I'm your typical kool-aid drinking Purdue alum with an uncanny ability to dispense unsolicited thoughts and insights.

What I lack in ability to articulate my thoughts in a grammatically sound and clear manner, I make up for with my...uh....ummm... Okay, I admit it. I don't really have any other redeeming qualities. Just don't tell TMills.

Impressive Clash of Future Boilermakers

Rapheal Davis (2012) and his South Side Archers took on Bryson Scott's (2013) Northrop last night in a game that should make any Boilermaker fan excited about the future. Despite South Side's 72-79 loss to Northrop, Rapheal Davis scored 53 points including an amazing 25-27 from the FT line. He was just 3 points shy of city single-game record. Sophomore Bryson Scott added an equally impressive 30 points.

It Takes a Village to Replace a Hummel, Kramer, and Grant

Ever wonder how Purdue Basketball is dealing with the loss of Robbie Hummel and the graduation of Chris Kramer and Keaton Grant? This explains how it's done.

JaJuan Johnson Named ESPN's Player of the Week

After his 31 point performance against ISU, JJ was named the Player of the Week by ESPN's Andy Katz. The honor leads me to believe that it was a really off week for the Big East and SEC. Thankfully, folks in Bristol expect a big rebound for the east coast.

Rapheal Davis Summer Highlights

Jacob Lawson Named ARod Classic MVP

2011 Commitment Jacob Lawson was named the ARod Classic MVP following Oak Ridge Military Academy's (10-1) 72-60 win against Christopher Columbus for the tournament title. Lawson scored 7 points for ORMA in the championship game. He scored 15 points (12/1) and 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 block shots (12/10) in his previous two tournament games.

Scout Ranks Bryson Scott #33 in Class

Scout has released the 2013 Top 35 and has ranked Bryson Scott #33 (5th best PG in his class). To put that into perspective, the class of 2007's top commitment, E'Twaun Moore, was ranked #35. Other Purdue targets include Zak Irvin (#25) and Alex Foster (#35). Basil Smotherman was the last one out (presumably #36).

Bryson Scott's Commitment Brings Optimism Back to Recruiting

Here's look into Purdue's present state of basketball recruiting for the next 3 years.

Bryson Scott Highlights

Here are some of Bryson Scott's summer AAU highlights.

Purdue Lands 2013 Target Bryson Scott

Purdue landed its first target in the class of 2013, point guard Bryson Scott (Fort Wayne Northrop). Scott averaged 18 points and nearly 5 rebounds as a freshman and is widely believed to be one of the top prospects in the state. ESPN's analysis of Scott (from April): He is a good athlete and always plays extremely hard. He is always in attack mode. Despite his size, he plays big. He is a good slasher and is not afraid to go in amongst the trees in the paint. He is a streaky shooter with range to 20 feet. He is a solid defender who takes pride in stopping his opponents. He is a good rebounder for his size who uses great effort to grab the ball in a crowd. Like his brother he is a max effort player who is good now and has a solid upside. We'll have more on Scott and the impact it has on other recruits later.

AP Idiot of the Week: Jerry Tipton

It takes only a quick glance at the AP Top-25 breakdown of voters to notice something off for week 3. Apparently Purdue's 55 point win against Alcorn St. and 15 point victory against Oakland was enough to convince Lexington Herald journalist Jerry Lipton to drop Purdue from #19 to unranked. Since he's heroically disabled the comments on his lame blog, you can let me know when you think directly: jtipton@herald-leader.com.
