Bleeding Green Nation Change of Pace...

With the combine in full swing, I want to get everybody's take on some guys they think could be impact players for the Eagles in the middle rounds of the draft.

Now, obviously, what players do at the combine can be highly over-rated, but between watching each guy, seeing some highlights, and hearing/reading the analysis about them, you start to like and dislike certain guys.  So based on what you previously knew about players and have learned recently, what are the thoughts on some middle round selections for the birds?  This year it seems like the Eagles could be in the market for contributors at a number of positions.

One guy that interests me is Gerhart from Stanford.  He's looked a little faster and a little quicker than I imagined.  Has anyone watched a lot of Stanford...how is he in pass protection?  Can he catch (I know he hasn't caught a lot of passes, but can he?)  I think I'd prefer to go with another young back to tandem with McCoy rather than a veteran at this point.

Another intriguing RB is Hardesty from Tenn.  Didn't play much until last year, but had a solid year, good size, decent speed, and caught 25 balls last year.

Who is everybody else interested in?  RB, LB, S, DL?

Bleeding Green Nation Herremans on WIP...

Todd Herremans was on WIP this afternoon and discussed the possibility of moving to LT....when asked how he would feel about moving to LT, he said "I'd love to" before going into a discussion about the differences between G and T...

Some guys say the "i'll do whatever will help the team win" type of answer...but that wasn't what this was...it sounded like he genuinely wants to give it a try and prove he can do it...

Nowhere in the conversation did I hear him incenuate that he was moving to LT or talking with Andy about moving...

Bleeding Green Nation You don't NEED anything...

I've seen a ridiculous amount of posts saying what you need and don't need to win the Super Bowl and the fact of the matter is...you don't NEED anything in particular...Teams have won the Super Bowl missing almost every critical piece of a franchise...

For example just in recent years, the Patriots won Super Bowls without a big time running game, the Colts without a big time defense, the Ravens and Bucs without a franchise QB, a bunch of teams with no big time TE, the Pats with no big time WR...

But on the other hand when you can get these things it helps...the Pats and Colts with franchise QBs, the Giants with a big time running game, the Bucs and Steelers with a dominating defense, the Colts and Giants with a bonafide #1 receiver, the Colts with a big threat at TE...

So while the Eagles still have a few needs depending on who you ask (FB, TE, T, WR, S, DE, RB), the order of priority is in no way a science.  Conceivably the Eagles could win a Super Bowl if they fill any combination of these needs, but I don't think anyone is stupid for putting any one above another - NFL GMs do it all the time.

I just hope something happens (somewhat optimistic) because we have 12 draft picks and I hope we're not planning for 4-5 rookies to play a major role.

Bleeding Green Nation McNabb gets overly criticized

If you really step back and look objectively at McNabb, he is one of the best QBs in the league...Don't just watch other QBs highlights on Sports Center but actually look meticulously into their play like we do with Donovan and you'll see everyone has major flaws except 1 or 2 guys per generation...
