I need the help of Cuse Nation #diontgopro
The big east tournament is over. We are 32-2. If anyone told me that in the preseason, I'd be thrilled. But we still have more work to do. Priority number 1 is to win the National Championship. Priority number two is where you guys come in. Time to start our campaign to keep dion with our Orange. I know:
1) we are deep
2)lets focus on this year first
3) We still have triche and cooney and mcw
4) We will still be good with out him
5) scoop is leaving so he might to
6) what if he already decided
The fact is you can never start to early. He could be the best player in college basketball if he comes back and improves as he has so far. We may not need him, but we need him (i think that makes sense somehow) So lets just give it a try, and if we fail, well maybe we can all sit around wearing our 2012 NCAA champions tshirts and get a few good laugh about how much we wish we could get him back.
I am sending everyone to twitter to convince him to stay.
Leave your best pleas at #diontgopro and force him to stay at the best basketball program in the country.
Lettttttttttttts Gooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
There is no place like home
A senior Syracuse University lacrosse player, Kevin Drew, is facing driving while intoxicated, hit and run and resisting arrest charges following a crash in a car owned by the SU lacrosse coach early morning Monday in the Westcott Street area.
Brian Cashman has stated that Phil Hughes is "Significantly Better" after recieving a cortisone shot on Wednesday.
ESPN.com
Mike Williams arrested.
40 catches. 627 yards, 5 TD for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That is the Mike Williams we all expected when he first came to Syracuse.
But Friday, after a very productive first half of the season he couldn't let us syracuse fans down and not show his true self. Yes, friday Mike Williams was arrested on "suspicion of DUI." This means one of a few things:
Option 1: Williams was above the legal limit, should not have been driving, and is the idiot we all remember
Option 2: Williams was drunk, capable of driving and not over the limit, but just being an asshole thinking he can do whatever he want running a stop sign or speeding or something.
Either way, I imagine he was not to bright. Now that im done ranting about the entire situation this is what I know to be fact. Friday morning at approximately 3am (when is it ever a good idea to be driving at 3am) in Hillsborough County. He was arrested and charged with DUI. When the Sherrif who arrested him was asked to comment. He said "Williams was driving a black Cadillac 57 mph in a 45 mph zone and weaving between lanes." Although technically Williams blew a .061 and .065 which is under the legal limit in Florida (,08), he was still driving like he owned the state of Florida. The reason why he was still arrested instead of just givin a ticket for reckless driving is because Williams could not pass a field sobriety test. He failed tests and appeared to have glassy eyes. Urine tests are being conducted to see if he was also impaiired by any other substances. This morning at about 8am Williams posted bail and was released.
Williams leads all rookies in receiving yards, ranks second among rookies in receiving touchdowns and has started all nine games this year for the 6-3 Bucs. He has the potential to be great. Why screw it up. He can afford a cab. Most teams provide some sort of free service for their players to avoid this. This is the reason he dropped so low in the draft. So Mike Williams I ask you, Do you want to be Michael Irvin, do you want super bowls, wins, records, and fame. Or do you want to be Charles Rodgers, talented, highly thought of, a great prospect expected to have a great career, and then never pan out because you can't handle yourself off the field.
You've got your paths to choose from. What's it gonna be mike?
Why Mike Kafka should be the starting Quarterback...
Just kidding. Just thought I would get a title to stand out and make you click it. Worked didn't it?
Okay. So, Michael Vick...
Completion Percentage -63.8%- 11th
Passing Yards - 459yds - 11th
Passing TD's - 3TD - T10th
INT - ZERO - T1st
...simply put he has done is job and been great at it so far.
Now more stats.
Michael Vick - Age 30
Donovan McNabb - Age 33
Brian Dawkins - 36
Sheldon Brown - 31
Brian Westbrook - 31
No matter who the player, what they have done, or what they will do. When they turn 30 or around there they are on there way out. What I am trying to say, is we are a rebuilding team. We have alot of young talent that will hopefully stay with us for a long time. Michael Vick is not one of them. I am not saying that Kevin Kolb is the answer but Kevin Kolb has paid his dues and been given a shot to be the answer. It is his job to lose, and if he does, vick is still there to "save the day" until we draft an answer.
Kevin Kolb has 3 career starts and we base him on the 1 bad start he had. When in reality he didnt do bad...or good. He was never given a shot. He went 5-10 for 40 or 50 yds (somewhere around there i think?). That was over a half. Where he got 10 passes. Peyton Manning would not have a good day if he were only given 10 tries to pass the ball scattered over a half where he was repeatedly taken in and out of the game. And now that I think about that...make it 5-7...he went 3 and out with 3 incomplete passes after he got railed and got a concussion.
All I am saying is we all did our part running McNabb out of Philly last year. And when we did not a single person said Mike Vick should start. So why should we just hand him the job without Kolb getting a shot? We shouldn't. Kolb needs a couple games to get comfortable with his offense and know that it is his offense (if reid ever sets down the cheesesteak and gives it to him).
Long story short. Give him a shot before you throw him under the bus.

Top 10 Offseason wishlist
Obviously every team that comes up short of the Superbowl needs changes. These are just somethings that I personally would like to see, and think could happen.
10. Marty Schottenheimer hired as eagles GM.
- I put this at 10 because I find it least likely to happen out of my scenarios. I think we need a good mind in at GM. Someone who will be more involved than heckert was.
9. Offensive Coordinator
- Morninwheg is not the answer. O line injuries aside that offense should have performed alot better and more consistant.
8. A Big body reciever
- I am not by any means putting any of these players as a recmmendation. But a Marshall, Fitz, even Braylon Edwards minus the Drops type player. As far as players are concerned I consider this my luxury pick. Not a neccessity.
7. A running back
- Not saying westbrook is done, But Mccoy is clearly his replacement....not his compliment. Toby Gerhart would be nice. Get a bruiser back to take some contact and physicallity.
6. Rebuilld the Left side of the O line
- This needs to be done early. and we need more capable backups to avoid this years mess again
5. FS!!!!!!!
- I am not a fan of Macho. I love Mikell at Strong Safety but I think this could be a perfect spot to fill in a Free Agent veteran. Our defense lacks leadership more than anything right now
4. As much as I love both asante samuel and sheldon brown, A shut down corner
- having two corners that jump routes and go for turnovers is too risky especially since samuel cant tackle. We just need one side or the other to be a stick em corner.
3. A Quarterback
- Before everyone flips....let me explain. Every draft there are the top quarterbacks....In their first couple years they struggle through growing pains, with some bright spots, but would serve well as a backup learning under a veteran. Enter Donovan McNabb. Ex. Just an example not a reccomendation. Draft Colt McCoy. He learns under McNabb. By the time he starts, he is expereinced. If McNabb is hurt, he is still very capable. I know we have Kolb, I know he played well when starting. Just saying there are better options out there.
2. Dawkins
- First let me say that this will not happen...it would just be nice
1. Bill Cowher
-Let me also say this will not happen but it would be nice.
Extra ticket vs. Skins
Anybody know anyone who is looking for an extra ticket? Around 200 dollars (can give you the exact price if you are interested) 8th row in the corner of the endzone. Will be in philadelphia around 12 o clock tommorow so can set up a time to get the ticket to you.
These are justt some extra words so i can post this. now i only need twelve more words in order to post this.
Money
"The yankees don't win championships, they buy them." I have heard it way to many times and I intend to prove it wrong. For those of you who think the yankees buy championships. I present the argument that the championships they won, bought more championships. I present the 20 championships before free agency. "If we had as much money as the yankees, we would win championships too." How about you flip that. If you had won championships, you would have as much money as the yankees.
Why is everyone so afraid to move on?
Mcnabb:
Career passer rating: 86.0
Doesnt come through in the clutch
is inaccurate
cant run any more
- even the people who want mcnabb still agree with this, so honestly, if you disagree you are just arguing to argue so i dont care what you think.
When I went to say Garcia should start over Kolb, I saw similar names disagreeing with me that support mcnabb.
Everyone says he gives us the best chance to win. thats their only reason for doing so. but if he cant hit recievers, and cant run, how does he give us a chance to win. He throws up balls and recievers get them. Why cant Kolb do the same, or maybe more?
My thoughts...
So,
I'm pretty sure alot of people have alot of reasons to say we lost the game.
-Marty didnt call enough runs
-Maclin dropped a ball to cause a turnover
-The refs blew a call to cause a turnover
-I'm sure there are others
But here is my point. McNabb is incredibly inconsistent. For a team that passes so much you think he would get acclimated to where his receivers want the ball a lot faster than most quarterbacks. Wrong. Balls at the feet, Balls over the head, balls behind. Honestly, there were so many dropped passes because they were surprised when the ball was right on their hands. Before anyone starts it, no, this is not a call to get Kolb in the game. That would be dumb. McNabb is a pro bowl caliber quarterback. What I am saying, is have him throw a little less so he focuses more on the attempts he has. Throw in some more wildcat, wildcat throws. End a rounds generally work rather well for us. Or more importantly, start the game with some high percentage throws. Throw a couple quick screens or a dump off to McCoy (or Weaver). If you build McNabb's confidence in his arm i feel he will make some better decisions and put more focus into his throws down the road.
Joba could be back in the pen!!
....for the playoffs
Think about it. best out of 5. Game 1 Sabathia, Game 2 Burnett, Game 3 Petitte. If the yankees have the best record they get to pick the off day. They take it here and then Sabathia can start game 4 on normal rest. this leaves Joba, Hughes, and Mo for a 7,8,9 knockout. This means that our starters would only have to go 6 innings, all other playoff relievers could be used on a strict match up basis. This could really work. Especially to the likings of Joba's innings limit which he must be approaching soon.
Thoughts?
Jeff Garcia
Why is Jeff Garcia not Starting? Kevin Kolb has had 50 percent of his drives before this past sunday result in a turnover. and none of the other 50 percent resulted in any scores. He followed up those negative comments with 3 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. One of which was a wide open pass to desean jackson in which no NFL quarterback should ever miss. Jeff Garcia knows the play book. He led the team just a few years ago. The only change is the wildcat, which he probably wouldnt be involved in anyway...
