Help getting thru the All-Star Break

Today and Wednesday are the only two days in the year where there is no MLB game, NFL game, NBA game or NHL game. Personally, I'm not really thrilled about the Home Run Derby, especially because there are no Rockies participating. I'll watch the All-Star Game and root for the Rockies/National League, but ultimately it's an hype-driven exhibition that Bud Selig. It has been some time since there has been a help getting thru the day post. I figure the All-Star Break is the perfect time to bring it back.

I'm not sure how amusing or popular this will be, but oh well here goes. Rowbots, I present to you the Midsummer Rockies Caption Contest.

Rodrigo Lopez is back

Former Rockie Rodrigo Lopez will start for the Phillies on Friday when they play the Mets. Lopez pitched for the Rockies in 2007 and was solid until he blew out his elbow on July 26.

While I have no affinity for the Phillies, I'm glad to see Rodrigo back in the majors and I hope he does great on Friday.

Retrospeculation: if Rodrigo and Jason Hirsh hadn't gotten hurt in 2007, where would Ubaldo Jimenez be now?

I have been offered David Wright for Chase Utley. What do you think?

I'm in a points only Yahoo league. Offensive categories are: R (+1), 1B (+1), 2B (+2), 3B (+3), HR (+4), RBI (+1), SB (+1), BB (+1), CYC (+10), and K (-1). Currently, my batters line up like so:

C - Pablo Sandoval (C, 1B, 3B)
1B - Adrian Gonzalez (1B)
2B - Chase Utley (2B)
3B - Chris Davis (1B, 3B)
SS - Alexei Ramirez (2B, SS, OF)
OF - Ryan Braun (OF)
OF - Carlos Quentin (OF)
OF - Vernon Wells (OF)
Util - Joey Votto (1B)
Util - Adam Jones (OF)
Bench - Dan Uggla (2B)
Bench - Brad Hawpe (OF)
Bench - Chris Iannetta (C)

I've been platooning Sandoval and Iannetta at C all season. I recently picked up Davis off of waivers, dropping Edwin Encarnacion. At the beginning of the year, I had Alex Rodriguez, but I traded him and Jose Valverde for Braun and Matt Capps (an absolute fleecing).

So far this season, Wright has put up 52 points, including 14 points in the past week. Utley has 98 points on the year, including 32 in the last week alone.

What do you think, folks? Any advice will help.

Help getting thru the offday, 4/23 edition

Another offday is upon us, and the latest installment Help Getting Thro ugh the Day is here to help fill the void.

One of my favorite (albeit ancillary) things about going to a baseball game is getting to hear the walkup music for each player. Ryan Spilborghs has had some great choices in the recent past with Sweet Escape and Thriller, though I'm not crazy about his current selection. Other players have had poor selections, and some are just ridiculous.

So, Rowbots, the obvious question to ask is which player has walkup music that you love/hate. But what about you? What would your song be if you played for the Rockies?

I would pick Red Alert by Basement Jaxx. It's not my favorite song in the whole world, but it has a great beat and it starts off with a lot of energy, which hopefully would pump up the crowd at Coors Field.

So what's it gonna be? If you have some obscure selection, it might help to link to a YouTube video featuring the song. Sound off!
