Have We Jumped the Gun On Our Comrade Leader?
This time last year we were flipping head over heals at the moves that our fearless leader took to lead up into the playoffs. Matty Ice was playing like, well, Matty Ice. Turner was teaching defenses a whole new meaning to the word trucking, and Curtis Lofton was lighting people up like the Fourth of July. While Sam Baker was nursing a back injury, he too came back to be effective once healed. Add to that the contributions of Chevis Jackson and the big play ability of your friend and mine, Harry Douglas and all in all Comrade T.D. pretty much knocked the socks off of his first draft.
Now as the 2009 Draft day came around, we all sat back and said "In Dimitroff we trust." But my question is, did we speak to soon?..

A Reminder - Falcoholic Fantasy Football
The Falcoholic Keeper League, managed by esteemed member Jesse28, is drafting this Saturday at Noon EST.
There are currently several open roster spots and we were hoping to fill them out before the draft. A Keeper League, for those who do not know, is one with teams that are kept up from year to year.
Let's keep the League as Falcoholic as we can, so if you've thought about joining now is the time. Leave a post in the comments section or shoot Jesse28 and email and he can get you the League information.

Coleman Shifting to SS, DeCoud to play at Free
Here is the link to the article:
http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-falcons/coleman-assumes-112596.html
I feel pretty good about this switch. I think that DeCoud's skill set certainly lends more to FS than SS. This also allows for William Moore to learn behind Coleman for a season (or two) before coming in and playing along side DeCoud to give us much greater range in the secondary. What are y'alls thoughts?

You joined The Falcoholic?
As I've seen a whole lot of new faces around the blog and with the start of the '09 season around the corner, I was curious as to how long people have been blogging here on the Falcoholic. I know we've done a more formal version of this with charts and graphs and everything, but I'm looking to just get an idea of how long everyone has been blogging, reasons for joining, etc. Join after the jump to get it going.

Quick Question
A couple of months ago someone mentioned a site that you could upload an image to, so that you would be able to post it here on the blog.
I can't remember the name of the site. Anyone know? Or am I just speaking crazy talk?

What is your '09 Depth Chart?
In light of the start of training camp, I thought it would be interesting to see everyone's take on the position battles out there and who you think will win out. I'll leave it wide open, but I will call you crazy if you think that Ben Harstock (our 6th lineman in the run game) will beat out Tony G. Let's see what you got.

A little discussion maybe?
I do not want to dwell in the past. In fact, I am firmly focused on the future. But with the draft over and done with, and the regular season a full summer away I started missing football. So, as I was checking the Atlanta Falcons home page I came across a video interview with Harry Douglas.
The first thing that struck me was that he is very well spoken and totally in step with the party line. One of the things that they spoke of was his role on Special teams, which was crucial following the release of Mr. Indecision Jennings. Just a reminder of the difference between the two (like you need a reminder), take a look at what HD does when he returns a punt.
Any thoughts on special teams? Does Norwood still return Kicks? Does HD? How about Thomas Brown? The blog has seemed a little down over the past couple days. Just trying to get the juices flowing again.

State of the Franchise and OTAs
Not sure if y'all have seen the State of the Franchise video yet. Very well done, and it was nice to hear their take on the Draft. Also, listening to McKay and Smitty talk about how loud the Dome needs to be sure got me fired up.
Also, is anyone going to the first mini camp next weekend? If so, who all will be there? I'll be out of town, but whoever is there if you could take some pictures and post to the site that would be great. I know i'd like looking at them.

Our Fearless Leader
Dave,
I just have to say, your quotes are priceless. I'm listening to the Braves game and ran across your quote on the official Falcons blog...
Dave the Falconer at thefalcoholic.com: “If you can’t get excited for Ryan throwing to Gonzalez, you’re either a robot or clinically dead. Or you’re a zombie robot, which is just plain awesome.”
FANtastic.

Let's just take a moment to raise our glasses to our fearless leader(or is he a zombie robot, because we all know that is just plain awesome).

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Dave... I give you... Tony Gonzalez
The Falcons agreed to acquire Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez from the Kansas City Chiefs for a second-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft, the team announced Thursday.
“Tony brings a new dynamic to the Falcons offense and we are very pleased that we were able to make the trade with Kansas City,” General Manager Thomas Dimitroff said. “His career numbers and records are top notch and he will no doubt be an integral part of our offense.”
The 13-year veteran is the all-time leader among tight ends in receptions (916), touchdowns (76) and receiving yards (10,940). He’s played in 191 career games and missed just two starts since 1998. Gonzalez’s 93 catches (1,058 yards) last season marked the third-highest single-season total of his career. He also added 10 touchdowns, the third time he’s had 10 or more scores in a season.
