Indians Top 30
First time doing any kind of ranking list so be sure to pick me apart.
1. Lonnie Chisenhall- solid 3B there are question marks about how much power he has and some about his defense. I have seen him a number of times in person and I like his defense at the hot corner if he can cut back on the errors.
2. Alex White- I view him as a #2 or #3 SP. Really like this kid.
3. Jason Kipnis- Flew up my rankings this year. The bat is legit. Has some power and hits for a high average. Needs to get better defensively. Talked to him about a month ago and he said he is getting comfortable there and that the balls that are hit like rockets at him are the toughest adjustment (compared to CF) but he is making improvements.
4. Drew Pomeranz- 1st round pick this year. Have high hopes for him in the coming years.
5. Nick Weglarz- Bounced back from a lackluster 2009 and has put up solid numbers this year. Concerned about his defense that he might have to be a DH.
6. Jason Knapp- Has recovered from surgery very nicely thus far and has been impressive so far.
7. Carlos Carrasco- Started the year slowly but has turned it around and should be up with the big club September 1st
8. Nick Hagadone- Moved to the bullpen recently and should be a top bullpen arm and hopefully the teams future closer
9. TJ House- Solid pitcher. Still young and inconsistent. Seems like when he is on he is on but when he is not he gets hit hard. Needs to learn to "get through" a game without his best stuff.
10. Joe Gardner- Wasnt too enamored with this pick last year. He has proven me very wrong and has flown up my rankings. Very solid numbers in A and A+ this year. Could continue to climb before the year is out.
11. Kelvin De La Cruz- Interesting young arm. Has to get the walks down. Very inconsistent. I was higher on him earlier in the year. Have backed off a little bit but still has time to figure out AA.
12. Jeanmar Gomez- Liked him last year in AA. He is up for a short time (at least that is what I have heard) and has impressed in MLB. I think he is over his head right now but is a solid MOR or BOR SP. Havent really decided where I see him in the future.
13. LeVon Washington- 2010 2nd round pick Hoping the bat pans out. Indians need more power bats in the system. They already have a ton of speed the minors.
14. Tony Wolters- 2010 3rd round pick. Read scouting reports on the kid but want to see him in the minors before I get to excited.
15. Hector Rondon- How far he has fallen is crazy to me. I had him solidly in my top 5 preseason. Has been out since May. Was getting hit pretty hard before that. K rate was still high.
16. Cord Phelps- Never heard of him until this year watching him in Akron. Just a tough hard nose type player. Just seems like a gritty player. Hate making comparisons but David Eckstein came to mind when watching him in the field.
17. TJ McFarland- solid numbers in A+ this year. Made a spot start in early August in AA and got roughed up. Look forward to seeing him in AA next year.
18. Bo Greenwell- Hits for good average. Hopefully the power will come. Has stolen 20+ bases this year in A/A+
19. Scott Barnes- numbers are not spectacular but he has gotten better month to month as the year has gone on.
20. Alex Perez- Optimistic here. Had 2 strong starts to begin the year and has been out since with Tommy John surgery.
21. Giovanny Soto- acquired in the peralta trade. Had been solid for the Tigers A team and has picked right up in A ball for the Indians. See him as a BOR type pitcher.
22. Robbie Aviles- 2010 draft pick. Tommy John surgery. Like this kid in the future. Just hope the TJ surgery is not a sign of things to come.
23. Tyler Holt- 2010 draft pick. scrappy type CF.
24. Zach McAllister- Not super high on McAllister. See him as a possible BOR SP in the future. Been proven wrong before (see Joe Gardner)
25. Corey Kluber- BOR type SP. Had a rough beginning in Akron after the trade but was very solid last time out.
26. Rob Bryson- Has moved up 3 levels this year. High K rate and low walk rate. Should be a very useful bullpen arm sometime next year possibly.
27. Abner Abreu- Toolsy type OF. Havent given up hope on him yet. Needs to get his average back up but could be a useful 4-5 OF
28. Jared Goedert- Has gone crazy this year. Hitting close to .300 on the year with 25HR. Likely getting called up September 1st to see what he can do. Most likely keeping the seat warm for Chisenhall.
29. Jordan Henry- CF hits for good average. Has speed. Absolutely no power (HR). Not much gap power either.
30. Delvi Cid- Inriguing guy. A ton of speed (60+ SB this year).
Now is the time to comment and pick me apart and give some advice and opinions.

Pedro Alvarez call up immenent
By Mark Polishuk [June 15, 2010 at 6:55pm CST]
Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports that Pedro Alvarez, the No.2 overall pick in the 2008 Amateur Draft, could make his major league debut for Pittsburgh by the end of the week. Langosch reports that Alvarez is in the lineup tonight for Triple-A Indianapolis, and could be called up as soon as Wednesday for that evening's White Sox/Pirates game. One might think the Bucs might announce Alvarez's first game in advance to sell a few extra tickets either against the Sox or when the Indians come to town for a weekend series.
Alvarez will play every day at third base for the Pirates, thus making current baseman Andy LaRoche into a backup or utilityman; Langosch notes that LaRoche has already been taking grounders at second base in preparation for his new role. With Neil Walker locked into the second base job, LaRoche (who was a well-regarded prospect him not too long ago) could be made available to a team looking for an infield backup. The Bucs would certainly have an easier time moving LaRoche than they would dealing Akinori Iwamura's big contract.

Did I get duped?
I am in complete rebuild mode in my 30 team dynasty league. The other owner and I are both building our teams through minor leaguers. He is trying to compete next year and beyond and I am looking at 2 years from now to start building a solid team. He was interested in Brandon Phillips (my roster) but he has a huge contract so I ate the huge expiring deal of Ichiro Suzuki. Now here are the prospects being swapped because that is the whole deal anyways.
I get: Aaron Crow, Wil Myers, Simon Castro, (Ichiro's expiring contract)
He Gets: Thomas Neal, Dayan Viciedo, Tanner Bushue, Wilmer Font, Brandon Phillips
I really like the prospects that I get in the deal but really made me stop and think when I proposed the deal and he jumped all over it like I was giving up way to much. Just wanted to hear thoughts from you guys that know more about these prospects than I do.
Thanks

Jacob Turner on the DL
Just read this on espn.com
News: Turner, who's pitching for Low-A West Michigan, has been placed on the disabled list after experiencing stiffness in his right forearm, Mlive.com reports.
Spin: Turner has already missed two starts because of the injury. The move is retroactive to April 22, which would allow Turner to return on Thursday, but he'll likely stay on the sidelines past that date.
Not the way I was hoping he would start out this year. Hope this is not a sign of things to come or a regular thing with him being hurt with shoulder problems.
Trading for Minor Leaguers
I currently have Nick Punto on my roster and have no use for him since I am in complete rebuild mode. The team in my league (Texas Rangers) are interested in trading for him. I have dealt with him plenty so far and have plucked probally 8 of his top 10 prospects in different trades (the only ones that I didnt get he had already traded away). I can probally get two of these guys but dont know a whole lot about any of them. Was hoping some Ranger fans could help me pick two of them that would most likely help me at the MLB level in the future. Timetable is not really that important since my whole team is minor leaguers so it is going to take some time for them to get the the big leagues anyways. Here is the best he has left:
Miguel Velazquez
Carlos Pimentel
Robbie Erlin
Tommy Mendonca
Chad Tracy
Neil Ramirez
Also if you can think of any little known type names in the Rangers that have a high ceiling let me know and he might still own their rights as well.
Appreciate any help that you can provide.
Dynasty League Trade Offer
Like I have stated before I am new to this whole "prospecting" thing. I took over a team that was in pretty bad shape and have traded my 2 good players for prospects and I am in complete rebuild mode. I just received an offer and I am torn on it and was hoping some of you more experienced prospectors could help me. Here is the offer:
I get: Starlin Castro Dominic Brown Tim Melville
I give: Dominic Jennings
Difficult for me because I love what Jennings brings to the table. My team is loaded (in my opinion) with prospects.
Any and all help would be much appreciated.

I am relatively new to prospecting and spend a lot of time here with John reading all of the posts that are posted to learn more about these guys. 2 things that really jumped out at me right away are that Brad Snyder is even on this list and that Jeremy Hellickson is not in the top 20, well wait he didnt even make the list. Just found that really odd personally. Anyone else see anything worth pointing out about this list?
