Detroit is for the first time in a long time not picking in the top 5. At pick 13 there should still be alot of amazing players to pick from. Originally I thought they would go CB for sure. However at this position you can have the #3 corner or the #1 OLB. At this pick they could go DE or Tackle as well. Its going to be an interesting draft for the Lions. What are you thoughts on what they will draft. They always go best player available. There are still alot of needs on this improved team. Please discuss what you think would help them improve the most in 2011,.

I was recently told that the Lions employ a man on man blocking scheme. Is this true? I know they used to run a zone scheme and made the change under Schwartz. Anyone know why we made this change? It seems like players like Backus and Raiola are better suited to this scheme. Any feedback is appreciated. I just wondered if some of our problems are associated with our scheme and talent or just the talent.

No more delusions Lions fans. We are picking either first overall or second overall in 2011. This draft is missing any Suh like players. I was hoping we would have been picking around 3 - 5 but I don't see that happening. Buffalo has won another game and we are the new favorite for 1st overall. Its us against the Panthers for a race to the bottom. Detroit isn't ready to win. I am starting to doubt the coaching staff and thinking that all of our improvements are because of Mayhew.

Its too early to talk about the draft. However it isn't too early to grade individual performances. We can determine what positions we need to upgrade and what holes need to be filled. The Lions will go Best Player Available anyways so we can't even guess where they will go. In your opinion what group is in the best need of an upgrade? Right now I would say linebacker or corner. Let me know what you think.

I am really excited about Suh and Vanden Bosh on one side of the D line. I think it will cause a lot of mismatches and instantly has transformed the defense. However, I am still trying to understand who is going to play the other 2 positions on the defensive line.

At Nose Tackle - Is is going to be Sammy Hill or Corey Willams? I heard Corey is more of a three technique

At the Other Defensive End Position - Is it going to be Devries? Flu? Or McBride? Maybe Avril? or a rotation?

 I understand a lot of people think its too early to talk about the 2010 draft but as a Lions fan its my superbowl. Before the Browns game I thought we would be drafting either first or second. Now it a definate possibility that we draft anywhere from position three to five. That makes a huge difference. It means that Suh is probably no longer a possibility.

So I wanted to get everyones perspective on how winning this game is going to affect the Lions 2010 draft.

My perspective

Round 1

 Okung or Berry.

Round 2

Corner or DT.

Round 3

Best Guard

We all know the Lions can again do BPA (Best Player Available) in the 2010 draft but what do you think the biggest needs are?

 What do you think is the biggest need for the Lions. I think in 2010 we will be drafting around the 5th or 6th pick. Therefore it has to be DL S or LT.

Eric Berry looks intriguing. Suh or McCoy or Okung would also be possibilities

What position do you prefer?

How many people think that Raji is a possibility at #1. Is he only a possibility if the Lions can trade down? Also is he as good as everyone is saying? Or is this draft just weak at DT. After Raji the talent seems to drop off signifigantly. Same as last years draft. Why is this position so hard to fill?

If he is as good as everyone says. If so Draft him & Terrance Cody next year and then the Lions will finally be able to push the pocket.

What are everyones thoughts on Cutler. If he is as good as everyone here thinks then I propose this to be a fair trade.  Let me know if I am crazy.

How about this trade?

Trade #1 pick plus a LB (Peterson or Simms) for Cutler and  pick #12.

This would fill a few needs. QB + DT or ILB at  #12 (Raji or Maluaga)

My logic is the draft is deep at LB so you could take Cushing or another outside LB at #20

If you decide to give up Simms its mostly because he doesn't fit as well into the new bigger philosophy that Swartz and Maythew are looking for.

Just my two cents.

We have no idea what kind of team they will eventually become. We have no idea on team philosophy and whether it will be an offense or Defensive minded team. Hoping we haven't been told because they want to keep the direction of the draft secret.Not that they don't know.

This is assuming that we grab at least a #2 reciever and a guard in free agency.

1A) Curry or Raji

1B) Lots of holes buy lets try to stick with Defense.

Option #1 MLB - Maualuaga or Laurinaitus

Option #2 LT - Only if Oher,or Curry slide.

Option #3 CB - Vontae Davis or DJ Moore

2) Lots of options but fill the big holes please.

Option #1 DT = (Brace,Peria Jerry or best DT)

Option #2 DE = only if Michael Johnson slips

Option #3 CB = Best ones left.

3A) Would like to see CB,TE,Center or WR

3B) RB or Return man/CB/WR

Scenerio #2

1A) Jason Smith or Matthew Stafford (would be a huge mistake)

1B) Should be a defensive pick either

Option #1 MLB - Maualuaga or Laurinaitus

Option #2 CB - Vontae Davis or DJ Moore

Option #3 SLB - Cushing or Matthews

Expect to see a LT if they go with Stafford

2)DT is a huge need

Option #1 DT = (Brace,Peria Jerry or best DT)

Option #2 DE = only if Michael Johnson slips

Option #3 CB = Best ones left.

3B)RB or Return man/CB/WR
