Geno Smith may be one of the nation's best quarterbacks, but TCU's Casey Pachall is also a future pro who can make all the throws.
Care to stomach an in depth breakdown of one way in which the Holgorsen-Geno crew confused our defense? Hopefully this will help us get better at things like "try to cover the WR who goes off for 300 yards"

On the inevitable fall of Baylor's 9 game win streak and the epic game of Hyper-Efficiency Chicken between Art Briles and Dana Holgorsen.
As Baylor prepares to play it's first conference game this year against WVU, what can we learn from the formations it used (and those used against it) the previous week by UL-Monroe?
That's right, Phil, that's what happens when you rate Baylor as the No. 2 most overrated team and say things like this: Reason: The early results have been misleading. The Bears own the nation's second-longest win streak at nine games (TCU is No. 1, with 11 straight wins), and after starting this season 3-0 the Bears entered the AP Top 25 poll this week at No. 25, but I think their stay in the poll will be short-lived... While Art Briles is a tremendous coach, the Bears will have their work cut out for them starting this week with a road trip to Morgantown to take on No. 9 West Virginia. Saying the No. 25 team in the country is overrated and will drop out of the rankings may not seem like much of a bold prediction, but I will go as far as to say that the Bears will struggle to make it to six or seven wins and a bowl this year.
They fell a bit because of trailing SHSU at halftime, but they're still ahead of programs like Ohio State, Michigan and TCU.
Dear Mr. Coach Art Briles, I am writing to you about one of your kids, Lache Seastrunk. I have only gotten glimpses of him, but have found those glimpses to be intriguing, to say the least. I know...
"In his introduction to the professional ranks, RG3 brought along a trusty old friend: the Baylor offense. As our colleague Chris Brown noted on Twitter, the Redskins imported some of the concepts and simple reads from the Baylor playbook to give Griffin a low-risk opening sequence to work with. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan crafted a game plan that built upon each look he'd presented to the defense on previous plays, creating space for Griffin while remaining one step ahead of the competition." There is much, much more to the breakdown. I'd encourage you to take a look.
Here at ODB, you’ll find that we are, in general, pro-statistics. College football doesn’t have the quality of statistical analysis that baseball does (for a variety of reasons), but the...

On Quincy Miller and His Poor Decision to Leave Baylor for the NBA Draft
Sorry for the delay in getting this up. You can talk about Baylor baseball trying to extend their streak as they take on Texas A&M at home here. Right now, it's 0-0 in the top of the 5th. You...
Reason No. 3: RG3 had better stats when not throwing to his top target Some have argued that the reason Griffin III had better downfield numbers is because he was able to throw to Kendall Wright, a speed merchant whom Mel Kiper and Todd McShay both have listed as a late first-rounder in their most recent mock drafts. The issue in taking this tack is that Griffin III actually had better vertical numbers when throwing to someone other than Wright last year. RG3's vertical numbers on passes to Wright: 45 targets, 693 yards, 15.4 vertical YPA (VYPA) RG3's vertical numbers on passes to other players: 70 targets, 1,146 yards, 16.4 VYPA Luck was the exact opposite in that his vertical totals dropped off dramatically when not throwing to his best vertical target (tight end Coby Fleener).
Pretty interesting observation by Jeff Sullivan based off of a comment by a Mariner.
Football Outsiders Lewin Career Forecast says Robert Griffin III beats Andrew Luck…and every other college QB ever
"I think Andrew Luck is more athletic than people will ever give him credit for. When you compare his numbers this year to Cam Newton's numbers last year, they're almost identical. We all gushed about the athlete Cam was, but we don't with Luck, whose athleticism is underrated. Whereas Robert Griffin's pocket awareness is underrated also. It's an interesting juxtaposition between those two guys. We kind of want to push them into categories we're comfortable with, but they're both better than we think across the board.''
Mike Mayock via Peter King's MMQBKansas gets their revenge in a thriller after being down 19...and the Phog maintains it's reputation as one of the 3 toughest places places to play a basketball game in America. Final Score: Mizzou 86, Kansas 87 (OT)
RG3 at #2, Kendal Wright at #18. Money Quote: "Trust me on this one: The NFL is about to fall in love with Griffin, and the top of the draft is all about quarterbacks. The Browns should jump on this deal -- and this player -- with gusto, because they're not getting the ultra-impressive Griffin if they sit tight at No. 4. If Cleveland doesn't move on Griffin, Washington might."

"I'm excited to wow (teams) in the interviews with the type of offense that (Baylor) run, just so they can understand it's not as simple as some people make our spread out to be. It's a different kind of spread," Griffin said. "Although I don't agree with it, but people say I just burst on the scene this year, so no one knows much about me, whether NFL GMs or analysts, so I get a chance to put my best foot forward."

While it feels a bit unfair at points, I think most Baylor fans would agree with the majority of this. "Allow me to offer up my take. Perry Jones isn’t completely comfortable with being the leading man. It’s not in his personality to be a dominant, nasty performer. He’s a humble kid, a kind spirit and from my dealings with him, just an all-around nice guy. Does that mean he’s soft? Nope. It simply means his personality doesn’t match his size and talent level. "
"In Delino DeShields Jr., it’s difficult to not like the tools and upside should he max them out at the big league level. However, the young second baseman is just so unpolished that contacts considered him more worthy of a third round selection after the fact. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but in 2010, I remember sitting in the stands during a rain delay listening to a Houston Astros scout discuss DeShields Jr. with a colleague after he had signed. In snooping, I learned the organization had scouted just about every one of his games and believed Deshields Jr. was the best bat in the Atlanta area during a year it produced four first round prep picks. After hearing that praise, I simply came away expecting more."
