Halladay has told several Tampa Bay players that he would waive his no-trade clause to play for the Rays, according to major-league sources.

The pitcher resides in Odessa, Fla., just north of the Tampa Bay area.

He has said he wants to play for a winner, and the Rays are the defending American League champions.

Nicknames?

I'm always trying to think of new nicknames for our Rays players. My father always enjoys screaming at the television when they screw up so he likes to have an arsenal of nicknames. I know this is kind of a bad time for this thread because whe are so close to the trade deadlein but does anybody got any good original nicknames?

My favorite on this board so far is Gabe Krapler.

I got: Carl Crawfish, Carlos Jalapena (via poster) Jason Fartlett, Reid Bringsnacks. I know most of those are cheesy.

Why not trade Kazmir?

I dont know much about Kazmirs contract details but wouldn't this be a better option then trading our great AAA prospects? Im going to get destroyed for proposing this idea lol. Trade a proven MLB player who is underperforming and has trade value. Even if he gets back to top form I don't see him ever being as good as he was. Trade Brignac eventually, you kind of have to find the right deal for him based on his value. The same goes for all of our AAA prospects.

What are your thoughts DRaysBay staff? Also can you give me an update on Kazmir's contract details.

Just some thoughts as we move closer to the all-star break

The rays really don't need to trade anyone unless we are getting to good of a deal to pass up. We shouldn't trade Wade Davis or any of our prospects for that matter unless at a unrefusable price. NO BOBBY JENKS. No bullpen no closers! We don't need them. All this talk about a designated closer needs to be put to rest. Maddon has something figured out that we should stand behind. Even if the closer fort the night is Dan Wheeler he will get the job done. Our bullpen has started clicking and there is no reason to fix whats not broken. Don't move the rotation around unless someone gets injured. I like seeing David Price James Shields Matt Garza Jeff Niemann and Scott Kazmir on paper. If i have any problems with the team it would be the 'rest' deal. Play the guys that are gonna win ballgames, thats all i ask. Let gross play everyday right field.

If anyone trade: Reid Brignac, or Tim Beckham

Get: Right fielder or closer

Im really high on fernando perez hopefully he will make a speedy recovery. Put him in right maddon. That would be a sickly fast outfield.

Rays (should be all stars): Bartlett, Zobrist, Longo, Crawford, Howell

Hey all,

Im kind of new around here. I was looking at a few of the threads and I was wondering what are your thoughts of trading some of our players?

If we would trade any one of our prospects, starters, or reserves who would it be? I voted for hopefully nobody. This team is loaded with talent. Trades are built for re-building, or making a run. This team is trying to make another run, but our team is stacked as it is! The only guys that i could see the rays trading would be Niemann or Brignac. Both could be very good at the next level. Niemann could showcase his talents for a month as the 5th starter than deal him and let Price fill in. For Brignac we already have a solid list of shortstops including Beckham who is far from ready and Zobrist can play SS. I still hope nobody is traded this year.

I hope he is in no later than May. He has way to much talent to be left in AAA ball. If they don't use him its going to be a waste. His changeup needs to be worked on but he can pitch at the MLB level (ALCS). With him the rotation we have one of the MLB's best rotations. Kazmir should get back to his normal greatness. Shields can be very dominant in pressure situations. Garza has all the potential in the world. Sonny is a very above average 4th starter. Price would be outstanding against other weak pitchers.

I picked Izzy because I still think he has the ability to get batters out late. He was good all the way up until he got his surgery. He might be old, but he can still get the job done.

Balfour Has the stuff to be a closer, but I don't think Maddon agrees with me.

Wheeler should stick to being a set up man he is good at it.

Percy should split saves with Izzy because they will both be hurt at some point.
