30 comments! Is it because JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJets fans can't read or write?
Pats Pulpit is almost as bad. FP stories are better written, but still not a lot of comments, but more than 2. Better fan posts, about 1600. It seems like there are only about 5 pats fans that comment. At least there is some respect and recognition for what the Phins accomplished last year (except for 1 guy)
Buffalo ramblings was even better. Pretty well written FP stories. But nowhere as many comments as over here. Fan Posts are over 1800. Also some respect for Phins there. And some realistic observations on their chances this year.
On one, I do not remember which, their live pre-season thread had 70 comments. That's it folks! (think it might have been JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJets, not certain)
Phinsider has hands down the most well written FP stories, Matty's and those he chooses to FP as well. Those historical posts are pure Pulitzer quality! (Mosul or Medic - whichever writes them (old age you know) deserves a lifetime Matty Achievement Award, or three) We have over 3600 fan posts. Our all time favorite has 26 recs (at last count) - I know it is cheating cause it is Matty's thread for people going to whichever game, but still! Our first PS game live thread had what, 1700 comments? I think that may be more comments than the JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJets and Pats total comments combined! We have regular visitors from Jags and Bills that are fun to have around. Maybe it is boring over in homer land for them. On occasion we are visited by a Pats fan or three - 2 nice, 1 not so nice.We have what seems like 1000 regular commenters here, which really makes it fun. We have had some raucous debates on different subjects - the most heated being CP v Henne, but we all seem to come out of them as still friends. We don't call each other names, except in jest, like I saw a little of elsewhere. (not a lot mind you).
I want to thank each and everyone here for their thoughts opinions and comments. I feel like I have learned a great deal about football in general, specific player positions, and the Phins as a team. I have been a Dolphin fan for almost 40 years, but never have I understood it like I do today, because of all of you. Thanks folks.

Henne is the messiah . . .
I am sick and tired of all the BS that Henne is “the messiah” and that CP is just a caretaker progress-stopper and all that other BS that has been spouted here! Anyone who has the gall to say that Henne would have made this pass or that pass or not cost the Phins 11 points so far in the PS needs to whip out their crystal ball and lay out EXACTLY what will happen this year to a less than interested 3rd party. (I nominate Teal Deal or Temson - reasonable realistic closet Phins fans). My crystal ball broke years ago, and the replacement has been on back order from Office Depot for years!
I have asked several of the Henne lovers here who talk about him being "our" "franchise QB" just exactly what is THEIR definition of "franchise QB"
I have asked this question about 5 or 6 times over the last month or so. To date none of them has been willing to post THEIR definition of “franchise QB” (nor even someone else’s!)
If the definition of “franchise QB” is that the only prerequisite is he can throw the ball 50 yards downfield, then I do not want to see Phins get a franchise QB
If the definition of “franchise QB” is a QB that gets wins, low TO rate, protects the ball and the team, is a LEADER not a bloody prima dona, then . . . gee . . . we HAVE one! – CP10
CP10 was an integral and important part of this TEAM going from 1-15 to winning the AFCE in ONE season! If you can not give the man the respect he has EARNED than IMHO you have no business posting here! This place is for fans of the TEAM, not one individual. If you want to heap praise on ONE player go to the Pats Pulpit, ’cause as far as Patsie fans and the media, there is ONLY one player there that counts!
Griese did not have Marino's arm and Henne is no Marino
And Griese has rings and Marino doesn’t.
I will take a Griese style QB as my franchise QB any day of the millenia!
(Matty, notice that I cleaned it up from the comment stage to the Post stage - does NOT mean I am any less ticked off, just that I respect you!)

Training camp injuries
If I recall correctly I have seen 5 injuries in camp NFL wide in the last 2 or 3 days. Including at least 1 WR, 1 RB and Vikes QB. Then the JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJets tried to add to that today with 3, yes THREE fights in 15 minutes today.
We have done a LOT of back and forth over various players and positions over the last 1 to 2 months. As well as schedules. Anyone think that our schedule is going to be made easier or harder due to injuries - ours or theirs (our opponents this year)?
If I knew how to do a poll, I would. And first choice on that poll would be Tom Brady - injury again, or not?
Showing 1 - 24 of 24
