Lewin and TAG
Small discussion over at the DMN blog about Lewin's contract not being renewed past this season, and TAG's expiring after 2010.
For all of Lewin's shortcomings, the guy has kept us entertained through some long and miserable summers, and to see him go before the Rangers are about to make a real run at this thing in the next few years would be a damn shame.
TAG on the other hand, is truly a staple of the Ranger organization, and you don't need me to list the reasons why. The guy is awesome, and a true homer in every sense of the word....which is of course why we love the guy. And as many of you can contest, we truly don't know how good we've got it with these two; listening to most out of town announcers is the equivalent of a constantly bitching girlfriend/wife. Or something in that regard.
Maybe it's just an early panic, and management has something in the works. But if the Lewin/TAG tandem is split after the year, it's going to be a sad day for Ranger fans.
I'm assuming many of you would love a move of Dave Barnett to TV? ;)

Cowboys-Browns Gameday Thread
Alright LSBers -
We've all waited since the Giants game to see how this team will rebound, and today is the day.
Even with all the talent on defense, expect the Browns to turn this game into a shootout. Look for them to go to Winslow early and often to expose Roy's lack of coverage skills.
I do, however, think that the Boys have too much firepower on offense to not have a field day on the depleated secondary of the Browns.
Let's hope this game is the first step towards bringing home the hardware in Tampa!!!

OT - Steve Smith
So listening to Brian Esteridge on the way home today, he made a pretty compelling argument for the Cowboys to test the waters on trading for Steve Smith. Everyone knows what kind of player this guy is, and a combination of SS and T.O. would be completely unstoppable come Sundays.
Word out of Carolina is that they are growing tired of his act and this isn't the first time he's caused a distraction to the team (this latest incident was obviously on a much larger scale).
What would it take to get Smith to Dallas? Obviously talks start with a first-round pick, but there seem to be a decent number of guys here that could get far more substantial playing time for a team that isn't as loaded. I, for one, think that if Smith came to Dallas it is a GUARANTEED Super Bowl berth, barring injury.

OT - Brett Favre
I don't post on here often, but I need another avenue other than bitching to my buddies about how much I hate this man.
I have never seen an athlete in all of my life that needs as much attention as this douchebag. This includes Terrell Owens. For the last five years, we have had to listen over and over and over about will he or won't he retire. Well guess what a**hole, no one outside of your small Wisconsin town cares whether you play or not.
On top of this idiot constantly craving attention, ESPN continues to make this the most pressing issue in the world of sports. Now I'm assuming most of the LSBers are just as annoyed as I am about the content that ESPN puts out on a daily basis judging by what I read on here. But I think the coverage of Favre trumps even the Yankee/Red Sox coverage. I literally can not watch 20 minutes of ESPN without hearing or reading about this idiot. You sent a text message to your GM? Guess what Brett, NOT ONE PERSON GIVES A SH*T.
I haven't even gotten started on the level of mediocrity that this guy has shown over the last half decade. You can look all over the league to find QB's that are far more efficient and keep their teams in games because they don't make mistakes like this guy.
Brett, you and your Wranglers can retreat to your house in Mississippi (how do I know he has a house in Mississippi? Because ESPN shoves it down my throat every offseason) and never be heard from again.
Thanks

Phil Hughes
First of all, longtime reader of the site, with this being my first post.
Anyhow, with Phil Hughes struggling and Hank Steinbrenner's itch to move Joba into the rotation, I think there could be an opening for the Rangers.
Would Laird+Benoit be enough to pry Hughes from the Yanks? I think if you were to go through Cashman, the answer is hell to the no. But if Hicks were to deal directly with Hank, I think there could be something of substance there.
