Room for Ohio St Game

Hi Everyone, I'm making plans to attend the Ohio State game. This will be the only game I can go to but it's a freakin' White Out so I'm jazzed! All of the hotels in the area are sold out; the closest one is in Milroy. I'd prefer to stay in town. Does anyone have a suggestion or know of a condo or room for rent for two nights in State College? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I live in Los Angeles and I am on this site every day, probably to my detriment. I am consumed by these events. In addition to BSD I check out StateCollege.com, PennLive, CDT, The Daily Collegian and The Pgh Post Gazette. It’s been about 2-3 weeks and I’ve noticed that Corbett has fallen off of the front page of all of these papers. Has anyone else noticed this? He disappeared, where did he go? Until proven otherwise in my opinion Corbett has a lot of splanin' to do. I think Corbett setup PSU and Joe like a bowling pin and brought down the force of the AG's office onto them. The reason he did this was to take the attention away from TSM (his $640,000 piggy bank) and himself. As an elected leader of the state and by default the BOT, he borne the responsibility to take control of the dialogue, to advocate caution from jumping to conclusions and to let due process take its course. The only thing I saw him do was congratulate the BOT for "having the courage" to fire Joe. He threw gasoline on the fire and the BOT watched it burn. How much influence do you think he will have on Sunday? It's time for the BOT to stand-up and punch that son of a bitch in his nose and.......

July 2 is the 30th anniversary of the lawn chair pilot. I vaguely remember this story and I thought it worth sharing. Larry Walters attached 45 helium weather balloons to a lawn chair and climbed to an altitude of 16,000. His landing mechanism/strategy was to shoot the balloons with a bb gun...awesome!!! At the bottom of the story is a 18 min audio file of the flight, it's very funny.

I personally want to thank Phil Knight for his eulogy. He said what everyone wanted to say. As an outsider and a person of enormous success and influence, he had the courage to tell it like it is; "There is a villainous tragedy," Knight said, staring out at some 12,000 mourners, "that lies in that investigation, not in Joe Paterno’s response to it. . . . It leads me to this question: Who is the real trustee of Penn State University?"

There were many excellent eulogies for Joe yesterday; they were all very poignant, I cried and I laughed. It goes without saying that Joe was one of a kind; he was a character the likes of which we will never see again. My heart goes out to the Paterno family, instead of turning inward and asking for privacy they said goodbye to the family patriarch and included us. 4 Grand Jury Investigations?

Attached is a link from the Center Daily Times. It mentions that there were a total of four grand jury investigations before charges were filed. The article is very brief, not much information. The other important note is that Cynthia Baldwin briefed the BOT in May. This is the first I've heard about other GJ investigations. It's starting to sound like a witch hunt. No wonder PSU was caught off guard. Remember the The Keystone Cops....they're back!!!

Erickson Town Hall Meetings

(I would hope the answer is 100% if not....)

How many members of the BOT were aware of Mike McQueary's observation of Sundusky in the shower with victim #2?

How many members of the BOT were aware of the accusations against Sundusky in 1998?

How many members of the BOT have ties to the athletic depatment beside Joyner?

How does the BOT determine that it is appropriate to fire Joe Paterno and the entire football staff if they were aware of the Sandusky situation?

Since the GJ investigation started in 1/11 why was the BOT so unprepared for the indictment?

Why didn't the BOT and the University get in front of the situation instead of letting the media take control.

I can keep going. I don't expect President Erickson to answer any of these questions. Will a spokesman from the BOT be at these meetings? I'm sure that Mr. Erickson is a very nice and capable person but if Penn State thinks he can have town meetings and avoid these questions then he is a tool and the BOT takes us for fools.

Considering that we have a worldwide alumni association of over 300,000 does the University plan to have a live feed for the town hall meetings or would that be too transparent?
