Watching game film ... IN THE HUDDLE
I was watching a game on TV and Popeye Jones was showing video to Devin and others in the huddle. He had some type of tablet PC, maybe an Apple. I noticed that when he wasn’t showing film, there was a menu on his screen, consisting of eight or so stills.
Has anyone heard about this technique? How is it done? Are there video coordinators behind the scenes, streaming stuff to Popeye?
Do other sports teams do this?
Does anyone have info on this?

The city's public advocate is a supporter of the Atlantic Yards project. Why should we stop arguing about this issue just because it's all decided now?

NY/NJ - how the two states FEEL to me
Proposal for a new item on player stat lines
On a player’s stat line, there is no place for fouls committed against the player. I’d like to be able to follow this useful area of activity.
Stats have to do with scoring, changing possession, and stopping scoring. They all lead more or less directly to the most important stat of a game, the final score. I’ll call individual numerical statistics on a stat l line “items” here. A triple double is at least 10 of three different types of items – almost always points, plus usually rebounds, plus assists, blocks, or steals. You could argue that points are the most valuable item but when you see ten steals you know the player had an effective game. Turnovers are a very negative item.
Comparing players’ performance, you can add the items for each player – 15 pts plus 5 assists is similar in value to 20 points or 8 points plus 12 rebounds.
Whether or not you agree with me about various items being worth approximately the same in determining if a team will win, there is definitely a need for the missing item – “times fouled.” Getting fouled by taking a charge is just as good as a steal; in fact often better because the charge often happens right on the way to an easy shot right at the rim. Some fouls committed by defenders do not result in foul shots but still help the team a lot. They move the fouling player closer to six fouls and thereby reduce their time on the floor; they push the team closer to being over the limit; they reset the clock at 14 seconds, allowing time to set up a play.
Some people feel there are too many stats already but I think “times fouled” would be a useful addition.
