Burnt Orange Nation Seastrunk, Jeffcoat, White, Matthews......

Great write up about about the top prospects in Texas and their chances of actually landing at Texas. The article is from Rivals and it references Seastrunk, Whilte, Jeffcoat, and Matthews. The author goes into the UT recruiting methodology, and the reasons why they may have cooled on Seatrunk. How would this class be percieved without landing any of the previously mentioned targets? This class is shaping up to be great, but with one or maybe two of these guys it has a chance to be special.

Tre Newton has been named the starting RB. I believe this is a great decision by the staff.

Burnt Orange Nation Head Coach in Waiting

I’m not sure if this question/issue has been covered yet. But, is it a good idea to hand over the keys to one of the top programs in the country to a coach with zero head coaching experience? This is not a personal attack on Muschamp or his abilities. I am questioning the wisdom of hiring an inexperienced coach in general. We know that he is a great D Coordinator, but head coaching is a far cry from just handling the defensive side of the ball. I am aware that we desperately needed to stop the revolving door at DC, but I’m not sure of this move. Coaches like Gary Patterson of TCU, Brian Kelly of Cincinnati, or Jim Grobe of Wake Forest come to mind when I think of a successor to Brown. These guys have established a track record of success relative to their respective institutions. I know that no hire can be a sure thing, but we certainly can have some idea of a coach’s abilities before entrusting him with the program.

Burnt Orange Nation Mack Brown rated #6 Nationally

I recently created a Fanpost about Mack Brown V. Stoops. This article ranks all the nations coaches, not just those in the Big XII. I personally think this ranking is a little low. Kirk Ferentz? They give him credit for “winning” with less talent. Isn’t it the head coaches job to recruit talent? Nick Saban? He is definitely worthy of discussion, but hasnt Mack accomplished more as of late? Pete Carrol? He has a cakewalk of a conference, and loses to unranked conferences foes. Bob Stoops? We have already discussed that. Urban Meyer? No argument. What do you think BON?

Burnt Orange Nation Bob Stoops > Mack Brown?

CNNSI recently ranked the coaches in the BigXII, and they ranked Bob Stoops ahead of Mac Brown. As a diehard UT fan I find this rather hard to swallow. We are tied in national championships. OU has the lead in BCS bowl appearances and conference championships. UT has a better BCS bowl record. OU also has major tarnishes with the Rhett Bomar situation, while UT has been squeaky clean under Brown. What is BON's objective (if possible) opinion about this matter?

Burnt Orange Nation WHY....

Why does UT struggle so much with OOS recruits and elite in-state recruits? Maybe im looking through burnt orange colored glasses. But UT is FREAKIN UT right? We should have Texas on lock like Gitmo! Whats the FREAKIN problem. OU has no business beatin us for recruits. Definately not the top level ones. USC doesnt have this problem in Cali. And you dont see many elite prospects leaving Florida. What is the problem? And what can be done about it?
